This Team Has Heart!!!
This Team Has Heart!!!
There is no question. 1-4, starting, and dare say, legendary QB, out for the season from injury sustained in the second game. We've had injuries, many key, up and down the roster this season, and yet....here we are. 7-5 and in control of the sixth seed of the playoff picture. I love, absolutely LOVE, the way this defense is playing this year.
Full props to the front office for making the one shrewd trade, and a few others, to help this struggling team, and help they have, particularly Minkah! But let's not forget TJ, Bud, Cam, Hargraves, Devin, Joe, and a bunch of other Black and Gold defenders who are laying it out there down after down, week after week. This team is a sheer delight to watch, after seasons filled with massively talented offensive players who were not enough to generate a championship. And that offense...the line has struggled at times this season, but they came together pretty damn well this past week. We have a solid running back by committee, and I'd like to see them stay that way, though I am a fan of Benny Snell football. Go Duck and go Coach Tomlin! You guys are making it happen, and coach may be putting together his best year ever having to face some of the greatest challenges a head coach in the National Football League may possibly face.
Let's GO kick some ass down the stretch, boys!

The defense is back in Pittsburgh
Steve Nelson doesn’t get enough credit
He is playing great
Solid addition

I agree. The Steelers are full of heart and grit. Tomlin should be considered COTY if he can get into the playoffs and win there too.
Secure NHALS early and then go deep into the PLAYOFFS.

And it should be noted that two teams currently at the top of their divisions barely got past the steelers (niners and ravens). Seahawks game was also competitive.
Arguing with idiots is like playing chess with a pigeon. No matter how good you are, the pigeon is going to shit on the board and strut around like it won anyway.
And the team continues to WIN as a TEAM with heart! Guts and heart, man, this team has it in abundance. It all starts with the Head Coach. Whatever arm chair coaches might say or think about gameday decisions, this man has been able to lead a team with all the losses in star power and personnel to the 6th seed of the playoff tournament with 3 games remaining.
D is playing lights out right now. Are there some weaknesses, sure, but not many. Players are stepping up. On O and D, players most of us never heard of before this year, or even before a few weeks ago, are plugged in and contributing. Duck is a great story. As Swiss says, it's D and D baby! Duck and Defense!
I have to tell you guys, man. I'm more excited about this season than any since 2010. Without question. No matter what happens from here on out, I am grateful to this team, this organization, this coach, this front office, and this group of men who are playing as one, as a team, with no primadona's, no divas, just players, playing their hearts out and leaving it all out on the field after every play.
Mean Joe Greene, arguably the greatest defensive tackle to ever play the game, was willing to forego glory and stats and essentially be a NT clogging the middle with the Stunt 4-3. Let others make the tackles and sacks and get the glory. Jack Ham said that if someone of that calibre is willing to sacrifice their personal glory for the good of the team, then EVERYONE knew they had to play that way. It was the Noll way, and Mean Joe bought into it 100% because he wanted to WIN. This is what I see a little of in this team this year. These men are willing to sacrifice and work together as a team in order to win. Those in the media and talking heads who think we're a "paper tiger" and not worthy of being in the discussion of a champion, I say bullshit. Let's see. This will be a big challenge this week. I think the Bills leave the field bloodied, humbled and with another rung in the L column.
Let's GO!

Damn straight this team has heart.
Secure NHALS early and then go deep into the PLAYOFFS.

I can honestly say that I have never seen “heart” win a football game. Or a baseball game, basketball game, hockey game, wrestling match...on and on. When the lights come on, you better perform...period.
But if one believes in that crap and it makes your day brighter...

In the movie I think he had more than 1 play. But it is motivational for some.Jobu wrote: ↑Wed Dec 11, 2019 9:22 pmIt’s impossible to achieve beyond ones abilities. Welcome back MJG!!! I agree, this has been one of my favorite Steeler teams in quite some time as well, I was so sick of watching shitty defense and me first guys like AB and Bell.
It’s been a long time since I’ve seen the movie, but iirc, he covered a kick then played one defensive snap.Texas Black & Gold wrote: ↑Wed Dec 11, 2019 9:28 pmIn the movie I think he had more than 1 play. What was the stat? Only 3% of teams or only 3 teams have made the playoffs starting 0-3?

HAIL VICTORY MOTHERFUCKERS!!! HAIL VICTORY!!! I believe we have a fighting chance!
Gentleman, I am touched, truly.
Just calling it as I see it. I know my view is not shared by many. I stick by my guys, unless they give me reason not to, which is pretty rare. I feel outsiders don't usually know what they are looking at. I love how Chuck Noll wouldn't even let outsiders get much of a glimpse, of course he coached in a different era, one without 24/7 sports news and social media.
Heart is an intangible quality. When your back is up against the wall, sure you better perform and perform well in order to move forward. But if you don't have that intangible "something" you probably aren't going to get far, even if you are performing. The two go hand in hand. When the season has been tough, when the opponent has been smacking you in the mouth over and over again, it is easy to roll over at some point, late in the game, late in the season. Drive, determination, a sense of pride, and heart will persevere. When your talent is a little less, these intangibles can propel you to success.
The young guys on our team who are demonstrating these intangibles has made this season one for the ages, one everyone can tell their grand-children, and great-grandchildren about. Even more if we make the playoffs and once you are in, anything can happen when a team plays with heart. Anything.
