Great article Sham. You hit the nail on the head regarding the excitement around the trade deadline this year. The Bucs have a great opportunity to really improve this ball club. Our prospect depth in the outfield is very good, which happens to be our biggest strength on the club. With McCutchen, Polanco and Marte, we can afford to part with some of our better outfield prospects. And if we can get Byrd, making Marte available for a trade, we'll have some great bargaining chips. I can't wait to see what happens!

I don't necessarily disagree but if it gets them a possible championship this year....

I don't look at it as giving up on Marte, I look at it as making the team better. Wouldn't give them much more though.

I guess it depends on the return. Yes the dudes strike zone awareness is fucked up and he generally seems to have a screw loose upstairs, but I think it's hard to replace his speed, arm and range IMO.
Oddly enough, Snider is actually hitting pretty well right now
To me, they need another good starter, bullpen arm or two and a first baseman. Is Napoli still in Boston? Is he hurt? He would be a good stretch run rental..

Don't get me wrong, I don't want to trade Matte. But to get something, you have to give something. (Although Huntington has become very good at getting something for as little as possible.)
I don't want to see Snider in any role other than PHer. He has been about as reliable as you can expect off the bench. We've seen him as (semi) everyday player. Not pretty.
I seriously think they have no intention on addressing 1B. I think they are hoping Ike goes on his usual second half tear.
CMo ain't looking anywhere near worthy of the huge mancrush steel has on him today.

Man I'd be tempted to pull the plug on CMo right now --- he's sucking majorly, the 'pen is fresh and we should go shopping for another arm by the deadline anyway (yeah, right).
We climbed back in it, now don't let it get away again . . .

Morton is pitching like a bitch today.
You can't hit a guy on an 0-2 count, especially to load the bases. Then he throws a batting practice pitch that gets lined for an RBI single. He's hit 18 batters, twice as many as anyone else in baseball.

His unwritten rulebook is more extensive than most.

This!
We need a shut down inning here. If CMo starts struggling, pull him.

1st pitch in the bottom of the 4th, base hit. CMo has given up 8 hits and a couple of walks in 3 innings pitched. We're lucky to have only given up 4 so far.
