She broke ground on some real social issues through humor back in her day, stuff nobody else had the balls to say publicly. Anybody that only knew her as the mis-shapen pitch lady of her later years should check the stuff from her youth on youtube. I know I was surprised when I saw all that old stuff. I had been totally unaware of that aspect of her career.

Yup. The early stand up is gut busting. Sort of like the George Carlin of Women's Lib. Forgive the irony of saying she was the insert guy here of women's lib. I just mean he's a comparison. Amazing that her early stuff holds up so well.
