How can they push the playoffs back a week. So then next week when Cleveland is healthy and the Steelers or Buccaneers or Redskins or whoever have an outbreak it's to bad just play. Should of did a bubble for the playoffs, to late now.

Oh so now were able to identify when and where Covid was contracted?

I find it hard to believe you can prove where it was contracted in any given situation.

A bunch of dudes squirming around on the ground in a pile breathing and spitting on each other doesn’t transmit Covid but sitting in a restaurant does. Even one outside.

Didn’t you know that?
I have not read that eating outside poses a substantial risk, but if it does pose a risk, it's pretty obvious why it would pose a higher risk than playing football.

same with Stefanski as he is the primary play caller
To me, all this does is even things back out given we play each weak without a competent play caller.

Taking it further, maybe the substitute HC the Browns field will be as mentally challenged as our HC when it comes to the high level calculus involved in determining when to call a time out.
He’s way more mentally challenged—he once suggested all the gays should be rounded up to an island and nuked.

For whatever this is worth:
Tom Pelissero
@TomPelissero

The NFL's medical experts believe last week's #Browns COVID cases were all from community spread, not a facility outbreak. Genomic sequencing showed three different strains of virus, I'm told. No positive tests Sunday or Monday. But now, 5 positives today and facility is closed.

The bubble would not have solved this for this week or next week. It would have been 14-21 days after everyone entered an effective bubble.

One more thing:

https://www.wkyc.com/article/sports/nfl ... 05c37816e4
After punching their ticket to the postseason with a 24-22 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday, the Cleveland Browns' celebration carried over into the locker room.

Once there, multiple Browns players appeared to poke fun at Steelers wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster by performing the same TikTok dance that Smith-Schuster and several Pittsburgh players made headlines for following their win over the Indianapolis Colts last week.

That dance is the same one that Smith-Schuster and several Steelers players controversially performed after clinching the AFC North division title with a win over the Colts a week ago. Because multiple players in the video weren't wearing masks, many speculated that the team could be fined for not following the league's coronavirus (COVID-19) protocols, although no such action was ever made public.

Hmmm. Irony.

I believe the NFL is tracing the ... you could call it a fingerprint... of the covid a particular player has. So in this instance, they noted 3 separate types, confirming that the 3 people who tested positive got each got it somewhere different.

I think they are doing this to determine if there is in-game transmission. So if a Steeler d-lineman tests positive and that matches the Browns o-lineman, they would have a pretty good idea transmission happened during a game.

The NFL and media might want the Browns in the playoffs, but apparently the Almighty feels differently. At least He didn't use locusts.

Yes.. a season long bubble was never going to fly. But I’m sure the league and players association could have worked out something shorter term to protect the playoffs.

My fear would be a new play caller for the Browns completely befuddling the Steelers. Sort of like when we knock a QB out of the game ams his back up beats us.

You mean like a fairly legendary Pitt QB coming back into his old stomping grounds and effectively being the OC and making for a great storyline if they were to win?

I am glad this Covid is no worse than the flu seasons of yore!

I remember back in my day the hospitals and ICUs would always fill to capacity 10 times a year with twice as many patients each time during the flu waves! We didn’t use no stinkin PPE either!

We never told EMS to divert patients from the emergency room either back in my day, we always took everybody in the Johnstown area during flu seasons, and we liked it!

And we played outside with no video games to keep us busy during the quarantines and lockdowns!

The flus walked to the patients in 6 feet of snow uphill both ways to infect us!

You'd think.

The Professor Half Wit moniker is in deference to Swiss who would call me that when I posted dumb things. The old name was Still Lit!

Browns placed OL Nick Harris on injured reserve with a knee injury.

A fifth-round rookie, Harris' loss wouldn't normally be a huge deal, but he spent Weeks 15 and 16 filling in for RG Wyatt Teller. Now, the Browns will be without LG Joel Bitonio (COVID-19) for the Wild Card Round. Harris' loss leaves them without an obvious back-up plan. Harris could only return for a theoretical Super Bowl appearance.

Apparently Michael Dunn will be getting the start (according to a few Browns' boards. Could be bad intel).

He's been a camp body for the Rams, Dolphins, and Jaguars prior to joining the Browns' practice squad this season. He has never taken a snap in the NFL.

Again...thus far, there have been zero confirmed cases of transmission during a game.

That doesn’t mean it didn’t happen or couldn’t happen...but it hasn’t been detected happening yet.
Was that global? I thought somebody here said that.
No sport in any league in any country is there a case of transmission from team to team during a contest.

Alex Van Pelt taking over play calling duties for the game. Not sure if we have a feel for his tempo or style of game plan. Could be a wrinkle that helps the Browns until Baker fucks it up.

In DC the spread from bars is 1.4% of cases plus when you enter a bar you jot down a phone # and there is a viable way to contact trace. Now that they are banning indoor dining and drinking again it is just causing people to have private gatherings with not way of knowing who was or was not there. Cases will rise again here soon.

true, stefanski has a reputation as one of the better play callers in the league so have to believe this hurts them.
