Pens v. Canes (3/8)
Blah blah blah. Just play better. Canes are a very average team but are pushing for a Wild Card spot.

Great shot by Geno. Better screen by Horny.
2-1 good guys.

Great great screen by Hornqvist on the PP goal

Good period. Better intensity that was clearly missing yesterday. Crosby still needs to shoot the puck.

Agree on all accounts. Pressure at the end there was great.
And yep, instead of passing to Zucker there, he needed to shoot.

Well that period sucked. More of the same stupid shit.

They are becoming difficult to watch.
So they lose 6 in a row, win 2 against shitty teams, get smoked by the Caps and about to lose to an average Canes team. Given how close the standings are, playoffs are no certainty, and if they do get in a 1st round match uo against the Caps or Flyers is going to be ugly.

This team is a motherfucking dumpster fire. What is that, 2-8 in our last 10 games???
Someone else do game thread duty. Fuck this shit.

This team sucks. Get blown out by the Caps and Canes back to back.
And no way Jake Guentzel fixes this shit.

And why does Bob Errey keep talking about “breaks”. Good teams make their own breaks. We are terrible right now.

So much for steelers offseason entertainment.
This team blows. Lost it's mojo.

Arguing with idiots is like playing chess with a pigeon. No matter how good you are, the pigeon is going to shit on the board and strut around like it won anyway.

Yeah, these guys are bad. Went from a top 3 team to average in a few weeks. Coach and GM should be roasted in the media.

5 unanswered goals.
Down 4 and on the PP and they just toss the puck around looking for the perfect play.
Pens win 60% of the FO's yet on three of the losses they give up goals from the point.
If they didn't hit bottom today then they are not making the playoffs.
Oh yeah, the Subway commercials with the Watt brothers blow. No wonder considering the franchise.

You might be right. With all of the games against the Metro, they may be out of the playoffs in a week or so. That would be so unfortunate. But at this point do we want them to make it only to get smoked?

We could absolutely not make the playoffs at this point. We only have 2 or three games against not Metro teams, correct?

As the eternal optimist of the hockey threads....it definitely pains me to no end to say that this team is in trouble.
DK reported last night that some very prominent team leaders basically ran out of the locker room before the media was allowed in.
He didn't name names, nor will I guess at any and nor does it really matter.
That's very unsettling.
But not quite as unsettling as this quote from Teddy Blueger
“I don’t think it’s really Xs-and-Os," Teddy Blueger said of the Penguins' struggles. "I think it’s more attitude and work ethic and will to win than anything.”
What happened to the team from 2 months ago that would have gone through a brick wall for a point in the standings? That's about all I could talk about in December was how this team never quit and was never out of a game.
There's been a complete 180. To quote my high school football coach when my team had a similar trait "I'm going to need to hire a therapist to talk to you guys every time we give up a touchdown". This team is getting to be the same way. They compete for a period, but then they give up a goal or two and they quit.
I'm wondering if there's a divide of players trying to play Sully's way, and then a batch of players trying to do their own thing, which is leading to those breakdowns that are causing all the odd man rushes. Are the guys who are trying to do it the right way getting disgruntled at the lack of buy-in causing them to shut down as well? Like, they're tied after the first period, but then let up a bad goal to start the second, so the rest of the guys are just saying "Fuck this. If they're not going to try, then I'm not either", and that leads to 6-2 ass whoopings?
I dunno. But I also don't know if I've ever seen a team with as much promise, and as much momentum tank like this.

I found Sid's post game interview a bit odd.
He basically said that the current play was something teams go through. Also, the effort could be better but this is how the puck bounces from time to time.
He looked like he was grasping for answers.
It will be interesting to see if Sully shakes up the lines next game. He did it a bit yesterday but only for a few shifts then it was back to status quo.
I hate the idea that we miss the playoffs and then we have no first rounder in what is considered a deep draft.
