It was a painful loss indeed.955876 wrote: ↑Tue Nov 26, 2019 3:18 amNot even his biggest gaff of the day IMO.1. Why did he wait so long to insert a healthy Ben into a winnable game? (I think last season or year before) What was that all about???
His biggest fuck-up was standing on the sidelines staring at the game clock and not calling a TO after the Raiders completed a long pass down to the 7 yard line. Off top of my head I think they were just inside 2 minutes.
Raiders were 1st & goal and had their own TO in pocket which they (smartly) did not use. They either score and take the lead or lose it there. Even without a TO they had an eternity from that down & distance.
And there was Jibba. Standing there with his fucking head up his ass (again) watching the time tick away. Obvious to anyone that his best chance at that point was to preserve as much time as possible in the event the Raiders score.
They did. And we got the ball back with like 20 seconds when we could have had over a minute.
We flew home with the loss and a TO in pocket.
Ole Jibbs might be keeping this team focused this year on our way to a meaningless 8-8 season but he sure as shit can’t figure out the damn game clock.
Win that (very winnable) game and we make the playoffs.
That’s why I don’t compare vs Payton etc. because I dont know the weekly nuance of how and why they win/lose.
I know with 100% certainty that Raiders loss was squarely on Jibba

Secure NHALS early and then go deep into the PLAYOFFS.

Holy crap ... this is like how the Bucs convince everyone every year that something has changed and shit won’t be the same THIS year

I know he still doesn't think he made a mistake there.955876 wrote: ↑Tue Nov 26, 2019 3:18 amNot even his biggest gaff of the day IMO.1. Why did he wait so long to insert a healthy Ben into a winnable game? (I think last season or year before) What was that all about???

For one, they got the great hook and ladder play which gave them a shot at a FG. Tomlin is all about results-oriented decision-making. If something good happened...if he had a chance to win...then the decision he made was good.
Two he's managed the clock exactly the same way a couple of times since.

Let’s not forget that Boswell was rushed on the kick as well if I recall.
Slipped on the wet field and missed.
I wondered why they didn’t call a TO there to give their kicker more time to focus. Maybe he was afraid of “icing” his own kicker. Who knows.

Jibba Jabber’s offense hasn’t scored more than 7 1st quarter points in 84 consecutive games. An NFL record by far. A historic amount of “easin in”. We are lucky to have him.
