You can't really bench a person that plays on all the special teams except FG and FG block. Shoot half the people talk about how little talent the team has and then we get people calling to fire a guy for a supremely stupid personal foul.

Marcus Allen is a great symbol for Tomlin's worst trait....COMPLACENCY. He has no sense of urgency in trying to upgrade his talent, his coaches, or his scheme (or himself and his game mgmt for that matter). Marcus Allen could be replaced later today by any number of practice squad players around the NFL and it would be a big special teams upgrade. But, we won't do it.
