Any news on Watt's injured heel?
Secure NHALS early and then go deep into the PLAYOFFS.

I wonder if that is in addition to his hand or just a misprint.

According to NFL Network reporters Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero, Pittsburgh Steelers edge rusher T.J. Watt suffered a serious finger injury in the team’s last game, including a dislocation and torn ligaments.
However, according to Rapoport, Watt doesn’t plan to miss any time this season. Depending on how the injury heals, he could need surgery after the season.

TJ Watt, who said the heel issue that popped up yesterday was minor, says he dislocated his left pinkie finger vs. Ravens on the 7th or 8th play and popped it back in. Said he realized how bad it was when he took his glove off and his pinky was “the size of a hamburger patty”

Glad it is "minor" and he plans to play on Sunday.

Time for Washington to shine.
If they actually use him as a pass catching target.
6'-7" 264.
Has 3 total targets in 5 games.
But he did not really become part of the game plan until the last game without Mooth.....
in which he was peppered all game with 2 targets.
Jeez.

Seen enough of Freiermuth.
He needs to be jettisoned, if at all possible, this off season.

I dunno. One of the “routes” I saw him running looked as if it was the 1st route he’s ever ran. Didn’t look good.Stosh-67 wrote: ↑Fri Oct 20, 2023 6:08 pmTime for Washington to shine.

The Steelers are among the NFL’s worst teams in total offense (30th) and total defense (28th). Highest paid defense in the league by far. We are lucky to have Mike Tomlin.
It's scary as fuck, with all the other needs this team has, that TE might end up being a very high priority need with Freiermuth perpetually injured and Washington possibly not the guy.955876 wrote: ↑Fri Oct 20, 2023 6:23 pmI dunno. So I guess with Gunner getting cut, Friermuth now moves to the top of the SteelerFury hate list…
NHALS = NFL purgatory
Someone here was touting him as a 1st rounder.
Can’t recall the name but I’ve seen him referred to as the “village idiot” quite a few times.

Oh, I thought Pressley Harvin III was pretty high up the list. Although I think he is better this year.

They will miss Frymouths one catch big time.

I'd love for this team to show some stones and move up in the draft to get Brock Bowers (they moved up to get that POS Yeasty Gash Bush). If not target the TE from Texas
Obliteration Is Imminent
He's very near the top with me.
I expected him to at least become a 2nd tier TE this year.
Nope.

I was going to say "What if the reason Washington isn't targeted is because he's actually not very good?"
I can't imagine the winged god of pigskin tossing wouldn't feed him the ball if he could get even a doorknob's worth of separation....

If he played in a real NFL system, he'd likely have a better chance at life.

The Steelers will never know how to truly use elite talent in my lifetime. I’ve accepted it long ago.
Doesn’t mean they should quit going after numbers players. They severely lack in that area quite often.
It’s also pretty damn telling that the only real success the organization has EVER had was when the roster was loaded with numbers players.
And further to the point it’s highly likely even those brief successful periods don’t happen without the 2 biggest outlier QBs of the Super Bowl era and quite possibly in all of NFL history
Would I draft DW again in the first if Anthony Richardson was off the board ?? Hell yes.
If the Steelers don’t take at least a 7th round shot on Arik Gilbert I will be damn disappointed and I’d be all for as high as a 5th if they trade down and get some more picks

Freiermuth is such a fucking dud. Who gives a shit if he’s out. We need a legit TE on this team. Is Darnell that guy?
“Thoughts are a waste of time for me.” - Michael Pettaway Tomlin
On paper this appears to be good matchup for the TEs and even more so if the the Rams top ILB, Jones, who is questionable, gets scratched. Washington will be kept in to block mostly but if there are red zone opportunities, they need to start giving him some shots. This should be a good game for C Heyward to get 5-6 catches, 50-60 yds, a few key 3rd downs. Maybe Rodney Williams even books his first NFL catch.

Muth was another guy more than a few poasters were expecting to have a breakout year....Orangesteel wrote: ↑Sat Oct 21, 2023 4:57 amFreiermuth is such a fucking dud. Who gives a shit if he’s out. We need a legit TE on this team. Is Darnell that guy?
Of course, I got called names for stating the simple fact I was tired of overrating these guys every year. Maybe it's the coaching, but we really are becoming like Browns fans where we're putting guys like Pickens in the top-5 receivers and thinking Najee is a good RB.
And we do the same with FAs - remember the hype over Peterson? And where the fuck has Allen Robinson been while DJ was out? That's the formula - dumpster dive for has-beens, the fans get all excited, and then shortly into the season we realize they're has-beens.

Not being a Muth apologist, but he seemed to be very off whatever game he had all year before this injury. No targets, missing blocks, not contributing anything positive, like he wasn’t even on the field. Most likely fighting through some underlying injury until he finally broke. Extremely disappointing. Like the Emperor said, “we have problems and they are many”.
This team is too in love with position flexibility/versatility JAGs that have few glaring weaknesses but also don't do much that is above average.
And one of the shifts in recent years has been to reach for high-floor guys in the early rounds to fill holes: Muth, Najee, Green, Pickett. And there are more.
Steelers used to pretty regularly hit big on their R1 pick, and often the R2 or R3 pick. This will make you puke outside of DJ and Highsmith. Oh man, that 2021 draft
2018: R1 Edmunds, R2 James Washington, R3 Mason Rudolph
2019: R1,R2 and R3 on Devin Bush, R3 Diontae Johnson
2020: R1 [Minkah], R2 Claypool, R3 Highsmith
2021: R1 Najee, R2 Muth, R3 Green, R4 Moore
And 2017 was actually a great draft, based on TJ alone...if only JuJu, Cam Sutton, James Conner and Joshua Dobbs were still on the roster....
Holy crap, I've often said that Colbert was a HOF GM, but that's 3-4 years of pretty awful drafting. 2022 looks pretty decent, jury still out on 2023 but already looks better than that streak.

I’m in shock someone as slow as Muth could even pull a hamstring.

If JPJ turns out to be a star (looks good so far), then that 2020 draft looks pretty great, in effect resulting in Minkah, JPJ, Highsmith - three great players.Kodiak. wrote: ↑Sat Oct 21, 2023 6:05 pmThis team is too in love with position flexibility/versatility JAGs that have few glaring weaknesses but also don't do much that is above average.

The Steelers missed more than they hit on high-round draft picks from 2013-2019. It's one of the main reasons the Steelers haven't done much of anything the past 10 years.
