Actually, I thought he looked pretty good running it on those first couple of drives. Doesn't require too big a crease.

They took Washington off the field in RZ, on every 3 WR set, on most 2 TE sets, and even on some goal to go plays. I was really surprised and it undoubtedly was a big factor in being unable to run the ball AND in pass protection. Broderick and Dan Moore got a ton of help from 80 in pass pro last year and there was a obvious difference today.
I was surprised as well. Really thought they'd feature him.

I like Washington. His lack of use is beyond irritating. Is he not one of Tomlin's faves or something?bradshaw2ben wrote: ↑Mon Sep 08, 2025 2:34 amThey took Washington off the field in RZ, on every 3 WR set, on most 2 TE sets, and even on some goal to go plays. The Jets were 5 - 12 last year.
This year they brought a rookie coach with a cast-off quarterback.
The Steelers still needed a near miraculous turn of events to win.
I'll be reserving my enthusiasm.
Good morning to all. I enjoyed the win.

I worry that he will still be "learning" 3 years from now. Everytime I see him bullrushed right into the QBs lap. Please line Washington up next to him.K_C_ wrote: ↑Sun Sep 07, 2025 8:36 pmYep. I think Broderick will settle in. We need someone to steal his Camaro and pull a "Fast Times at Ridgemont High" and destroy like Spicoli and his little brother did.
Let Broderick know next week's opponent stole his Camaro and we will run for 400 yards in a blowout win.
Dude just needs to keep working. Hard and Jesus I want to see him play PISSED OFF.

Seriously, isn't there any better option than a lumbering big back? He looked like Andy Russell during the world's slowest fumble recovery return in the playoffs against the Colts.
Is there any chance Tomlin saw what the rest of us did and pulls the plug on this experiment?

Couple unrelated loose thoughts...
*in the category of Mike Tomlin's greatest gift being an "exceedingly well developed line of bullshit," when talking about Boz...."our kicker is a serial killer." And oh, was listening to his postgame, Mrs Swiss, in the room but not really listening, "That guy again? Why doesn't he go onto the next question." Me: "they haven't asked him any questions yet."
-out of NYC, Jints aren't committing to starting Russell Wilson in week 2, he was that bad yesterday.

And one more thing...Steelers fuckup on extra point attempt after jets first TD may have decided the game. Had Jets not taken that point off the board, then chased that point all game long, Boz's 60 yarder would have been to tie, not win.
Thus my point. Fautanu is technically sound and just needs some experience. Jones was raw when drafted and seems to have learned nothing by his 3rd year. And a weak point for him requires little technique when DEs are bullrushing right into his chest. He does not have the strength or the sand to reset thus he is ridden back into the QB.

Secure NHALS early and then go deep into the PLAYOFFS.

One of the many things that drives me nuts, is once Tomlin makes up his mind about a player- he is almost entirely unwilling to change that position, irrespective of the results on the field
Washington- no targets
Wilson- no targets
Johnson- 1 rushing attempt. In deference to Tomlin, I'm not sure Johnson has the quickness to play behind the line, the way they were getting schooled today
on Defense
how tf is Black sitting behind Benton or Loudermilk? The run D is getting torched, and Benton in specific, yet Black is on the sideline
Tomlins in game adjustments and decision making are still bottom of the barrel

Black is a rookie and a 5th round rookie. To expect him to "save" the run defense is crazy. To expect him and Harmon to turn this shit show around before November is also crazy.

Oh, they'll move on from him 3 years from now on if Jones is still learning but we have to remember it's the dude's first game starting at LT and that's very different than playing RT.jebrick wrote: ↑Mon Sep 08, 2025 11:53 amI worry that he will still be "learning" 3 years from now. Did Broderick suck? Oh yes, he sure did. Is it time to bail on him? Not even close. Jones has the talent. He just needs technique work and some goddamn confidence. He needs to play angrier instead of playing back on his heels all the time.
I 100% disagree with those who said Jones showed no fight. He most certainly fought and dude will keep fighting. They are nowhere near benching Broderick Jones nor should they be.

Folk had missed the kick, but the Steelers had an illegal formation penalty.
A two point try from the one when you have a running QB like Fields is a good risk to take.

Basically, the Steelers KR fumbled but his teammate recovered it. The Jets KR fumbled and the Steelers recovered.
The Steelers committed a late hit out of bounds... not called. The Jets did the same, 15-yard drive-saving play.
Jets' kicker missed an XP.
If Justin Fields runs on the last play instead of passing, he gets a 1st down and possibly more as he had momentum and the angle on the LB & Safety near him.
if any of those go the other way, it's probably a loss.
Difference in the game was minimal and nearly miraculous.

I forgot that he had missed the kick, Jeems...but assuming he kicks again and makes it, which he most likely would have, the point I made remains valid.jeemie wrote: ↑Mon Sep 08, 2025 2:45 pmHe didn't take the point off the board.swissvale72 wrote: ↑Mon Sep 08, 2025 12:46 pmAnd one more thing...Steelers fuckup on extra point attempt after jets first TD may have decided the game. Now...I'm not criticizing the decision to go for 2, just stating that it was likely the dif between Boz kicking for the win vs a tie. Also, the one point to debate is handing it off to the back in that spot when Justin fields (2 running TDs on the day) is your QB...dude is almost unstoppable from the 1.

Well, lets be clear, doing the same shit they've been doing, that doesn't work, isn't going to solve the problem either.
When you are giving up 200 yards on the ground, to a team you knew was going to have to run the ball... that's a problem
If they can't get that fixed- whether by scheme adjustment or change of personnel, any conversation about them winning in Dec and Jan is a non-starter.
Washington looked like shit when he lined up next to Jones in the 1st quarter. Just too slow out of his stance.bradshaw2ben wrote: ↑Mon Sep 08, 2025 3:03 pmFIFYjebrick wrote: ↑Mon Sep 08, 2025 11:53 amI worry that he will still be "learning" 3 years from now. Wildly close and yet the 41-40 classic night had about the same if not more. The NFL has one hell of a product (usually).bradshaw2ben wrote: ↑Mon Sep 08, 2025 3:02 pmBasically, the Steelers KR fumbled but his teammate recovered it. The Jets KR fumbled and the Steelers recovered.

The NFL has one hell of a shitty product. Watched that Bills/Ravens ending and just thought these defenses both suck on top of the rules being geared completely in the QB's favor.
