Voted for Boselli, Hutchinson, Atwater, Lynch and James. No Troy and no Faneca. Also, they only discussed Faneca for 9:28 vs 36:00 for Boselli and Hutchinson for 21:20. Who was the mental midget who couldn't come up with more than 10 minutes about one of the best guards ever?

Also, check out this imbecile's reasoning for not voting for Troy. They should strip this clown of his vote.

I believe he was one of the top five candidates this year, and I believe in voting for the best five candidates. But because I felt certain Polamalu would make it regardless of my vote, I decided to vote for three players I felt were marginal after listening to the deliberations—Atwater, Boselli and Lynch. I don’t feel great about doing that, honestly. Our jobs are to vote for the best five, and I was totally on the fence about the fifth yea vote had I marked down Polamalu. It still bothers me a little bit. But I felt so strongly about the cases of Atwater, Boselli and Lynch, who were exceedingly close in my eyes, that I wanted to vote for them, knowing that a vote not for Polamalu was not going to keep him out. I’ve done this a couple of times before, and I absolutely do not want to make it a habit. It just felt like the right thing to do this year.

In no way, shape, or form should Atwater or Lynch be selected over Troy.

Ditto Boselli over Faneca - Faneca was selected to the All Pro team more times than Tony Boselli had total seasons

Any way PK wants to justify it is wrong. Period.

Boselli only started 90 games for fucking sake. That's not even 6 seasons vs 6 times first team all-pro.

It sucks for Boselli but he should go into the "hall of really good players whose careers were cut short by injuries" TFFPK is a joke.

Piling on here...Perhaps in a moment of swarmy or low blood sugar, King admitted to not even watching the games on Sundays instead focusing on meeting the deadline for his MMQB column.
For that admission alone King should've been stripped of any HOF voting privilege.

That can of worms was opened when they let Terrell Davis in. He was on his way to being in the HOF but shouldn't have been let in based on his limited body of work.

You can go back to Gale Sayers who made the HOF after only playing in 68 games. What he did in those 68 games was phenomenal. Knee injuries back in those days were the end to most players careers.

Sayers was all-pro in his first 5 years ( out of 7) Way different than Davis. And can you tell the story of the NFL without Sayers? Not during that time period. Most people do not remember Davis.

I 100% agree on Davis, but it was his post season success that ultimately got him in.

Sayers is a bit different. He was barely outside the top 10 in all time rushing yards when he retired, and his per-season stats were unprecedented for players not named Jim Brown.

Gale Sayers was phenomenal. Sometimes, you just watch a player and know. I’d put Troy in that category. Along with guys like Mel Blount, Lawrence Taylor, Jim Brown, Jerry Rice, etc.

I don't get the love for Atwater at all, just never thought he was a Hall of Famer. Yeah, he was a first rounder, yeah, he was a big hitter, but his overall game was just really blah to me.

There was another safety drafted in 1989, in the second round and I feel he was better than Atwater.

That safety scored 5 TDs off of INTs and FRs. Atwater only had 1 TD off of an INT.

That 2nd round safety could do it all, play in coverage, play up close to the line of scrimmage, play the run, blitz.

That 2nd round safety had 25 sacks. Steve Atwater only had 5 sacks.

That 2nd round safety was so good in coverage that when the team had an injury to one of their starting CBs, an All Pro by the way, that 2nd round safety moved to CB and proceeded to make the Pro Bowl and go to the Super Bowl. Did Atwater ever do that??

No, I have a hard time understanding how Steve Atwater is a Hall of Famer when he wasn't even the best safety drafted in 1989. The best safety drafted in 1989 was Carnell Lake.

Carnell Lake was a Linebacker in college who converted to safety in the NFL and made the Pro Bowl as both a Safety and Cornerback.

What I hate about the HOF is how it has become a participation trophy sort of thing now. The NFL and the voters all feel that each team is now deserving of having a player inducted at some point, whether they are deserving or not. And these ideas that some teams have filled their quota, that they are too well represented is just bullshit. There are probably some voters that feel the Steelers shouldn't have anymore players inducted, they have way too many in there already, blah, blah, blah.

I remember this story a couple years back, there were actually some voters banging the table for FB Lorenzo Neal. WTF?? Yeah, he had a nice career, 4 time Pro Bowler, but he was really a stereotypical FB, a blocker who did not run the ball and did little as a receiver. And he played for 7 NFL teams, he went from team to team to team.

Now, I am not against a FB making the HOF. I would love to see John L Williams make it some day. He is my all time favorite Fullback, the true standard at the position. John L Williams could block, could run and could catch, he did it all.

Lorenzo Neal had 807 yards rushing for his career and 6 rushing TDs.
John L Wiliams had 5,006 yards rushing and 18 rushing TDs for his career.

Lorenzo Neal had 199 catches for 1,028 yards, a 5.5 yard per catch and 12 TDs.
Williams had 546 catches for 4,656 yards, an 8.5 yards per catch and 19 TDs.

Neal never sniffed 100 yards rushing or receiving in a single game. Williams had 10 such games, 6 100+ yards rushing, 4 100+ yards receiving. He even had an 11 catch, 137 yard receiving game in one playoff game.

Williams could do the blocking, he was not the feature back after all, the Chris Warrens, the Curt Warners, they were the 1,000 yard rushers that made the Pro Bowl with Williams as their fullback. And yet, Williams was such a complete player that he almost had a combined 10,000 yards of total offense in 10 seasons. This fullback, he averaged 65 yards of offense per game. He was capable of being the feature back, was capable of being leaned upon to save the day.

What is crazy is that some voters will bang the table for Lorenzo Neal and then roll their eyes at John L Williams. And since John played his last two seasons with us, he now has a big red scarlett 'S' on his forehead. Voters will only remember that he was a former Steelers and determine that he isn't worthy because those damn Steelers have too many players in the Hall.

John L. Williams was IMO one of the best fullbacks of all time and one of my favorites on those early Cowher teams.

Still brought it at a high level even at the end of his career.

Yes “Everybody deserves a shot” reasoning is silly.

If your borderline players are not in the top 5, you don’t vote for them...period.

Otherwise the HoF starts to become meaningless.

I always thought of Sayers as being that kind of unbelievable/generational talent that the HOF made an exception for because his type of knee injury was a career ender back then. Then came Davis. sorry, he had several great years but HOF worthy, not in my opinion. Unfortunately, this opened up the door to guys like Boselli. It really cheapens the HOF and the result is absolutely worthy guys like Faneca have to wait while voters like needle dick King promote their pet projects. Someone at the HOF should lay down the law and make sure then end this shit. Vote for the most worthy players...period.

I do not think that Sayers was an exception. How many players are considered the best at their position their first 5 years in the NFL? Not Jerry Rice. Not Anthony Munoz. Not Reggie White.

Jim Brown
Jim Otto
Lawrence Taylor
Ron Mix
Gale Sayers

But I do agree on the T. Davis crap. 1 good season and one phenomenal season.
