Love the hipster in ya Lit, be who you are.

Something for everyone.

Or not, ?

For Ziv...one of my favorite trip songs, along with the Mad Season tune I posted.

Thanks Van, but I would also submit that hipsters are not in love with Neko Case, both the woman and the voice. I'm head over heels for both and have seen her live several times. One of the best acts in American music. Actually, Reign might really like Neko from what he's posted in the past.

Fuck, that voice!

But since STD has ever heard of her, her music is shit.

Great thread here guys.

Van 3rd Planet is a great song...the hook is original and immediate...then you pay attention to the lyric and its stoner profound.

The Neko Case sounds like the Lana Del Ray stuff I've heard...not really my thing but the right direction anyway. It's all about the delivery...not the virtuosity for me and female vocals...probably startling but I'm a Lucinda Williams fan...something so fucking sexy...yet comforting...in her voice-

I can dig Miss Case, Lit. Thanks bud. And sorry if I offended you about the hipster thing, but the comment about liking non-mainstream music had a strong whiff of hipster to it, if someone didn't know you. 8-)

I think it's something around 90 words in 15 seconds? I know that's not accurate, but it's close & fucking ridiculous regardless. At 4:25.

2nd vid didnt play '77.

M&M is just a talented generational talent. I don't even care for hip hop or rap much. You can't deny that guys talent.

Same way I felt about Q-Tip.

Punk attitude for a different generation/genre. Hip hop has gone main stream. Looking forward to the next wav e of culture shock.

I do like this style of hip hop, love a live band supporting a message. Some might remember the "Handlebars" song. The Roots were O.G.in that regard, you could go way back Public Enemy with Anthrax, talking strictly Hip Hop though.

Lol, my parents pushed us into the arts, Busdriver. ..very impressive though Lit, straight up talented. Not as ear friendly but I see what you're saying. Depends on the ear.

Im of the opinion songs dont have to be complex to be good/great. Music evokes feeling, I think that's why it's a universal language. Language can be simple but powerful. IMO.

P.S. Was he beat boxing after I think the 2nd chorus? 1st listen. If so that guy's fucking multi talented.

And Lit, I also think it's harder than ever for a band/rapper to stay relevant in this day & age. The video was genius in regards to how it went with the lyrics. That song/video brought a '98 hit guy straight to the top of kid's playlists. It's difficult if not unheard of these days.

Marketing plus ultra talent equals longevity. Eminen, while Im not a huge fan, will be in the HOF.

I love underground shit...the problem is most aren't around long enough to sustain it. Which leads to constantly searching. If it comes on my radar, i'll listen & push it on friends, but it gets frustrating when I fall in love with a band & they're one & done. Happens to often & im too busy.

Meow at 35, this is the last "new band" I found, when I was 27 with a new born.

They do kick some ass, my kid loves some punk & is into it.

Still going strong and still weird as ever.

Busdriver is never going to be super popular. But he has a devoted fan base and is more popular than you might suspect.

And one more for you Van. The rapping is by M. Sayyid of the Antipop Consortium, the turntables by Vdim and Primecuts. Now the rapping is very good (I think Sayyid is wonderful at word play), but what really gets me is the turntable work. 2:44 on is just pure hip hop fire and just reinforces, for me, how shitty most hip hop is now.

That's what I mean by ear friendly, laying sick shit on top of a simple chord change...kind of what blues was based on.

I'm open to everything that's good, i'd be lying if I said I am a fan of hip hop, casual fan, at best. I cut my teeth with Mr Bungle, so I enjoy weird talented bands. Patton is so fucking good.

I quit trying to keep up with newer acts, like I said earlier. ..if I get them fed to me, cool. If not, I kinda am good with my genre. Kid's & such make it hard to care about trivial things.
