He wanted to rush the play and coaches substituted.
Because tomlin/fichtner are fucking retards.
how stupid of them to call a play that easily
scored a lead taking TD.
You're on the right side of history, Mick!

Coming off bye, extra time to prepare.
What exactly are they doing offensively that the extra week helped with?

They are handing our front 7 its ass.

Going right at them. There is no trickeration involved whatsoever.

...and the Ravens are missing possibly the best o-lineman in the league and another starter.
And, again, why ignore who the Steelers are missing? Not even considering Bush is out... Alualu has been an All-Pro DL to this point.
Alualu is a careeer back up.

Ronnie Stanley is possibly the best offensive lineman in the NFL.

I'm happy Alualu has been playing well, but I don't put them in the same class.

...and Spillane is a better player than Bush.

Didn't look easy down 10 after getting mauled the whole first half.
I honestly never thought we were going to lose that game.
I hadn't given up hope, but it was looking grim to me.
When we didn’t score to start the half...but then Highsmith set us up with his pick to overcome that, I began to believe.

Spillane is a much faster version of VWill. That's who he replaces next year. I dare say, Spillane HAS upgraded Bush, ever so slighlty.

I don't think they give up on Bush yet. They just have too much invested in him.

Being that Spillane is MUCH more of a thumper than Bush, VW might start getting worried.

Actually Spillane has upgraded Bush immensely.
Spillane is the poster boy for why giving to much credit to 40 times is foolish. The kids ability to react is off the charts. He plays so much faster than Mister Three Draft Pick False Step...

Announcement before the flight home

Spillane, Highsmith and Buggs, please come to podium and get your First Class boarding passes :D

Seriously, Buggs had some issues in the first half but played well after the break and his stop on 4th down was hUGE!!
He is supposed to be a DE and Wormley just got put on IR so Buggs probably had a handful of snaps at NG last week. Once he got into rhythm he was serviceable. Then he made a huge play when it was needed. He may have needed some good things to happen before he gained the confidence he needed. I remember people bitching and moaning about a wasted draft pick when Dunbar got him here.

Absolutely. I have no idea what Kodiak meant by "ever so slightly".

Spillane is a play making machine. Bush? He rarely made any plays.

That's why when Bush was injured, I said that while it'll be a blow losing a starter, Bush was never going to be a Shazier type playmaker.

Spillane just might be. He's been AMAZING.

Of course there were a lot of heroics on both sides of the ball. Not surprising and frankly expected. But to me the standout performance of Steeler depth showed big today. Buggs --Hightower-- Ray-Ray-- Spillane and probably some others.

Not much talk about Depth lately. In years past it was considered the difference maker.

Is this when the national media says but Pittsburgh still has not played anyone? I hope we keep not playing anyone and win all the games this season 19-0 would be a perfect cap to a crap 2020.
Bengals rolled Titans. Don't know what to say.

Steelers are fucking rolling, though.
The win percentage of teams the week after they play Pittsburgh (in years where the Steelers D is good) is surprisingly low. I remember seeing a stat a couple of years ago that was wild. I picked the Bengals this week in my bets.

What a drive. Credit to Rustbelt. THAT is an adjustment.

Ben’s arm is FINE. That throw to Juju was a goddamn rocket.
That works. Good job, Orange!
I’m really curious if it was Canada after all that made those adjustments. That 2nd half response did not look very Rustbelt-like.

Harbaugh is whining on Baltimore TV that the last play should have been DPI or shoulder to helmet. Douche.
I don't think the WR should have been flagged for hitting Fitzpatrick in the helmet but I'm glad Harbaugh knows Fitzpatrick got his hands on the ball and the WR was playing defense.

Two observations.

Steelers have not allowed a fourth down conversion against all season long so far. Wow!

Man, Lamar Jackson fumbles the ball...a LOT. Kinda surprised more teams don’t try and take advantage of that.

Is it me or is Ben putting a lot more air under the deep ball.
I recall hearing that Ben was intentionally putting air under it (a la Russ Wilson and Rodgers) to give his guys a chance to adjust and make a play on the ball.
Geez you dragged this one up from a few hours ago.

Spillane 11 tackles. 2 pass defended. 2 tackle for loss, pick 6.
Spillane was a scrap heap UDFA we got off the Tennessee PS. I thought he was a good depth find, but would have never seen this kind of game coming.
Nose for the ball...
Also, inches away from another recovery, the Lamar fumble that was rolling out of bounds

Ben has played like a rookie today a few times, in big situations.

The offense basically reflects its QB and our QB looks scared today.

Scared.

How many points did we score in the second half of the Titans game?
21? No sorry, that was the 2nd half TODAY vs. the #3 Defense in the NFL.
Yeah, like I said earlier in the game that you quoted "I hope he wakes up". Dude was TERRIBLE in the first half.

That isn't slam, it was the truth.

He woke up. At the right time. Likely because we FINALLY busted out the 5 wide, which he LOVES.

Why we wait to do that, is beyond me.
Dude. You've watched this dude for 16 years... when are you going to stop doubting him?

It wasn't just about Ben.

We've all seen him wake up after a bad start but we looked overwhelmed.

We were bad in all phases in the first half.

The defense saved us and got us going. Thank God for Highsmith.

He was the spark the Steelers HAD to have.

I'll still never understand why Tomlin and Fitchner wait until our backs are completely against the wall before they act.

Before they put Ben where he's most comfortable.
