Simple and subtle.

Just the way Chuck would have wanted it (assuming he'd have even wanted any patch at all)

They put out a Steeler lid with that on it I'm buying it.

And I haven't bought a piece of official NFL merchandise in 25 years. I've avoided the typical modern American hatred for the NFL one percenters simply by taking all the free entertainment and purchasing nothing from them or there advertisers. They nearly tagged me for rewind though...and they will find there way into my pocket for this.

Ya know...I'm firmly in the greed over altruism camp...but I get the feeling this could be a big year. On one hand I realize this generation has no real time memory of Noll and finds great offense in any discrimination but ageism. On the other hand I think there is a sense of just how important Noll was to the city and the sport.

If any of these players buy into being part of a long legacy, then this year with Chuck Noll's passing and Mean Joe Greene's number retirement ought to provide them with plenty of "emotional push".

Even if they use that push the way Joey Porter used it, which was in the sense of "I'm tired of them talking about the 1970s Steelers. I want to give them something about US to talk about".

When Harrison showed up, he didn't know who Lambert was and they both went to the same college.

Well- my OPINION is this stuff with Noll and Greene won't matter much to the current team.

Hopefully, ending their string of mediocrity is motivation is enough.

I am encouraged at what I am hearing from camp- lots of emotion and rage, which to me at least indicates the team isn't just going through the motions.

Now, Tomlin's job is to focus that onto the field.

That's just amazing to me.

In Harrisons defense Jack has been up in a forestry look out tower scaring campers who don't put out fires, not making alumi visits to Kent State or showing up to camp to offer advice on the position.

Hell there is an unconfirmed rumor that they had to send a smoke signal and a carrier pigeon just to let him know he was on the all 75 year team.

no shit...one would think kent state not being a hot bed for pro players would have lamberts photos up in locker rooms or weight rooms ect.. and tout this is place jack played college ball ect.. sheez. but im not sure james Harrison is the sharpest pencil in the box either. like the patch..is it going on jerseys or helmet?

I would assume if it was going on the helmets, it would have to be a decal rather than a patch. I can't find any reference to this design anywhere outside of this thread, so a link to the original source of this rumor would be nice.

You know Deebo is one bad MFer...but that doesn't mean some of it isn't contrived. At some point he was a fan of the game...just like every player that isn't a kicker. He knew who all the 70s Steelers were imo...but even acknowledging there existence would take away from the baddest man in the NFL persona he thrives on. I mean, that unspotted floor press on vine is some sick shit. He really sends all the wrong messages for a guy looking for a job.

But anyway...I think nearly all of the players are aware of Chucks significance to this team. I think most of the guys that fight there ass off for a roster spot or a starting job are aware of how exclusive of a club they are in. I know I'm a hard man when it comes to emotional shit...and the whole thing still chokes me up a bit. But some of that is a one two punch...I see those old pictures of Chuck on shoulders at 3 rivers and I get home sick...it's been about 15 years...then I start thinking about cutting school for opening day Pirates at 3 rivers in 83 or working security on the Clipper shuttle from 89-91 and I get time sick as well. Players can't relate to that much...yet...but I do think they can relate to being in an even more exclusive club by getting the whole thing done for the 7th time this year.

If anyone can repost, please do. I get nothing from the link on the 1st post. Which makes it ironic, since that would be exactly the patch Chuck would want.
