This is it?
Are we not getting the old site back? You know the one that was easy to read, easy to post, just plain easier?

I'll definitely get the yellow on gray problem fixed, and always trying to make features more like the good part of the old site, but I'm disappointed to hear you think it's a worse user experience. I've been trying to make it better--even though this format is pretty much stuck in the stone age.
Louis Lipps Service is working on reintegrating the old user accounts and posts and I am working on migrating everything you see here back to the steelerfury.com site so it won't disturb the work firewalls and also so I can fully market and use my store site.
Tell me this, OSF: what's more difficult? Is it just that you were used to the old site and this is different. There are some bugs but it seems less buggy than the old site.

I think operationally from a user interface standpoint it is pretty much the same. I have issues with graphic design, but hell, you can only do so much with templates. For example, on the Pittsburgh Steelers and NFL Discussion page, I have to scroll nearly two thirds the way down to see threads or topics past the first two or three. The banner across the top is way too big(should have the cheering crowd like the now unavailable front page), and it doesn't load right on my phone. But my phone is a dinosaur in tech terms. The time stamps don't work unless you are logged in. They are all over the place, and the double log in persists. I work around it by pretending to post - it takes me to the real log in page - but it's one more click and load than necessary.bradshaw2ben wrote: ↑Mon Oct 28, 2019 8:20 pmI'll definitely get the yellow on gray problem fixed, and always trying to make features more like the good part of the old site, but I'm disappointed to hear you think it's a worse user experience. But I can adapt. It's what makes humans, humans. And all of us are grateful that you are putting in the work to keep this site going. Much appreciated.
BTW, 56 big ones, eh? Congrats.

Yeah, I feel like it's one thing fixed, two things broken. Haven't been able to figure out the double sign-in yet.
Even though this template is responsive and the old one is not, viewing dinosaur software like this on a dinosaur phone will certainly yield some unexpected results.
BTW the front page is still available:
either at sportsandshit.com
or steelerfury.com and follow the link
I'm trying to migrate the boards to steelerfury so I can have sportsandshit back online to do what it's intended to do.

Would like to chime in here with another massive thank you to B2B and everyone behind the scenes for keeping my favorite internet Steelers bar open through it all.
Season like this? It's been like a much needed support group. Can't be thankful enough.

I was trying to do the Steelers official colors, but it's a whole bunch of trial and error to change specific colors.

So much better than the old site for iPhone and iPad use. Much easier to post and add pictures and videos.
I think aesthetically speaking, as well as ergonomically speaking, get rid of the grey. I know B2B, because of your moniker you want to keep the grey
, but it is a contrast nightmare for older eyes and software designers and webpage developers would never use that color scheme.
Nice job overall. You will never please all the people all the time, just some of the people some of the time.
The old site did have a fireplace feeling to it...oddly enough.

I am grateful that I was able to become a member. For years I was unable to contact admin or create a user name (read only).bradshaw2ben wrote: ↑Mon Oct 28, 2019 9:10 pmI was trying to do the Steelers official colors, but it's a whole bunch of trial and error to change specific colors.
I did like the old site but I am getting comfortable with the new.
So thank you for everything you do to keep the site going.

I have been having issues logging in on my iPhone.
Anyone else?
Anyone else?
It took me a year or so to be able to register. And the user name I chose was altered in a way that I couldn't just type it in. I had to copy it from the email hardnosed sent me. Like it had an embedded code in it. ?? Hmmm.Texas Black & Gold wrote: ↑Mon Oct 28, 2019 10:31 pmI am grateful that I was able to become a member. I like the new format better. The old one was a bit stale for me. I still wouldn’t mind an upvote option, but not necessary.
It's not perfect but neither was the last site and almost everything else in life. I feel bad for B2B to get criticism when he went out of his way to save our message board we've called home for decades.
Thanks again B2B...

Probably can't do it but thought I would ask. Anyway to get a hold of the avatar used on the old site? It was a picture of Polamalu as the Led Zeppelin Angel from The Song Remains the Same.

Still not allowed to sign in at first try... So, there's that.
I don't like to complain except maybe an infrequent mention of Lynch's racist trolling but I'm not so good with the yellow, as well. Meanwhile, I am very appreciative of all the hard work that has been put into this site.

I think if the color scheme can just be ironed out this format is fine. I personally have no issues with it other than it's hard to see some things around the banner. From a posting perspective I see absolutely no difference. I appreciate the efforts B2B and LLS!

the bright comes from the white background in the text boxes themselves. This could be greyed down a bit...bradshaw2ben wrote: ↑Mon Oct 28, 2019 9:41 pmThe complaint without the gray was: too bright Trying to make everyone happy = facepalmLakecrestSteeler wrote: ↑Mon Oct 28, 2019 9:17 pmSo much better than the old site for iPhone and iPad use. the page background that's grey now should be black, because that's just what's right and holy.
The funky rust colored buttons all around look pretty awful, too, but I appreciate all you do to make this site happen way too much to piss and moan about it.
I can save that for when we talk about Mike Tomlin's "performance"
If we need to get into the CSS or whatever we need to do to make some of these aesthetic changes happen, I could help you with that.
It's part of what I do every day, so...

Very appreciative of B2B's efforts!
This is the first time I've been able to regularly view the site on my phone without going crazy.

How about it? Any word on "fixing" this broken feature? Is it my misfortune and learn to accept it? Or is it something to do with this browser I implement? Curious is all.Steelafan77 wrote: ↑Tue Oct 29, 2019 11:42 amStill not allowed to sign in at first try... So, there's that.![]()

I changed the board backgrounds to darker gray and that seems to help for the time being. I’d say the logging in issue is the main problem at the moment. That one has me stumped.

B2B....I apologize if you thought my comment was an attack. I regularly enjoy SteelerFury and appreciate all your efforts to keep it going.
Like others I am having trouble reading the gold on gray script.
On another note what is happening with the pick the score contest. I can't seem to find results for the past few games.
And for all you guys who are happy because the site is now better on your phones.....I'm happy for you.
I don't own a cell and still have a landline.
I also remember Steeler games at Pitt Stadium and Bobby Lane playing without a facemask.
Don't run with scissors and respect your elders.

New site is a little hard on the eyes.
These Eyes.
Like I think Cor mentioned.........Harder on my old cell phone that PC.
I see the yellow band that has "Board index, Forums, PS and NFL discussion"........has a yellow background and black lettering on the PC but black on the PC
But on my phone its black background and hard to see lettering.
I guess some setting I need to change.
I will assume small changes and improvements over time will continue to make the site better.
Thanks Gentlemen.
