Ryan Tollner: They want Ben back and will contact me soon to address his cap situation. As we've shared since the season ended, we are happy to creatively adjust his contract to help them build the best team possible. A year ago, Ben wasn't sure if he could throw again, but he battled back to get 12 wins and the 8th division title of his career. They lost steam down the stretch and that doesn't sit well with for him, so the fire burns strong and theres plenty of gas left in the tank.Aditi Kinkhabwala

Ben Roethlisberger will indeed be back as the #Steelers starting QB this fall. Just connected w/ the two-time Super Bowl winner’s agent, Ryan Tollner, who said this:
Love it! Lets fucking Go!!

KC hardest hit.
Joking aside this is great news.
With the right restructure, I think we’d be in the clear from a cap perspective.
A little other restructuring and you have some space for FAs plus Watt.

A Tuesday afternoon report from Gerry Dulac of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette indicated that the plan the Steelers have for Roethlisberger’s contract includes a two-year extension with all but $1.075 million of the $19 million he’s currently owed in 2021 being turned into a signing bonus and prorated over the three contract years.
Dude...we aren't winning shit with either Roethlisberger, Rudolph, Haskins, etc.
You may not believe that now....but you'll come to understand reality once the season starts.
This just delays the inevitable by one year, although Ben definitely deserves his farewell tour.

Gonna need to be one helluva of a draft and a FA dumpster dive gem discovery to make this motor hum in 2021/22.

Could be his agent just trying to get in front of things.Go public and say Steelers already say they want 7 back, then if they low ball Ben and he doesn’t except Steelers look bad.
Very good Oline draftProfessor Half Wit wrote: ↑Wed Feb 24, 2021 1:08 amGonna need to be one helluva of a draft and a FA dumpster dive gem discovery to make this motor hum in 2021/22.

Anyone know what’s been discussed for Ben’s cap charge for 21?

Hopefully they find a way to shave, in the neighborhood of 14 million or more, off his cap this year without kicking too much down the road.
So glad all the negative pundits didn't change this outcome. Best thing, this season, for the team, organization and Bens legacy.
However, they can't let Ben coming back, inhibit their process, IN ANY WAY, to finding the heir apparent. Whatever, that process is, EYE ON THE PRIZE, Nose to the grindstone. Trade the #1 if they feel THE guy is there. Do what they have too.

Best News for the Steelers and Ben the window is still open.
Start with playing Dotson. Hope that DD recovers after Ab injury. Probably have to bring back AV at a reasonable number. Draft pick at RT. Chucks swing tackle. FA at center.
Not a great line but passable (especially if Dotson is as good as I think he is).
Get Dotson in the lineup and draft 1 difference maker who can start day 1 at OL. That should give Canada and Ben something to work with.
Throw. The. Football. On. First. Down.

This team just delayed progress by a year. They will not be a playoff team, but they will do just enough to pick in the mid to late teens.
I'm still saying we saw two teams last year. There was a very good team for the first 9 weeks, and the team that fell on its face the last 7 or so weeks. The end result was 12-4, and I think immediately predicting a non-playoff season is a little bit premature, but that's just me. We haven't even seen the off-season yet.
Nothing left to do but smile, smile, smile...
Riiiiiiiiiight..........

Until the HC is gone, Ben is the best hope for progress this team has. I'll take that bet––I suspect they'll be about as good as last year, meaning they'll be a playoff team.Charles Demarr wrote: ↑Wed Feb 24, 2021 12:18 pmI'm in this camp. It’s been a decade’s worth of evidence to show that Ben cannot carry this team to a Super Bowl.bradshaw2ben wrote: ↑Wed Feb 24, 2021 2:44 pmUntil the HC is gone, Ben is the best hope for progress this team has. But the dreamers gotta keep dreaming, I guess.
Like I said, I’d be happier if I thought Ben staying meant we were closer to a championship.
We’re not so all I can hope for is he ends his career looking better than he did the last several weeks of 2020.
And that he doesn’t go out the way Brett Favre or Dan Marino did.
