Prediction - Gentry 80 Yards Receiving Against Bills
Vance is out I assume...Time for Gentry to assume the TE responsibilities...will be par for the course for a rookie to rescue the position.
You don't think it would be Vannett?

I predict the TE position will co tinue to get ignored like it always does.
Seriously. They dusted-off Haley's old playbook to run the vaunted U-shaped offense.
Doubt we see any change or growth from the offense. They're going to ride-or-die with the 'D'. That's the way Tomlin has always wanted it.

Yes, yes, and yes.
I tell you what...if Gentry has 80 receiving yards against the Buff Bills, I will self impose a posting ban til the end of the regular season.
I just can’t get my mind around why they continually ignore a position that every other NFL utilizes.

Gentry did more in 2 games than Vannett has done in
10.
I am exaggerating somewhat, but I like what I saw with Gentry. I think he would have benefited from the post Switzer resurgence!
Don’t you see what this means? Duck will be able to baby bird feed Gentry! He can literally throw up to feed Gentry...the ball.
Can you guys stop quoting the wooden cock??

Well Kittle did go in the 4thSteelafan77 wrote: ↑Thu Dec 12, 2019 2:58 amUnless a "Blue Chip" super athletic Blocking, soft handed combat catching TE falls in the draft to the mid-late part of the 1st or 2nd RND's Never Happen!![]()
Ummm no, he went in the 5th. Eleven picks AFTER we selected the great Josh Dobbs.StillerDownSouth wrote: ↑Thu Dec 12, 2019 3:04 amWell Kittle did go in the 4thSteelafan77 wrote: ↑Thu Dec 12, 2019 2:58 amUnless a "Blue Chip" super athletic Blocking, soft handed combat catching TE falls in the draft to the mid-late part of the 1st or 2nd RND's Never Happen!![]()
Jesse James, Xavier Grimble, and Ladarius Green we’re our TE’s going into that draft.
If only Dri Archer’s lil brother was available they could have taken him instead of Kittle too.

I predict that at least one of our TE's will jump offsides.
Ehh...Gentry did more in 2 games than Vannett has done in 10
Vannett in 10 games...7 receptions for 70 yards
Gentry in 2 games (plus one snap in a 3rd) O receptions for 0 yards.
Not much for Vannett. Nothing for Gentry.
The vaunted U shaped offense gets post of the day. Hopefully either the TE or a judiciously used Juju can help that phenomenon.
Nothing left to do but smile, smile, smile...

This board has to let the 'Kittle' thing go.955876 wrote: ↑Thu Dec 12, 2019 10:23 pmUmmm no, he went in the 5th. Eleven picks AFTER we selected the great Josh Dobbs.StillerDownSouth wrote: ↑Thu Dec 12, 2019 3:04 amWell Kittle did go in the 4thSteelafan77 wrote: ↑Thu Dec 12, 2019 2:58 am

Every team passed on him multiple times, some 5 times. Only a few posters here actually called for the Steelers to draft Kittle.
Sure Dobbs was a lousy pick and I wouldn't have touched him until the 6th round. Actually, I thought he was in the FA range.
Kittle is a 'move' TE a position the Steelers rarely if ever draft. They like their TE's to be bigger than Kittle. I'm not sure the Steelers braintrust would have known what to do with Kittle. He landed in the perfect place out in SF where his talents are being used to the max.
If I look at that draft and could change one pick-I'd take Eddie Jackson over Conner who went 7 picks earlier.
And looking back at that draft the Steelers came away with RB depth, a MONSTER OLB and a receiver who has already had a 100 reception season. Not bad work even though they reached for Dobbs.

It's 2020 and you live in California. You're probably good.

Oh I’m certainly up to speed in terms of CA.Professor Half Wit wrote: ↑Fri Dec 13, 2019 5:48 pmIt's 2020 and you live in California. You're probably good.
More of an indictment than a legit excuse.Kittle is a 'move' TE a position the Steelers rarely if ever draft. They like their TE's to be bigger than Kittle. It was nice work agreed. And looking back at that draft the Steelers came away with RB depth, a MONSTER OLB and a receiver who has already had a 100 reception season. Not bad work even though they reached for Dobbs.
However, the TE position was bad then and it’s still bad now.
It’s just a shame they missed on a great talent to instead take a clipboard holder.

It drives me crazy that the Steelers ignore the position. Look at guys they have drafted at that position after taking Miller with a #1. All those years and they used only one premium pick. Tells me what they think of the position. Then again, they wasted draft capitol year after year on the defense and just now got it fixed(with FA bringing them their starting CB's).955876 wrote: ↑Fri Dec 13, 2019 7:30 pmIt was nice work agreed. And looking back at that draft the Steelers came away with RB depth, a MONSTER OLB and a receiver who has already had a 100 reception season. Funny thing about the 2017 draft-the Steelers struck gold with their premium picks while the 49ers got Kittle in the fifth and DJ Jones in the 6th.

Exactly. No affinity for Michigan...can’t explain it either. Saw his high school highlights, and college highlights, and then know his size....just hoping for a diamond in the rough, and I believe they are under utilizing him. I saw him with decent blocks when he was in for his 40 or so snaps. How can he not be successful!?

I freakin begged for DJ Jones. He even played in the MAC and was within driving distance. I don't know how they missed on him.fractalsteel wrote: ↑Fri Dec 13, 2019 8:24 pmFunny thing about the 2017 draft-the Steelers struck gold with their premium picks while the 49ers got Kittle in the fifth and DJ Jones in the 6th.
