Marcus Peters to the Ravens for a 5th round pick
Wow....Pro Bowler CB Peters to the Ravens. Their odds of winning the AFCN just went from ~50% to 75% in my book.
Peters for an undisclosed draft pick. Bet it was a 5th rounder. Maybe a 4th. Harbaugh knows how to make winning moves for sure.
EDIT: Confirmed it was for a 5th round pick. Meanwhile we gave up our 1st rounder for Minkah....
Ravens outsmarted the Steelers again...

Peters isn't half the player people think he is. He's almost as overrated as DeAngelo Hall used to be.
For ever turnover he causes he probably gives up 3-4 senseless TDs. While he's got some physical talent for sure, he's way too undisciplined, especially at this stage of his career.
What's his salary bwt?
Then again, maybe he'll fit right in with the Ravens.
No thanks....I'll pass.
edit...the Ravens also traded away Kenny Young, their 4th round pick last year.

He has more career INTs than anyone on our roster (24) and more defensive TDs (4) than our entire secondary combined.DP39 wrote: ↑Tue Oct 15, 2019 9:00 pmPeters isn't half the player people think he is. He's almost as overrated as DeAngelo Hall used to be.

And he's only 26 years old. He hasn't hit his peak yet.
For a 5th rounder I do that deal in a heartbeat. You would be a fool to say otherwise.

Seems a bit odd with Aqib Talib going on IR.
Wonder what Marcus did to wear out his welcome.

Yeah, but only a total of 5 in the last two years. I've watched him play plenty and my eyes tell me he's giving up way more than he's getting.
Plus, we would've had to trade Jaylen Samuels in that deal to make it equal.
Like I said, no thanks.
I can only assume you've actually watched him play a lot in the last two years. If so, we obviously are seeing things differently.

5 INTS in the last 2 seasons is still better than anyone on our roster. Haden only had 3 INTS in the last 2 seasons. Why would we need to include Samuels? Kenny Young is a nobody. We could have traded Chickillo.DP39 wrote: ↑Tue Oct 15, 2019 9:12 pmYeah, but only a total of 5 in the last two years. I live in LA and see and hear about the Rams a lot. He is not the KC Peters you remember. Haden and Nelson are both better than he is now. Fitzpatrick is way better.
Oh, come on. Let's see how Peters plays compared to Fitz. There has to be a reason it only cost the Ravens a 5th.The Riddle of Steel wrote: ↑Tue Oct 15, 2019 8:52 pmWow....Pro Bowler CB Peters to the Ravens. Their odds of winning the AFCN just went from ~50% to 75% in my book.

Ravens traded for 10 games for Marcus Peters and probably a comp pick in 2021 in return.
The Steelers traded for FOUR YEARS of Minkah Fitzpatrick. Who has been awesome for us. And we moved up from
The fifth to the fourth round with a pick next year to boot.
Apples to oranges.

Oh, you mean we SHOULDN'T be using this trade to bash the Steelers for being stupid then? Thanks for clearing that up. Maybe Riddle can think of something happier to post about sometime.tbsteel wrote: ↑Tue Oct 15, 2019 9:54 pmRavens traded for 10 games for Marcus Peters and probably a comp pick in 2021 in return.

Peters will be traded again because Baltimore won’t be dumb enough to pay him top dollar.
Minkah, on the other hand will be our free safety for the next decade.

Rams picked up Ramsey so that's probably why Peters got shipped out.

Jalen Ramsey to the Rams.
Figured there must be something up with the trade of Marcus and Talib on IR.

Peters is a hothead. I think the Rams dumped his ass because they knew he couldnt coexist with Ramsey. Plus there is a salary dump happening Im sure.
Peters is overrated IMO.
Everyone thought Weddle would take the Ravens to the promised land....the last missing piece bla bla bla...
Guess we shall see.....
And his impact will be minimal in our rematch as we only throw 5 yd passes anyway

Peters is in the option year of his rookie contract. Do you think the Steelers would pay him 10-12million per year in 2020. Fitzpatrick is on a rookie contract for 2.8 season plus an option year is a good deal.

Peters wasn't considered a top FA when he went to the Rams. I suspect Peters will continue to be reliable but not game changing in rat purple.
For the record comparing Fitz with Peters is just lazy. The only comparable thing I see even remotely related is these two players were traded to two teams in the same division. The End/

He was never a free agent. Peter's is still on his rookie contact. But yeah, I don't think he's a game changer anymore. His best year was his rookie year, when he looked like he'd be the next great corner, but he's regressed every year since. For this season I'm not sure I'd take him over either of our starters and forget about trying to negotiate a new contract with him. That being said the Rats will likely get a 3rd or 4th back if they choose to not resign him, because someone will give this clown a big check.Steelafan77 wrote: ↑Wed Oct 16, 2019 1:17 amPeters wasn't considered a top FA when he went to the Rams. and a second rounder for Ramsey.
Plus he gets paid large next year.
We got a a great deal with Fitzpatrick.
The Rams were paying him $9.1 million on that 5th year option after they got him in trade from KC.
The Ravens now have to pay the remaining $5.8 million of that 5th year option this season and then he is an UFA for 2020.
So, next offseason do they franchise him? Do they pay him as one of the top paid CBs?? The Ravens are going to franchise him at $16-17 million next offseason?? Are they going to make him one of the top paid CBs at $15 million per season, something like 5 years, $75 million?
To me that is not a good deal, I don't care that they only traded a player and a 5th round pick. They gave up peanuts in terms of draft picks but they are going to have to pay him a very large sum of money and I don't think he is worth it.
We spent a 1st rounder on Fitzpatrick but only pay him $5.5 million for the next 3 seasons, 2019-2021, and then we have a 5th year option for him in 2022. We have him locked up for the next 4 years, and this is a guy who was the 11th overall pick in the first round.
If we had not traded for Fitzpatrick and right now we are slotted at the 12th overall pick in the first round, what would we have paid out in terms of money for that first round pick in 2020?? Miami for reference paid $16.5 million to Fitz as the 11th pick in 2018. So, again, what is not to love about the trade?? We lost Fitz's rookie year but we also saved some $11 million and still have the 5th year option. This was a steal on our part. If we could do this EVERY year I would be happy.
Peters is a big play, bad play type and take too many penalties. His style of play does not mature well as you get older. He does fit what the Ravens like to do so I can see them making the move.

The move is an odd one. When I think of holes to fill in Baltimore, CB is not top of mind.
They have bigger problems to address...one of them being that their QB still struggles with the forward pass. We were down to our 4th string QB and still should have beaten them.
Their creampuff schedule is about to change quickly. We can catch those MFers but it may come down to that last game of the year in Baltimore.

For those saying Peters is only a 1 year rental and that he'll walk next year. Keep in mind that if the Ravens lose Peters they get a comp pick...which would likely be a 5th rounder or better. So they would essentially come out even.
Renting a Pro Bowl CB with top 3 ball skills for free....that is always a good move.

In light of how much the Rams gave up for Ramsey, and how well our secondary has been playing....the first rounder for Fitz is starting to sound like a steal.
