I dunno.
The explanation seemed legit. He did in fact have control of the ball, then let go.
I'm not a rules expert though.
Whistle didn't blow and the guy was laying with half his body in the end zone and his knee hit the ball.
End of story.
Just like the constitution, when you write the rules with loopholes, this is what happens.
This comment demonstrates such a massive misunderstanding of drafting constitutional arrangements it is staggering.
Besides, what was the loophole here?

Don't know of any loophole that makes sense in this instance.
They fucked the Steelers numerous times with ridiculous calls.
That was just another one.
Yea, this doesn't make sense.
Like the constitution... when you decide to "interpret" you find yourself ignoring English and language to get the outcome desired.
NFL refs should not interpret the rules. They tried to change the game and its bleeding obvious.

You don't need to look at the penalty calls the refs called to see the attempt to manipulate the game.
That touchback interpretation is straight up bending the rules in favor of a specific team.
There is no way to come to that conclusion in a rational way. The mask fell off there, and it's ugly

No he didn’t. Possession is possession. As Fouts correctly pointed out (shocking, I know), if that was an offensive play they wouldn’t have ruled he possessed the ball in terms of a catch.

My pants may be wet, but I'm super happy.
NO way the Steelers are winning all their remaining games. This offense is still too putrid.
Ehh 20 points was a decent outing. I think Duck can make juuuuuuust enough plays to make the offense good enough. If they score 20 a game, then they are winning at least 3/4.
You think today's performance is going to win out? Fair enough. Not buying it. Sooner or later, the D is going to have a merely good game instead of an elite one.
3/4. 10-6 is a pretty good chance at getting into the playoffs.

If the ruling of the touchback is "correct".
That means nearly every nfl player has been doing it wrong for years.
If all you need to do is demonstrate a grasp of the ball, then the whistle should blow at that moment.
NFL Players and Officials have had this all wrong since forever apparently.

Steelers need to win 3/4. beat the bills.
From what I can see the bills have NE and BAL left... if they lose 3 of their last 4... they are still 10-6. Steelers can be 10-6 if they win against the bill... and get in with the tiebreaker.
9-7... ugh... that's tough. Gonna need a few losses from some teams against weak opponents to do that.

its funny, the guy who wrote the page says that should be down as well.
Yet never has the NFL ruled that....
I guess until today when it benefited the browns.

I've said before the NFL has it's sacred cows, like NE. Other games are called simply to keep things close.
I knew with CLE down 7 there that the refs were going to find a way to screw us. And then they did it again because Dupree sacked Mayfield too hard.

Johnson is LOADED with talent.
He's a rookie and although I didn't like his demeanor after that play, we have no idea who fucked up there.
From what I see, Johnson doesn't like to lose and will fight his ass off. Has a ton of swagger and I have zero problem with any of that.

In this game, considering his personal outcome in the last one, I'd have forgiven more than he did.

Can we not say the NFL is into full on corruption at every orifice of the league? Such a waste, this league is going to end badly

There’s no reason that pass should have been thrown, no matter what route the receiver was running. Unless the goal was an interception, which would be odd on 1st down.
Duck made a few mistakes today, but this wasn’t a big one on his part. Johnson had inside position on a CB who had no safety help. The ball was right on target if Johnson doesn’t stop running.

Spoke to Steeler players about Mike Tomlin. Players on defense pointed to the adjustments made at half. They said he “straight up went high school football coach and drew up how they were going to defend Cleveland “ since they Browns showing a different look. “He saved the game”

10.1 YPA for Hodges yesterday. That is why we were able to build a 10 point lead.
We got behind by 10 points, the coaches were forced to open up the offense, we then forged a 10 point lead, the coaches then shut down the offense.
Yeah we are winning RS games, but this team is a pretender for the PS unless we start games more aggressive on offense.

Winning a playoff game with Hodges, no matter how aggressive the game plan is, would be an astounding achievement. It would be MIGHTY satisfying. We could lose the next round and I'd still be happier than a pig in shit.
