who going to coach the WR's
I was reading the Mike Tomlin was supposed to make a decision on the WR coaching spot while down in Mobile.
Now that Sphincter has been relieved of QB duties he can pick it up.

There's a notoriously hard working former Steelers WR great who's currently looking for work...
but seriously, I would like to see us hire another creative mind from the college ranks.

Oh...I thought he was talking about Antonio Brown. My bad

More like two prima donnas, one stage/ audience.
Arguing with idiots is like playing chess with a pigeon. No matter how good you are, the pigeon is going to shit on the board and strut around like it won anyway.
Yeah, count me as somebody who wants Tomlin and the Steelers to hire a younger, ambitious WR coach who can add another mind to supporting Fitchner and developing this offense. Back in the day, Chan Gailey was our WR coach who really became the passing game coordinator under Erhardt. Todd Haley, when he was in Dallas, coached the WRs but was their passing game coordinator. It isn't just QB coaches that become tomorrow's offensive coordinators, but WR coaches too.
The Steelers have to approach this with a long game in mind. Ben might have just two years left, they have to start developing capable assistant coaches that can be promoted down the road. When Ben is done, you have a clean slate, the Steelers offense, however you define it with Ben, when he is gone, it is gone. What will be the Steelers identity on offense then? They have to start planting the seeds for that day now, hiring young, bright coaches where one of them will evolve into our next OC and create that post-Ben offense.
I like that in the course of two years time, we now have RB coach Eddie Faulkner, QB coach Matt Canada, and perhaps a new WR coach to complete the trifecta. I like that Faulkner and Canada have experience coaching together at NC State and Northern Illinois. Canada has actually coached both James Conner and Jaylin Samuels in college. He also coached Michael Turner back at Northern Illinois.

I to hope they find a young guy who thinks outside the box but Tomlin seems to like those Veteran WR Coaches especially with the Young Players he currently has on the roster.

“I pride myself in creating discomfort for myself and others,” Tomlin said, “I’m fundamentally against comfort.” [3-24-2024]
He was just hired as OC by the Panthers.Steelafan77 wrote: ↑Wed Jan 22, 2020 11:17 pmJoe Brady...

I still think Hines would be a great hire.
He was a little things guy almost out of the gate. Never the tallest, strongest and/or fastest, but he focused on all the little things and got blood from the rock.
The organization could use a dose of that.
He was a champion on the field and off! Even AB couldn’t duplicate the DWTS trophy.
And he would sure as hell help the running game. I bet he would be on their asses about blocking down field 24/7/365.25
Nothing helps receivers and QBs like a good running game. Blocking like bad asses transfers juice to the defense too...either virtually by firing them up with a good slobber knocker or literally by extending drives and letting them charge up more.

I'm not saying it's the worst idea, but former players have not exactly worked out for us as coaches with a high success rate.

and good doers aren’t always good teachers.
Green, Greene, Lake, Porter, Olsavski....few off the top of my head...nobody going in the HOF for coaching on the list above.

I guess that the senior bowl passed Tomlin convinced Sherman to hang around.
Would love to see Greene and Hines come back to coach. Two heart and soul guys. How great would it be to have them around the young players? Probably makes too much sense and might take some attention away from the HC.
Howard Griffith had to resort to chop-blocking him during the 1997 AFC Championship Game. An incredulous Kirkland asked Griffith, “Why do you have to use cheap tactics like chop-blocking?” Griffith replied “Why do you have to be a 300-pound linebacker?”
Didn't seem to care about that when Pal Joey and Carnell Lake were his coaches.

Not close to the same imo. Joey always was a thug and I don't think anyone took him seriously as a "coach". Lake wasn't the emotional, outspoken guy like those two. Great player but he wasn't the one the reporters went to for the entertaining quotes. Hines and Greene were bigger personalities and fan favorites. Having them on the sidelines might bring a little of that Cowher fire I miss.

I hear Dwight Stone is interviewing soon.

Lynch really
Yes, really. Rooney has also reportedly shown an interest in hiring a sports psychologist. Former receiver Limas Sweed is among the frontrunners being considered.
