Our federal government allowing the illegal purchase of firearms by Mexican cartels is a “nothing burger”

Even when one of those firearms kills a border patrol agent.

Got it.

Maybe someday your dream will come true and that nitwit AOC will be in charge. She can abolish ICE and CBP.

That way there won’t be any need for cartels to murder our border patrol agents with guns they acquired illegally with the aid of our “progressive leadership”.
You guys REALLY don’t like that AOC lady.

1) she’s a lady and 2) she’s brown! Damn!

That’s a Trump supporter’s nightmare. She should “go back where she came from”, right Cletus?

Do you watch Deliverance for the sex scenes?

Shit. That’s almost as bad as a kid legally being able to buy an AR-15 then walking into Stoneman Douglas and wiping out a shit ton of his classmates and teachers.

What was done to keep that from happening again?

The sheriffs office as well as FBI both received tips in regards to Cruz’s threats to shoot up a school. Those agencies failed.

What I fail to see is how that failure on the part of law enforcement agencies equates to it being ok that our government was taking part in arming Mexican cartels?

You couldn’t hit water from a boat when you try to disparage me. It’s really funny.

1) I’m a big fan of women. Love & respect em.

2) Fan of brown people too. In fact, my wife is Hispanic.

3) not into male on male sex. Not that there is anything wrong with it if that’s what floats your boat.

I don’t dislike AOC for her gender or color (shit, that’s all she has going for her) but rather the idiotic things that come from her mouth.

Still though, it’s an extended offseason and there is literally nothing football related worthy of any type of discussion.

I say take a deep breath, look the other way, allow mayhem to ensue, and then put the clamps on when football is actually a thing again.

There is no law that requires they be released. Sure it might be common but that doesn’t make it a requirement.
Under a 1924 federal tax law, § 6103 of title 26 of the United States Code, Congress may request copies of anyone's tax returns. The treasury secretary is legally obliged to provide the tax returns, and there is no apparent legal mechanism to deny Congress's request.

The house officially requested his IRS returns (no reason needs to be furnished), and Mnuchin refused - with no legal basis to stand on. It's now in court, but the above law is clear.

It's not like 95 is actually making arguments let alone equipping them with demonstrably true premises. It's just opinions being bandied about sans demonstration.
Ummm what exactly in this recent string of post here is my “opinion” rather than fact?

It is a fact that it isnt a requirement under law for any President to release their personal tax returns to the public.

KC is up in arms that Trump is hiding something. I simply pointed out the government actually has the info. If something is wrong it’s up to them to pursue it.

Hillary was brought up because there is legal grounds under FOIA that records be kept of her official state correspondence. She destroyed it.

So on one hand we have a citizen upset for not being able to see something he has no legal right to see (even though the gov possesses the info) all the while not giving a shit he can’t see something he legally has a right to see due to it being illegally destroyed. And which the gov doesn’t have the info. So now nobody can ever know.

What part of that is opinion?
Facts are not arguments. An argument has at least three propositions: a major and minor premise and a conclusion. That's what I meant.

Fair enough.

But then, a fact should not be written off as an “opinion” if it is actually a factual statement.

The comments I made here to which you joined the discussion on were matters of fact. So it wasn’t fair to suggest I was stating my opinion.

Sure looked like you were using facts to imply things. Without proving argument for the implication. Why I mentioned enthymemes. And I do not know that everything you mentioned is an obvious fact. Nor do I care enough to check.

1. The US was never a part of the Paris accords. I know. And as I said, it's not like it would make much of a difference anyway, but it is revealing that most of the rest of the world recognizes climate change, but people are still arguing about it in the USA, and industry continues to lobby for unregulated industry, and current admin opened up natural parks to allow industry to take what it pleases. BTW, who has more superfund sites on this planet other than the USA and China? India maybe? The EPA's website even changed it's verbiage to include "Perception should be considered as much as science." Does that happen in Denmark or the EU?

2. We're actually reducing our Carbon footprint at a faster rate than the EU, so this point is bunk anyway. Ok. Let me offer the following :
https://www.weforum.org/agenda/2019/01/ ... ootprints/

Look at the first chart. The USA leads the entire planet in carbon emissions, yet comprises only 5% of the population. Where is Demark on that list?

Denmark – Industrial pollution profile 2019
https://www.eea.europa.eu/themes/indust ... 19/denmark

Also :

Germany recycles more than any other country
https://www.weforum.org/agenda/2017/12/ ... r-country/
Denmark ranks 13th. The USA is 25th. And. . .

https://www.greentechmedia.com/articles ... -to-europe

The US puts 69% of waste into landfills. The Netherlands? Zero. The EU in general? 38%

3. Household debt is significantly higher in Denmark (and most other countries in Europe). So that point is also bunk. Surprising you would make a judgement based on one, count 'em, one data point. Here are some other views.

http://www.nationalbanken.dk/en/publica ... -debt.aspx
Standing at 280 per cent of net disposable incomes, no other OECD has more indebted households than Denmark. However, that is only one side of the equation, as high debt levels are balanced by large assets.

In fact, Danish households’ financial assets alone are more than twice the size of their financial liabilities.
Also :

http://www.nationalbanken.dk/en/publica ... -debt.aspx
In line with the trend in most of Denmark's neighbouring countries and other advanced economies, the value of the assets held by Danish households – their homes, equities, pension savings, bank deposits, etc. – has risen by more than their debt over the last 15-20 years. The difference between the value of household assets and debt is known as net wealth. In an international comparison, Danish households' net wealth relative to disposable income is at an average level. But Danish households differ from those in other countries in that they have very large balance sheets, i.e. large wealth as well as large debt. Particularly the high level of household debt has attracted considerable attention, nationally and internationally.
Ah, and what about the poverty level?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_c ... in_poverty

How about standard of living?

https://worldpopulationreview.com/count ... y-country/

Guess who's at the top of that list. That's right, Denmark. USA is 13th, and not even in the top ten for modern, first world countries. Oh, and if you forgot, demark has universal healthcare, so saving for a $8,000 hospital bill isn't necessary

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Healthcare_in_Denmark

What about public debt?
https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/ ... bt_gdp.png

4. Restrictions on tech have nothing to do with environmental issues and are centered around data management, infrastructure, and other things. There was also massive division in the EU around this - France was unanimously supportive, while Poland and Sweden (who don't get along) both opposed. Well, they do actually. Apple is contesting a EU requirement to standardize chargers in order to reduce electronic waste.

https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/201 ... -recycling
https://www.generalkinematics.com/blog/ ... to-others/

I know the USA just ships its shit to other countries. As does the EU, but consumption for each country pales in comparison to the US. However, suggesting the EU has loose controls over industry and markets just doesn't add up. "Free" in free markets needs context. How about the following?

The European Union and Canada have banned BPA use in baby bottles. The U.S. FDA states "BPA is safe at the current levels occurring in foods" based on extensive research, including two more studies issued by the agency in early 2014.https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Health_ef ... isphenol_A

5. You brought up the socialism/capitalism dichotomy in this thread, not me. And no, i will not judge it without comparing it to something else. I've already pointed out that you were the one to counter criticism of how the US handles capitalism with "socialism isn't any better." Also, whatever form of "socialism" occurring in the rest of the world isn't really socialism. Maybe in N Korea. And if you want libertarianism, isn't Somalia a good choice? :D

Edit: To clarify #1, the agreement was never binding as it was not ratified by the Senate.Yes. Rejected by a republican controlled senate that consistently denies climate change or carbon emission buildup in the atmosphere. In 2017 when it was ratified by other countries in 2016.
We don't agree on much outside of football (where we oddly seem to agree on alot), but I always feel like it's respectful and comes from a good place, even if it sometimes gets heated.
No dispute there, and I agree. I don't mind engaging with you because it's always civil and with respect. But I think we agree on hockey stuff as well. 8-)
Arguing with idiots is like playing chess with a pigeon. No matter how good you are, the pigeon is going to shit on the board and strut around like it won anyway.

TBH, i'm not in the mood to continue this discussion (sorry), but i do want to address this one - I love it when a failed Communist state is used as an argument against libertarianism :D

These rich owners get their stadiums financed by the public. If they don't get their billion dollar handout from the state and local governments in the form of a new stadium, they will move the team.
Maybe I’m not up to speed on these stadium deals but but can we really call it a “handout”?

Aren’t these deals voted on? Doesn’t the community get to vote yay/nay on the sales tax increase to fund the stadium?
No. There are tons of situations where the local government (typically County Commissioners) set the parameters and negotiate the deal.

Check out the Atlanta Braves baseball stadium- no referendum, it was just agreed upon in backroom deals
I'm in a midwest town of about 350,000 people. About 15 years ago the Co commissioners made agreements with the owner of the minor league baseball and hockey team. Thankfully this owner didn't completely screw over the taxpayers and seems to be generous in terms of charity. But my fear is when those stadiums and arenas become outdated then he really has some leverage. People would seriously freak out if these teams leave this town. No different than a drug dealer where you "get the first one for free"
