I admit that I don’t know shit. But the idea that Gonzalez (Oregon CB) isn’t dog enough because he is polite in interviews is stupid. His was obviously great on the field and his tackling and coverage were top notch. I hate seeing players I like going to the Pats.

This has nothing to do with Jones who is probably a fine T. Hope he can live up to being a first rounder.

Instead of taking the best CB in the draft (Gonzalez) we get a nepotism pick with a guy who can't pick off passes.

So we didn't take your favorite pick in the draft "Gonzalez" so now no matter what we do it is going to suck?

Gonzalez is not the best CB. You’re on something. Has as much bust potential as JPJ and was picked way earlier. No thanks.

Much rather have Jones and JPJ. No brainer. Kahn hitting it out of the park so far.

Mike Martz breaking film down. Makes some good points.

I’m happy with the Porter pick. Will Porter be a better CB than Gonzalez? I have no idea, I just wanted a corner and we got one.

I watched the Mike Martz video. Technique was definitely very inconsistent and sloppy at times from Broderick. I don't know what that lean in and head butt thing is that he does at times.

But, what you also see from the video is tenacity and sick athleticism to make up for the technique flaws. He won't be able to get away with that at the NFL level though.

He's young and will have to clean up his technique and put the work in to match his freakish athleticism.

I've noticed it as well. My thought is that it's his way of coiling up to "explode" into the defender and push him off up top to control him -- if that makes sense.

That dude looked like he wanted no part of being drafted by the Steelers. He took the hat off right away and had a shitty look on his face. Not good.
Watch the presser. Seems like a great kid, with a good head on his shoulders. Sounds like we got a winner!

And he picked #77 to honor his teammate.

And he said “iron sharpens iron”! I am guessing he will be bought in with the PS.

Gonzalez might end up being better than Porter but JPJ has a lot more invested in being great in Pittsburgh than Gonzalez does.

This is one time the nepotism doesn't bother me. JPJ's dad played an extremely physical game and was a team leader. Literally gave his heart and soul (oh yeah, and his ass when he got shot) for the Steelers.

JPJ has that to live up to so you 100% FUCKING KNOW he's going to kill himself to succeed and maybe even surpass his dad's greatness. Dude is going to work his ass off and probably already is. Dad will make sure of it.

Broderick Jones said he will wear No. 77 with Steelers to honor his Georgia teammate Devin Willock who was killed in a car accident.
This is the good shit I want to hear. He is still thinking of his lost brother and wants to honor him. Sounds like a quality human being.
Yup.
That's some good vibes about his character.

If Big Al worked in the NFL, Jones will too. Jones’ lower body is huge. Probably needs to put some pounds on his arms, but his base and legs are monstrous, and his speed should translate very well. Can’t imagine him not starting and being successful.

The problem with talent first guys is that their technique sucks because they never had to use it. Hopefully he gets his lunch money taken by Highsmith and Watt to learn that he needs it.

Add in a little Heyward throwing him backwards on a loop or a stunt. He will quickly learn that technique helps a lot. I also liked in his presser when he said that as a freshman he had to line up against 5 guys that all got drafted in the first round and got his ass handed to him immediately and that he understood what a battle it was going to be. The guy has less than 30 starts but 2 of them were National Titles so he has that going for him.

After sitting back and thinking about it, JPJ is a very good pick considering the way our D is run. Hopefully his hands get better and he starts picking off more balls coming his way. Can't get mad with a CB who can and will smack players and is not afraid to put his nose in there.

Once you get past the nepotism (and in my case, the deeply ingrained anti-PSU bias) and the handsiness, Porter, Jr. is a pretty darn good pick for the PS, and I had a lot less problem at 32 than I would have had at 17. Or 14. As someone mentioned, this draft had a peaceful, easy feeling to it.

Broderick Jones’ demeanor says one thing to me.

I’m here to put you on your ass

Not saying, he’s not friendly dude or anything just seems like he’s all business

Hopefully business oriented. We will see and hear him more over the next few months. He has to be tired as well, I would think he had a whirlwind 72 hours. I saw him just giving interviews all over. He told Cam it has been a wild day on his draft party podcast. Pickett and Jones on the couch talking to Heyward for like 15 or 20 mins and then he is off to another media event. Kid is from a town with like 3000 people I can't imagine the piece-meal travel schedule that has gone down since early Friday am. The whole time thinking about how much your life just changed forever.

I really hope this team fully commits to a 2 TE offense

- It’s a contrarian move I don’t think most of the league is set up to defend well

- It plays to what the Steelers agenda is; a run centered ball control offense

- I think it suits Kenny better as a passer

- TEs are notably cheaper than WRs

I think the 2 TE makes sense NOW due to personnel. But the key to success in the NFL is to constantly evolve and play to your teams' strengths instead of pigeonholing them into a philosophy.

I would like to see them run 12 personnel as a base so they can run or pass out of the same set. Much like NE when they had Gronk and Hernadez.

Dude is an evil genus who holds a grudge. But if this is his thinking, it’s classic long-game strategic thinking. He plays the Jets twice a year. He’s going to have to deal with Aaron Rogers, who (even diminished) is pretty dangerous. So, by simply trading back three spots, he still gets his guy, and he leaves Rogers without blindside protection. Evil. Genius. Again.

I hate him.

No need to kid, it's a common curiosity by most fans.
Bill Parcells used to REQUIRE all his Olinemen wear braces to prevent knee injuries. Unsure how soundly that "science" is nowadays
