It's been a while, peeps. Good to be back picking.

At 49, I had 5 guys on my short list, 2 of them were my ideal picks at that spot if I hadn't traded down. I thought maybe it would be a pipe dream to try and get both guys AND more picks for a team that started with just 6––only one of which was in the top 100. So, I traded back and made a plan to trade up to try and the first of the two... and one of them went EARLY. So, plan B: sit tight, get one of them, and enjoy the extra pick. But you guys made it rough... you selected my backup plan and my backup backup plan, so I had to pray my choice from 49 made it this far. Praise be to Jobu!

I love this guy. You're going to love him, too. He's smart, unfazed by the step-up in competition at his all-star game, and a leading OL guru had this to say about him:

Converted tight end who has added 75 pounds of good weight since stepping on campus but retained his plus movement. Despite a lack of experience and small-school background, his traits and rapid growth in body and play caught the eye of Senior Bowl evaluators. From a skill standpoint, he's still an undergrad, but on pace for his degree in tackle studies. He's an enticing left tackle prospect who continues to evolve, but a step up in competition and a need for continued physical development will require patience and could determine whether his final calling is swing tackle or starter.

We feel his weaknesses are coachable and he's got the right personality for the OL huddle: plays hard, competitive, keeps it loose. And he seems like the type that will be best friends with his new QB.
