Only positive development on the day: As bad as the Steelers look, Cincinnati has somehow been worse
True but they have an elite QB, so there’s hope for them.

Has Pickett had a successful down field throw in this game? I don't remember one.
Not sure theres even been an attempt.
Deep throw OOB that Pickens caught. INT thrown behind Dionte. The INT in triple coverage to Heyward. Not great results.

Expected that. Didn’t expect Pickett to turn into vinny interceptaverde.

I'm much, much more worried about this defense then I am the offense.

Especially the secondary.

SS has been brutal.
This is ridiculous. What has the offense shown in the last two years that tells you they can consistently score points?
It's funny you mention the last 2 years.

Washed Ben Roethlisberger followed by the Mitch and rookie Kenny show.

They have offensive talent now. What ruined my optimism wasn't Kenny's performance. He'll get a lot better.

It was the game plan. You have to attack a team like the 49ers downfield on early downs.

We played ball control.

Which is just fucking unbeleivable.
We didn’t play anything. Utterly moronic to make a judgment based on two plays run in the game.

I still have no idea what Canada’s offense this year is going to look like because the 49er defense took it apart.

Now…I don’t have any faith in Canada, but today we just got beat down.

I agree Kenny was bad today. It wasn't just the inaccuracy...he didn't see the field all that well. But, that is masking the horrific play of the defense as well. Dline and secondary were very very poor.

He might not be the guy.

I don’t believe he is sick out loud bad.
I think his floor is quality back-up. I don't think he's worse than 20 starters in the league, but only about 12 QBs deserve franchise money.

Offenses usually start slower than defenses, and Kenny is playing last year's #1 D in Wk1. He was just off today, which makes evaluating anything else impossible.

Mike Tomlin on Mike Tomlin Show on 49ers & splash plays: “We are going to be aggressive, and appropriately so, moving forward. Understand that they are very good at what they do, and part of being good at what you do defensively is keeping a lid on it. So, we have to proceed with caution, but when you’re pursuing greatness, risk-taking is a part of it. Calculated risk-taking. That’s what you’re talking about when you’re drawing up big plays schematically.” #Steelers #NFL
"I'm institutionalized, man," he joked. "I gotta have it. I just love the challenges week in and week out that this job provides: the growth in it, the collective growth, the individual growth."

I agree. He was not comfortable back there. 49ers had a great pass rush but he was also seeing ghosts.

Sooooo....Going off memory, Kenny got a gold jacket last year for 5 TDs and 0 picks in his last 9 games. Today 1 TD and 2 picks in an overall horrific performance.

If this guy actually becomes a top-20 QB this board might explode.

Are you honestly saying that on clean pocket downs where he had time that he didn’t make some awful throws?

Please tell me you aren’t arguing that.

This game has shown

- the coaching staff and scheme is terrible

- Kenny has a long way to go, and probably isn’t going to be the answer

- Canada shouldn’t be calling plays

A run on second down after a pass must be required in a Canada offense.
That’s not a Canada thing, it’s a Steelers thing…going back to Cowher and Noll. They’ve always done it.

Looking at the o line today not sure I altogether blame him.

I’m scared.

Bc with Ben you could have shit o line play and he’d transcend it.

KP not that good (most aren’t). If the o line is not going to be above average, the season is going to be looooooooooooooooooonnnnnnnnnnnng.

Let's have context here too....something this board doesn't do well. It's the NFL's best D....Greenlaw and Warner run like safeties.

Oh, he made some awful throws today.

I'd say a good 5 or 6 of them.

But the pressure from the 49ers was the difference in this game.

You and many others will shut the fuck up about Pickett in the coming weeks. That I know.

Perch won't show up. He'll be off doing other things.

The defense, offensive line and running game were much, much more concerning to me, no matter how Kenny played.

You'll see.

Clearly this is an outlier performance for Pickett. What the fuck caused it is baffling.

OLine was on skates at the point of collision.
RBs were also in Pickett’s throwing halo because the defense was in the backfield a lot deeper and quicker than they have been expecting and practicing.

I think that wrecked the timing of the whole offense.

The Oline needs more proactive violence in the first second to blunt the movement backwards and the RBs need to start meeting the defenders with more proactive violence to keep the throwing halo cleaner.

The refs were not giving US a home field advantage and Tomlin again doesn’t rip into them and is too passive to swing the pendulum.

That is all I have. On to Cleveland!
