Have the Steelers interview any one else

Post by steelmann58 » Fri Feb 04, 2022 4:32 am

For the DC Job seems like everything is quite and they still have not Named Austin I find this interesting that maybe their be a dark horse. Also now that we are without an Ol coach and there Two big names out there the Steelers seem quite there too where they should be busy setting up interviews with both

They're all at the Senior Bowl this week. My guess, we'll start to hear some news next week.
In their current state, I hate everything about this organization.

Like game planning, interviews are a waste of time.

Besides, gotta let the good candidates get swept up so Jibbs can remain the defacto DC.

We interviewed the following candidates for our General Manager position this week:

• Ryan Cowden (Tennessee Titans)

I read online they also interviewed the Hamburgler and Ernest P. Worrell.

I actually think this is a more important position than HC. A guy like Tomlin, even with all his warts, can be successful if the GM knows how to get the guys he can work with. And mediocre HC's like Tomlin aren't that hard to find, frankly.

Giants requested permission to interview Steelers’ Sr. defensive asst/secondary coach Teryl Austin for their defensive coordinator job, per source. It’s uncertain whether permission will be granted because Austin is a favorite to become the Steelers’ next defensive coordinator.

If you haven’t figured out by now most of my post are part factual, part sarcasm, and part humor I dunno what to tell you.

To answer your question, no, I don’t think that is their intent or motivation.

At the same time, the powers that be are comfy with Jibbs being the HC and defacto DC. So I do t think they are gonna look real hard.

Soooo lemme ask you, do you think their motivation and intent is to go out and get a premier guy to run the defense?

If your answer isn’t yes, how can you really be critical of my post since we are most likely going to get some sort of “yes man” vs a true DC that is given the autonomy to act alone.

So are they not movin slow knowing Jibbs is really gonna be the DC anyways?

The #Steelers are scheduled to interview ESPN commentator Louis Riddick for their vacant GM job, per @rapsheet
Howard Griffith had to resort to chop-blocking him during the 1997 AFC Championship Game. An incredulous Kirkland asked Griffith, “Why do you have to use cheap tactics like chop-blocking?” Griffith replied “Why do you have to be a 300-pound linebacker?”

former Eagles Director of Pro Personnel so not just a talking head. If they hire him, ESPN gets a 3rd round comp.

I heard that Dobbs ( Colts) has turned down other interviews because he really wants the Steeler job.

The Steelers love their connections. He's from PA, went to Pitt and is Tim Lewis' (spent 10 yrs as a PS coach) cousin.

That's interesting. I thought no one wanted to work for Rooney or Tomlin.

The argument has been no legitimate coordinator will want to work under Tomlin.

Can you argue otherwise at this point? Our coordinator pics have gotten less and less impressive.

In fact, our last two OCs now have been rookie coordinators in terms of NFL experience.

And GM isn’t really “working for” Tomlin either. So what was really your point?

Man, I wish I loved Jibbs as much as the Jibbaroo Crew still does.

That false sense that ole Mike has got dis sure would make being a fan of this team a hell of a lot easier.

Hey, he can run his mouth on TV. Hire him! Matt Millen and Mike Mayock were great!!!

Another guy with a line of bullshit packaged and prepped to battle Coach Top Three for the most lugubrious motormouth that can spin words into nothingness. Old drunk Rooneys love those guys.
"I'm institutionalized, man," he joked. "I gotta have it. I just love the challenges week in and week out that this job provides: the growth in it, the collective growth, the individual growth."

His bar has been set at occasionally making the playoffs and not having losing seasons.

So boxes have been checked.

Next step is to trip over themselves racing to the podium to over draft one of Jibbs BBQ buddies nephews.

It occurrs to me that Tomlin probably approaches coaching hires like he does game planning and preparation. I'd guess his search process isn't the most exhaustive...

Steelers requested permission to interview Colts’ college scouting director Morocco Brown for their general manager job, per league sources.

Seems a bit odd given they already interviewed that guy's boss.
