We do not need to get involved in a cheap shot war with the Sharks- we won't win that way.
Marleau was very subtle with how he hit Rust...there was no chance in hell he'd get disciplined- besides, the NHL wants a competitive series, so I think someone is going to have to kill someone for it to result in a suspension.
And Marleau does not have a history of goonery either.

San Jose's Patrick Marleau will not have a hearing with the NHL's Dept. of Player Safety about his high hit on Bryan Rust in Game 1.

He has a point, but he was still a bitter fuck about it.
Probably just thought he could have made a better effort to injure the opposing player. Hard to cause a concussion with a slash, but he could have at least tried.
Edit: There's a petition to have "the embarrassment that is Mike Millbury" fired on change.org that has 19,000 some supporters. I added my name to the list.

Play your game, play as a team, play for you teammates AND bring one home to the old school Yinzers that built and made Pittsburgh what it is.
City of Champions 2.0 Pens get the cup and the Steelers bring home #7 this season. Crosby & Malkin keep it close and HBK puts us over-the-top. Pens must play like that WANT IT.
No love for the Buccos winning the World Series?
Sorry I'm bringing this up again but I'm an old bitter fuck at times. Steelersfan is wrong with the 2.0 designation. It would be City of Champions 3.0. How the hell could you forget 1979? I don't give a shit how young you are, you're no Pittsburgh sports fan if you have no knowledge of 1979.

Pittsburgh sports fans should be required to remember that decade.
Pirates won championships in 1971 and 1979, and additionally went to the playoffs in 1970, 1972, 1974, and 1975.
Steelers went to the playoffs from 1972-1979, and of course won four Super Bowls while reaching the AFCCG in two other seasons.
Pitt won a national championship in college football.
And let's throw in a World Team Tennis championship and three playoff berths for the three seasons the Pittsburgh Triangles existed!

Wow...World Team Tennis and the Pittsburgh Triangles. I had forgotten all about that...or totally had erased it from my memory!

What a fabulous decade!
City of Champions 1.0 will never be matched! An unbelievable time period...
-- but back then a Stanley Cup win was not even imaginable! the early 90's SC runs were incredible
Great game by Schultzie last night picking up the slack for Trevor Daley. I have loved this guy from the beginning. JR robbed Edmonton, now we really must sign him for the future - much better than Pouliot.

No- the Pens only won a total of three playoff series in the decade (two of those series were only best of THREE series), and missed the playoffs 4 of 10 seasons. And some of this when back in the day when all but 5 teams made the playoffs. The joke was, there were always four teams and the Penguins who would miss the playoffs every year (although that mostly applied to the 1980s, where they missed the postseason six straight seasons and 7 out of 10).
The most ignominious failure was being up 3-0 to the Islanders, then losing four straight and then going bankrupt.
At least those days are long gone.

I'm starting to wonder if the play by Lovejoy wasn't the smart move or at least as not as dumb as it appeared.
I like my odds better with PP kill vs. guy coming around the net with a clean shot at Murray.
Also consider how Pens recently got burned by wrap around goals.

WHAT YOU’LL REMEMBER: GAME 1. EAT SHIT, PAUL MARTIN.
*Like most of us, I bet, I sure as fuck wasn't too confident entering the 3rd period. Pens...once again...surrender a two-goal lead. But Pens answered in the 3rd....to the point that I'm thinking game is going OT and Pens will win as they dominated the 3rd, mustering twice as many shots as the Sharks.
*I was mother-fuckin' on the penalty to Lovejoy, but then....though....shit, won't be any icing calls. I've been waking up throughout the night, every time, re-watching the last couple of minutes. The final 2:09 brought no whistles, and five clears of the puck by the Pens. Sharks never seriously threatened on their robust power play.
By the way....what IS the rule on the extent of the icing exemption while short-handed. I was a little worry that Letang's final clear was going to get whistled as the puck cleared the goal line couple seconds after the penalty had expired. I know it happens all the time where a final clear on a penalty transcends the expiration of the penalty, but what's the exact rule?
*This was noted last night, but per my count, this is the 6th time in the past 12 games that Pens have jumped to either a 2-0 or 3-0 lead and either....
a. Lost the game (Tampa Game #5)
b. Lost the lead (Washington, Game #6...Tampa, Game #2, San Jose Game #1), or...
c. Had us on the edge of our fuckin' seats hanging on (Washington, Game #3, Tampa, Game #6)
I ordinarily don't like the guy's writing, but Rob Rossi has a good piece on Murray today...he gives up goals, but hardly ever the one he can't afford to surrender.
*I didn't realize until last night that it was Bonino that scored the tying goal for Boston University in the 2009 National Championship game with 17 seconds left....the fucker is clutch.
*Three more wins to go!! I'm sticking with my prediction of a Penguins sweep...or...B2B's call of Pens in five. Wednesday's game is huge...I'm just remembering the old adage, "Never in trouble until you lose on home ice." Let's keep the home-ice advantage, take a 2-0 lead out to the West Coast!
Swiss you trying to be the white Dieon Sanders here by doing two sports? lol. Only thing I dont agree with is the sweep. We vacated a lot of west coast demons over the last couple years, but I still think they get one in their place. I will reserve that call depending on how new papa Malkin plays. When he's engaged in the non scoring leadership aspects of the game, like game 6 vs the lightning- this team hits another gear. And whats this with the late May babies? Ben, Jones, Malkin, if there are any Pirates on board with this I will suspect a frat style baby making pool.

That trade Kessel looks worse for Toronto than that bead trade the Dutch made for Manhattan. I think that it almost makes us even with Toronto for Bautisa.
Swiss...we need that Game 2 thread, man...

With all that hair, the way the equipment is too big for him and those skinny legs he could be mistaken for a really butch lingerie football player. Much respect to the most "try hard" guy in the league.
It would also help the karma thing if he would actually put the damn ball in the net with a regular hockey stick instead of a goaltenders stick.VeritasSteel wrote:Donnie Brasco wrote:Is this Pens or Steelers related??![]()

Arguing with idiots is like playing chess with a pigeon. No matter how good you are, the pigeon is going to shit on the board and strut around like it won anyway.

Starling Marte and Tony Watson both recently spent a few days away from the team on the "Paternity List", so...

I thought Malkin was easily the best defender on the ice for game 7 against the Bolts as well.
I also think that Sullivan sees this side of Malkin in the playoffs and is using that to his advantage. I have not re-watched game one or gone over the shift by shift match ups but I do recall Sullivan using the Malkin line as a sort-of checking line to open game one.
If that line can hem in the opposition and keep them from offensive zone possession Sullivan will get the Crosby line on the ice immediately and take advantage of tired guys or a better match up for the Pens.
I like the strategy from what I saw game one in that regard.
