Snap Counts vs Cincy
Snapaddicts,
"And you know who you are".........
69 offensive snaps ( 2nd week in a row ), to 62 for Cincy
More offensive snaps in 10 of first 12 games. ( Giants & Dallas )
Won the TOP battle once again
31:09 time of possession.
After 12 weeks,
Won TOP in 10 of 12 games ( Giants & Dallas )
The Steelers still lead the NFL in time of possession @ 32:42 "Smells like.....Victory"
With a 44Burger.........the Steelers jump up from 14th in scoring, to 10th in the NFL.
Top 10!
Wow, anybody predict this in August?
Offense
69 snaps.
Russ 67
Fields 2
OL
4 of 5 OL all 69 snaps.
Seumalo 67.
Spencer Andersen - 2
Did not see when Semo came out?
WRs
Pickens -63 - 3 for 74, 1 TD on 6 targets.
He is nuts.
"Yes!"
"Don't"
"Why would you do that"
"Yes!"
"Jeez"
He sure is entertaining.
Before Russ and After Russ stats.
BR - 26-363-13.9-0 in 6 games
AR - 29-487-16.8- 3TD in 6 games.
George and the Lunch Pails
Van - 43 ( after his snaps started going down last few weeks )
3 targets, 1 big catch
Skowroneck - 23 snaps, 1 for 23
Austin - 16 0nly - 2 catches, 2 targets another TD
His missed snaps most likely bumped up Vans.
M. Williams -17 ...........( ZERO TARGETS AGAIN, FOR THIRD WEEK IN A ROW )
4 games, ONE TARGET.
They are setting some play, some team up.
I think he needs to be patient 2 more games.....and he breaks out on Christmas vs KC.
RBs
Najee - 36 - 16 for 75, 1 TD 4.7 avg. 6 for 54 out of backfield
Warren -25 - 3 for 9, 3 avg. 4 for 55
Patterson - 10 snaps. 3 for 16 and 3 for 37
When he's on he's on. When he is not, he look slow. I will take the boost again vs. the Ravens.
RBs out of backfield 13 for 146. 11.2 avg.
Was deadly and by design.
Did two things......
Set up much more advantageous 2nd downs.
Kept some pressure off the OL in the passing game.
TEs
Mooth -46, again, makes most of his targets, 6 for 68 yards, 1 TD, 7 targets
Darnell - 34, 1 for 1, 10 yards
Pruit - 25, 2 for 21
If these guys are on the field so often, then they need to see targets.....as it will help ease off the ILB and S's
to help the run game.
Co. Heyward - 5.
Much better low snap count. We do not need to go back to watching him miss blocks and get blown up in backfield.
DEFENSE
Only Minka and Queen all 62 snaps,
ILBs
Queen -62 ( 4 solo, 5 assists = 9 tackles )

DeShon Elliott - 56 ( 7 + 4 = 11 )
Sutton - 45. ( 1 + 3 = 4, 2 PD )

first 3 games 44 combined snaps.
Kazee - 15 ( 3 solo )
Beanie Bishop -6 ( 1 + 1 = 2 ) low snap total of the year.
Snaps decreasing for last 5 weeks.... 60, 33, 29, 21, 6
Killebrew -2
Dline
Cameron Heyward - 42 ( 3 + 2 = 5, 1 sack, 2 QBH, 2 TFL, 1 PD ) filling the stats sheet each week.
He is gonna TKO somebody on some of his tackles.
Keeanu Benton -35 ( 1 + 0 = 1, 1 QBH ) think they took a half sack away from him, gave the full to TJ
Larry Ogunjobi -33 ( 2 + 0 = 2 )
Isaiahh Loudermilk - 14
Lowry - 6
11 total QB hits this game. ( after only six, for 3 weeks in a row )
ST's
The Wizard of Boz
3 for 4.
I do not consider a block a miss.....unless kick is low or slow.
Has missed only 3 out of 63 total kicks this year......62 and 58 yarders and a block
Still on record breaking pace for most FGs in a season.
Waitman.
1 punt - 38 yards.
only 2 punts in 2 games is a good thing.

Stosh great thread week after week. I think I take more away from these threads, about the Steelers trends, tendencies & status, than I do from all the pundit's articles & stats & grades like PFF. Learn alot about the team from these.
I have one question: does this mean Herbig played 5 more snaps then TJ??? If so, very interesting & something I didn't know or notice.
OLB's
T.J. Watt - 47 - 95% ( 3 + 0 = 3, 2 sacks, 1 FF, 5 QBH )
Herbig - 52 ( 1 = 1 = 2. 1 sack, 2 QBH, 1 FF)
I have to assume, they don't mind giving TJ more rest to keep him fresh with Preston Smith coming in, in relief.

Thanks Stosh....sorry to press the issue with you
Yes Steeler fan.
52 snaps for Herbig.
May be the first time he had more snaps than TJ.
That TJ 47 snaps should read 77%.
Which is s low percentage for him. Yeah..Preston is helping keep that number lower.
They believe Highsmith is back for Sunday. That is some 4 some.
I think there should be a good amount of packages with herbig. Highsmith and TJ on field together

I was thinking Cam would get fewer snaps because of his age. Coach T was like nah. Glad to see Hayward ball though

Re-watched last night on NFL network....primarily to see personnel groupings, as wasn't so obvious watching live on my phone.
Noticed that steelers got gashed when going to their dime...that would be the 3rd & 21 with 6 db's on the phone, and were there 7 db's on the field on the 50 yarder to chase on bungals' final possession? Mike Williams is on the field a lot with Pickens. Tomlin said yesterday that he produces in practice and just a matter of time til we see that in a game. IMO, just the game winner in Washington alone makes this an invaluable acquisition

How is no one talking about Sutton? He was bad last week.
Looks like Sutton is taking snaps away from Bishop, which I do not like.

Boz’s kick went straight up! He pounded that thing. It was a blocking failure in my estimation.Stosh-67 wrote: ↑Tue Dec 03, 2024 11:25 pm

Also I blame Tomlin for the 58 yarder. Should have never kicked that with the conditions.
Speaking of kickers, watching Hard Knocks and looking at Tucker’s swing, if you know golf you can see that he is kicking stingers. @955876 watch Hard Knocks and Tucker’s kicks and tell me he is not kicking knock down stingers. That most likely is his problem. Saw it on most of his kicks in the Phili game….unless there was some driving wind that necessitated kicking a knock down stinger, I would say that his kicking problem is not following through with a full swing. Maybe an injury is preventing that. .
I stayed at a Holiday Inn last night!
Thanks for providing this analysis. Just another reason why SF is the best site on the net for Stillers news and analysis!

Yeah, Sutton was victimized on a pair of the bengals touchdowns and other big completions as well. Tomlin really likes Sutton, has spoken of him as being sort of a kindred spirit as a football junkie.
He was asked specifically about the "division of labor" (a fave Tomlin reference) and if Sutton is now the nickel back. Tomlin said not necessarily, but rather that it's dependent on matchups, etc. Seems that Sutton has surpassed beanie though

This. Beanie makes plays and has earned that spot IMO. On a similar note, I'd be awfully inclined to give Herbig more snaps than a back-from-injury Highsmith.
You're right: Steelers get smoked when they go to Nickel or Dime. It's been a bad trend through the year. When Steelers are in base/big Nickel they can contain the run.swissvale72 wrote: ↑Wed Dec 04, 2024 4:40 pmRe-watched last night on NFL network....primarily to see personnel groupings, as wasn't so obvious watching live on my phone.

I felt like the Bungals gave up too early/easily on the ground. Their RB was getting almost 6 YARDS PER CARRY!
Right on.pickarooney wrote: ↑Wed Dec 04, 2024 6:58 pmThis. Beanie makes plays and has earned that spot IMO. On a similar note, I'd be awfully inclined to give Herbig more snaps than a back-from-injury Highsmith.
No need to rush AH back in to action,
especially with the impact plays that Herbig makes.
And the addition of Preston Wilson.
If you want to get Highsmith some game action before the 3 game / 11 day Gauntlet of Philly, Ravens and KC,
then limit him to 12-15-18 snaps, get his feet back under him before then.
Moon does not get his 5 defensive snaps, B2B. ( Back 2 Bench ) But he will get a helmet, since he usually plays 15-18-20 S.T.'s snaps per game.
TJ can have a load reduction some, also with the Gauntlet on the horizon.
One thing Herbig needs to clean up is setting the edge, as he is more eager to take that inside angle. Eagles and Hurt and Ravens and Lamar, will take advantage of that.
The Steelers defense see an avg. of 58 snaps per game.
They always have at least 2 of their OLB on the field.
We have had a handful of plays a game with 3 of these guys on the field, with TJ in the middle or left side, Preston Wilson in the game as DE.
FYI. TJs 77% snap count on Sunday ( 47 of 62 defensive snaps ) was a season low %
he is usually 86-95%
With all 4 healthy, there could be some really nasty, tricky, confusing, effective combinations.........especially 3rd and longs.
A.H. and Herbig at the OLB.
Smith and TJ bouncing around in the middle, picking and choosing, stunting.
Keep in mind, Smith, listed at 6'-5" - 265...........is more likely 270-275 ( the late 2000's typical NY Giant pass rushing DE's size guy )
A.H. Smith, TJ, Herbig
Herbig, Cam, Smith, TJ.

I like that Chase Brown kid.
5th round / 163rd overall.
No need to use a 1st or 2nd on a RB.
