Through the Smoke

Post by smithessmokin » Thu Oct 09, 2014 5:36 am

People say this team is in shambles. People blame Tomlin, LeBeau, Haley, etc. etc. I just think people are blowing smoke. This team is capable of being a very good team. As fans, it's easy to get caught up in all of the smoke that the team is surrounded by right now. Hence, here's an mock that takes a look through the smoke.

Parameters:
1. Steelers earn a 4th round compensation pick for Emmanuel Sanders.
2. Steelers resign the following free agents: TE Matt Spaeth, CB Brice McCain, LS Greg Warren, LB Arthur Moats, and TE Michael Palmer.
3. Steelers tender the following free agents: SAF Robert Golden, FB Will Johnson, LB Terrence Garvin, P Brad Wing, OG Chris Hubbard, and WR Justin Brown.
4. Steelers select 17th.

Selections:
1. LT Spencer Drango, Baylor
2. CB Trae Waynes, Michigan State
3. WR Antwan Goodley, Baylor
4. OLB Nate Orchard, Utah
4c. TE Ben Koyack, Notre Dame
5. SAF Jacquiski Tartt, Samford
6. WR Vince Mayle, Washington State
7. CB Julian Wilson,Oklahoma

Selections:
1. LT Spencer Drango, Baylor Good run blocking LT. Had back surgery already though.
2. CB Trae Waynes, Michigan State like it. 6'+ CB with some good ball skills.
3. WR Antwan Goodley, Baylor Big kid listed at 5'11 220.
4. OLB Nate Orchard, Utah Fits the Steeler profile for OLB.
4c. TE Ben Koyack, Notre Dame see the above comment except for TE.
5. SAF Jacquiski Tartt, Samford
6. WR Vince Mayle, Washington State
7. CB Julian Wilson,Oklahoma

Like it smith. Thanks for the time and efforts. Still holding out hope for Adams to be honest. If anyone can salvage Adams Its Munchak. I believe the Steelers also are holding out hope for this as well. I can see TE being the 1st RND'er next draft. Or TE, CB, OLB first 2 days then BPA the rest of the draft.

I really believe that no TE will be taken before the 2nd round and perhaps the 3rd. It is a very bad year to need a TE.

Is Funchess a TE or WR? He's going round 1.

Hybrid?!?
He was a TE last year, WR this season. And he has no QB.

I think we likely need to roll with Heath for one more year. I don't see a good all around type TE that the Steelers will like.

Love the Waynes pick. Not sold on Drango in the first, but there's a lot of time to flush out the OTs yet. OT used to be a fairly safe pick, but it's getting harder and harder to project.

He goes as a big WR late in the 1st. I do not think he even tries to block.

That would surprise the crap out of me.
