Jaylin Samuels and Washington...
Jaylin Samuels and Washington...
It was great to see both of them have what I think are breakout games. Samuels had the more impressive game of the two obviously but it is great to see rookies having an impact as we push for the playoffs.
I think Jaylin, just like Conner, only needed opportunity to show what he can do. 142 yards rushing, and another 30 yards on 2 catches. His only blemish was that one play where he failed to pick up the blitz up the middle. Again, though, still a rookie, still learning the pro game. I think this game showed that his running instincts are actually quite good but will only get better the more he is able to play and run with the ball.
A one two combo of Conner and Samuels is pretty exciting moving forward. Conner still under contract for the next two seasons, so this combo will play together for 2019 and 2020. Yeah, I still maybe add another 3rd rounder in the mix, maybe somebody with breakaway speed who can return kicks and add that explosive element. Much better to have a RB by committee and not just run the wheels off of one single running back.
Washington. I have been on his wagon from day one. My two favorite WRs coming out were James Washington and Anthony Miller. I still think that Washington will become a big time player for us. I think just like JuJu he can play a physical game and he has deceptive speed. This is not Limas Sweed. He is a humble player and has a great work ethic. 2 years from now nobody is going to care that he started slow as a rookie. Antonio Brown had 16 catches as a rookie, Hines Ward had 15 catches as a rookie. Washington now has 13 catches on the year with two games remaining. I cut him some slack, not all Steeler WRs are going to do what JuJu has done so early in his career.

On that sideline catch Washington was possessed by the spirit of Lynn Swann in SB X.

Very happy for both and we need those both for next few weeks moving forward a special thanks to Eli rodgers who made some nice plays.
If only Colbert was half as good at drafting DBs as he is WRs...
Nice to see Washington and Samuels shine. We are definitely set at RB for a while.

Howard Griffith had to resort to chop-blocking him during the 1997 AFC Championship Game. An incredulous Kirkland asked Griffith, “Why do you have to use cheap tactics like chop-blocking?” Griffith replied “Why do you have to be a 300-pound linebacker?”

Great job by both of these men.
They were good today. The bigger deal though was that Artie Burns got the nod to start at CB and wasn’t victimized by Tom Brady.
Oh wait. Now I hear he got benched after the Hogan TD.

I thought Samuels ran like a beast today, not Betty White. My only beef is they didn’t give him the ball near enough. Dude had 7 carries for 70 in the first half, he should have had 15 carries by half. Steelers would have won by double digits had they run the ball more.
Samuels is a crafty runner... he finds a way to get small and sneak through some holes for significant gains.

Rogers carried the first quarter and Washington carried the third to an extent. Now this is a dose of what this team can do AB, JuJu, Switzer, Rogers, Washington, Vanimal, James, Grimble, Samuels, Conner with Ben distributing the rock. That is a daunting task for any D to slow down. We really just need to get to the post season and we can make some noise as long as we are trying score every drive.

Samuels has some nice burst today especially turning the corner. Didn't see as much of that last week probably because of the shit field in Oakland.
Today, Washington looked more like the player I remembered from the preseason.
Just a great game and beating those assholes closes a great sports weekend.

Couldn't have thought of a better game and better time of the season than this one. Welcome to the NFL both Washington and Samuels. SBI
I thought the same but you have to consider if his yards per carry were there because we were passing so much and it opened up the run. If he had 15 or more carries his yards per carry goes down quite a bit.StillerDownSouth wrote:I thought Samuels ran like a beast today, not Betty White. I'm of the thought that when you pass too much 3 things can happen and 2 of them are bad and Ben/oline proves that regularly.
so much talent on offense.....If Ben could just not be a greedy mofo and stop throwing unnecessary 50/50 balls.

I just think they get lazy and rely on Ben being great too much. Patriots suck against the run, we should have been more balanced today.

Yes i agree about Ben just have to play smart and use all the weapons
38 is my guy - was stoked they were able to grab him when they did in the haul
He is one helluva all around weapon to have on your roster and can handle the load with Ridley down the stretch at a high level.
Lets Fucking Go

Eli sucked. He caused the second interception. Switzer should not be replaced by Eli.

Is a spent Defense one of the 3?

I am not sure how he caused the interception. I thought it should have been DPI and was just him trying to move through a screen on which he was being held while the ball was in the air. Ball could have gone to Brown or ElI, hence why I think it could have been called DPI.

He cut the wrong way into Brown. If he cut inside, Brown easily makes the catch. Instead he ran into Brown.

a 1-2 punch of Connor and Samuels is looking quite exciting!!

That is an interesting take. The guy has not played a snap all year comes in in week 14 no reps, and in a must win situation has several nice plays yet in a timing play with nor real game time is slightly out of position and he sucks

I will have to watch replay again. In my mind’s eye I have it like a pick play, no pun intended. Was a bizarre play though. I am pretty sure my mind’s eye has some clouding, possible future cataract.

The type of run plays they installed best used Samuels skillset. That was gameplanning to your talent. Great job by fichtner et al.
He still seems average at best on dives...etc. I'd rather see ridely on goalline situations if they're going up the gut.

I thought Eli played well on the balls thrown to him. Opens the playbook to go 5 wide - AB, Juju, Washington, Switzer, and Eli.
Switzer is fine but goes down with a wind gust. And he should never see time rushing the ball.

switzer took some nice hits his season and held onto the ball.
