First page of fan reactions says it all. Let’s hope Ben isn’t taking into account if the fans want him back:

Ben was absolutely a large component of the problem, this past season.Thrillsseeker wrote: ↑Wed Feb 17, 2021 8:21 pmbradshaw2ben wrote: ↑Wed Feb 17, 2021 7:24 pmFirst page of fan reactions says it all. Let’s hope Ben isn’t taking into account if the fans want him back:

Is there a better option available for 2021?? Probably not.
Should they move on??
It it lets the team evaluate Rudolph and Tomlin, objectively, so they can be prepared for 2022- absofuckinglutely

I think this is multi-faceted. People shouldn't celebrate Ben leaving. He has been the most important Steeler for much of his career. He should be celebrated. The Steelers have to make a business decision, and we don't know what his agent is asking for. If moving on from Ben allows them to keep Bud, I would do that. If it doesn't keep Bud, and Ben is reasonable, I keep Ben.

The reality, whether people choose to accept it or not, is that we're not winning a title with or without Ben next year. The problems this team has won't be solved by whether we extend Ben or not. Might as well save the money, try and acquire some extra picks for the 2022 draft, and then deal with the inevitable tanking that comes with it. Maybe then Rooney will wake up and see that we're bang average because of shit coaching and game-planning.
With respect to Ben himself. He's an absolute legend and first ballot hall of famer. But I flat out can not forget the mental mistakes he made against Cleveland while running an offense tailor made for a local HS varsity team. Maybe I'm oversimplifying things, but the offense we were running last season was pretty God damn basic.
I'm done being nostalgic. If I have to watch the offense I saw last year just so Ben can have his $20M farewell tour I'll gouge my eyes out.

I don't know if those dimwits are rejoicing, but they're really gonna hate what they wish for if it comes to that.

I’m still trying to accept a very talented team was bounced from the playoffs, at home, versus the Browns.
To recap:
Browns had no HC, a reshuffled patchwork Oline, and other players ineligible due to Covid.
Yet
We lost
The blame:
Aviators, Ben, Pouncey and the D
I don’t see us 11-0 anytime soon
Get used to 7-9, 6-10

Further away the loss recedes the more disappointed in the players I get. The Tomlin disappointment remains the same: high.Jizz Mop wrote: ↑Wed Feb 17, 2021 9:12 pmI’m still trying to accept a very talented team was bounced from the playoffs, at home, versus the Browns.

“Being a fan is fine, but there is a line you can cross that makes it really unhealthy,” said Ken Yeager, PhD, a mental health expert in the department of psychiatry at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center.
This is a disingenuous quote from Aditi (not blaming B2B). After saying the above, Colbert stated: "With Ben's current cap number, some adjustment will have to be made."bradshaw2ben wrote: ↑Wed Feb 17, 2021 7:23 pmhttps://twitter.com/akinkhabwala/status ... 03394?s=21

That seems to me to wholly change the tenure of the comment. That sounds more like "we want you back, but not at that cap hit."

Yeah well no kidding
I just think there’s no benefit to sucking more quickly. There’s no evidence you get better faster, especially since their defense will be too good to lose 12 or 13 games, no matter who is QB. They don’t get any comp picks if Ben retires or is cut and they’re not going to get better as a result. Why not keep him for the minimal difference in salary between a vet min kind of cap hit and cutting him? Makes no sense.

Watching Brady last year in New England...did people really think he’d be holding the Lombardi a year later in Tampa? Be honest...I didn’t. I thought Brady made them a bit more competitive in a pretty tough division. That’s all.
Now Brady is drunk on a boat somewhere making room for a 7th ring.
Point is, you are a goddamn idiot if you don’t think keeping Ben gives us our best shot next year. He gives us our best shot until he retires, period. We are in for years of suck. And that’s not even bringing up how bad Mike Tomlin is.
You keep Ben until he’s done. Everything else is just a bunch of Ben-hating waterheads.

The only downside is you don't get to see Rudolph play. I don't think Rudolph is worth anything so not much downside.bradshaw2ben wrote: ↑Wed Feb 17, 2021 9:21 pmYeah well no kidding

Ben played one outstanding half in the last 5 or six games of the season.
One. Outstanding. HALF.
I have news for you....we aren't going to be be 11-0 next season before the bottom drops out.
It's going to happen far sooner.....with or without Ben Roethlisberger.

I still can't believe the offense looked FAR, FAR better just one week earlier, with Bibberty in charge.Jizz Mop wrote: ↑Wed Feb 17, 2021 9:12 pmI’m still trying to accept a very talented team was bounced from the playoffs, at home, versus the Browns.

Basically in every aspect.
I still cannot believe what happened one week after we lost in Cleveland, because we failed on a 2 point play that could have sent the game to overtime.
Holy shit.

He's gonna go through all of that with getting his arm repaired for just one year?
Not happening. He will be back. Probably for two more years.

Well.....Ben better start talking about a DISCOUNT DOUBLE CHECK because the Steelers aren't paying top dollar for what they witnessed from him in 2020.rooneytunes wrote: ↑Wed Feb 17, 2021 9:53 pmHe's gonna go through all of that with getting his arm repaired for just one year?

Just isn't going to happen and from what I take from Colbert's statement....Ben doesn't want seem to want to play at a steep discount.
If Ben doesn't want to play for pennies on the dollar, then he needs to finish his career elsewhere.
Starting in 2021 if at all possible.

I think the fact that we are seeing statements like these from management tells us that Ben isn’t thinking anywhere near the vet min.
I don't think B2B is saying vet min. He is saying if you cut Ben, there is still a cap hit. So that cap hit plus the vet min seems like more value.meanjustinbarlow wrote: ↑Wed Feb 17, 2021 10:37 pmHow low do you really think Ben will go?bradshaw2ben wrote: ↑Wed Feb 17, 2021 9:21 pmYeah well no kidding

I second this.
As I age I find myself hating most ppl.
Were you hating Steeler fans when Cleveland was handing the team ANOTHER, regularly scheduled home playoff ass beating while Ben and company were in turning it over as often as they possibly could and the defense couldn’t stop shit?
But sure, I’m sure if Ben comes back we’re gonna win it all as a big going away present for good ol’ #7.

Nothing personal, but many of you are fucking masochists and don’t realize it.
You’ve been defeated in your elder age.
