The second penalty was idiotic, not so much the first. After which Boswell arguably makes the longer field goal to win. Just trying to make sure the arguments are consistent.955876 wrote: ↑Wed Dec 10, 2025 8:25 pmA win is a win so it counts.swissvale72 wrote: ↑Wed Dec 10, 2025 8:03 pmOkay 2....my mistake. Wrong. He won two playoff games in his final 12 seasons.
And as it has been pointed out, Noll had more leeway because (1) he was 4-0 in Super Bowls and (2) he built those Super Bowl teams.
Jibba can’t say that now can he?
He’s got 1 more playoff win than Noll over the past 12 years and that win was literally gifted to him by the Bengals.
He has also made this franchise worse (much worse) the longer he’s been in charge. There is no history of him building anything.
Not the same at all.
I’m simply pointing out that game was essentially lost till the Bengals gifted us 30 yards as time expired on two very idiotic personal foul penalties.
Now Benjisan might have pulled out the FG drive without those. It can’t be disputed though that those 30 yards greatly impacted that final result.
Are we going to crown Jibba for 3 wins over the last 12 years vs Noll’s 2 wins over his last 12 years? Especially when Jibba hasn’t come even remotely close to sniffing a playoff win over the past 8 years?
The man 100% deserves all the vitriol coming his way because he chooses to play in a manner that directly leads to these poor results.
Tomlin's record is suspect enough without making shit up
But + Ben Roethlisberger.swissvale72 wrote: ↑Wed Dec 10, 2025 8:59 pmExcept he too, almost did....against the eventual SB champs Broncos in 2015....minus AB.

The Bungs committed two boneheaded dumb personal foul penalties. Nothing made up bout it.
If you want to pretend those 30 yards didn’t greatly assist in that slim victory go right ahead.
Wouldn’t be the dumbest thing you’ve put on tape in the is thread.
Trying to compare the leeway given Noll to Jibba….

Comparing playoff appearances when there was one only ONE WC to the current system is ridiculous.
Only one WC 7 seed ever won and that was GB last year.
That's like comparing the Canadiens NHL wins during the Big Six era to a Stanley Cup now. Having 5x the number of teams and more playoff rounds greatly reduces your odds.
I recall that the only reason that the '76 or whatever team made the playoffs was that Oakland did not tank to CIN.
If we are going to have a seven seed, it should be the best remaining records at large including both conferences meaning that SF and DET both could get in at 11-6 over shitty 9-8 AFC teams.

What you're making up because you apparently can't fucking read is that the penalty on Burfict, was a vicious hit on a defenseless receiver...not exactly "boneheaded." And the citation to Noll is that he had some VERY lean years, yet so-called Steeler fans were not rooting for losses during the 80s (maybe perch was...he always does)955876 wrote: ↑Wed Dec 10, 2025 9:22 pmWhat did I make up?swissvale72 wrote: ↑Wed Dec 10, 2025 9:04 pmThe second penalty was idiotic, not so much the first. Burfict was out there headhunting like a selfish cunt. I said it’s boneheaded not because the call was bad but rather because Burdict should have know better. Especially with the lead, time dwindling down, and us needing to get into FG range. He was the bonehead.
Make sense now?
And Nolls “lean years” without a playoff win was 4 in total.
Jibbs is at 8 and has been blown off the field in the playoff games we’ve been in.
The two are not remotely close.
And to further my point, if Noll, the same Noll that delivered FOUR Super Bowls can get nudged out the door after those “lean years” then why can’t this clown?

I guess to be fair to Swiss, his argument isn't that Tomlin can't or shouldn't be shown the door as much as he recognizes or believes that Art II won't. He's even gone as far as to admit race is probably a large factor in that.
We're all kind of arguing past one another. Few are actually happy about the state of the franchise right now to include Swiss I'd wager. You have almost no true believers left particularly on this site.

Ok. So you’ve resigned yourself to the belief that no matter how bad things get Art won’t fire Jibba. That we are stuck with him.swissvale72 wrote: ↑Wed Dec 10, 2025 10:42 pmHe CAN....but he won't. And because we are stuck with him we might as well not complain about it and wish the team to lose since he isn’t going anywhere anyways.
Might I ask why you do t practice what you preach when it comes to the current POTUS?
You bitching bout him doesn’t change anything. And while you hate the man, he hasn’t gotten us into a war and your social security check still arrives on time.
Yet if free for all were still a thing there you’d be (daily) starting threads and bitching bout him.
Even though you hate him, and bitching bout him won’t change anything, can’t you accept the mediocre results and shut up bout it?
See the similarity here?
You daily bitched bout a man you hate even though you’ve openly admitted you don’t pay attention to politics.
And yet here you disparage us for being sick and tired of a Jibba after 18 seasons and rightfully wanting him gone.
Quite the double standard uoto be got going on.
And not trying to turn this into a political post with further political commentary.
I’m simply pointing out if free for all were still here you’d be daily bitching bout Trump and starting threads while over here you chastise us for bitching bout Tomlin and wanting the team to fail bad enough it forces change.
Unlike Trump, Jibba can have a job for life if we allow it.
Accepting these results, buying merch, not going at games, etc etc keeps Dunce in his safe lil bubble.

Funny....you post political shit on this forum, then tell us you're not doing so. Priceless. I really don't give a fuck if you think it's more fun to root against the Steelers than root for them. PIT is like 27th in offense and 28th in defense. How do we not get absolutely rolled again if we make the playoffs? But with A-aron we might actually score in Q1 this time.
I simply used an example. An example where you act one way when it suits your hate for a man then completely the opposite when it’s the Steelers while chastising others for being sooooo done with a man.swissvale72 wrote: ↑Wed Dec 10, 2025 11:16 pmFunny....you post political shit on this forum, then tell us you're not doing so. Oh I’m not crying. I already said in this thread or another that your optimism is cute.
I just don’t share it as long as Jibba Jabber is running the show and would have preferred a complete collapse here at year end.
This team has actually put me into a win/win situation though.
If they go on a run and pull off a miracle I’ll be happy.
But if Jibba and his “vaunted” defense get their shit pushed in yet again that’ll make me laugh and I’ll enjoy seeing the fallout.
Even better if Scam Heyward cries after the game that a QB hurt his tummy.

I still say 1989 was Noll's best coaching effort of his career.
A Mark Stock dropped pass from the AFCCG after an 0-2 start where they were outscored 92-10...both division games.
And they had several players that became mainstays on the early Cowher teams...Dawson, Jackson, Lake, Lloyd, Olsavsky, Woodson

Yall are funny. This is why I’m still on a message board in the year 2025. Well, that and I’ve been around since the Gildong days of Stillers. Creature of habit I suppose.
Swiss love the optimism but wanting to see an extra week of the Steelers getting their asses kicked is almost akin Stockholm syndrome. You’ve resigned to accept Tomlin because in your mind he’s not going anywhere and no amount of losses will ever get him fired. That’s your opinion and rightfully so.
However, the chants of Fire Tomlin at a home game happened for the first time in 19 years. We’re in purgatory and a lot of us are pissed off and are willing to accept that the ONLY way Jibbs seat gets even remotely warm is by getting their asses kicked every week in embarrassing fashion and public opinion shifts towards the “haters”
Me personally? I’m indifferent. I don’t care one way or the other tbh at this point. I will say that I won’t be mad to see them play in a WC game but only because I think tying Marvin Lewis’ record of 7 consecutive playoff losses could be more damaging to Jibbs resume.

Match ups, schemes and pride. Toss in a couple of lucky bounces or calls and you keep it close. Any given Sunday.

1) Jibbs built his career getting lucky in the match-up department so it could happen again.Match ups, schemes and pride.
2) We ride the short bus when it comes to schemes. Jibba knows how to play checkers. The rest of the league plays chess.
3) You think this team really has pride? Teams with pride don’t collapse at year-end the way Jibba’s teams routinely do.

Who gives a fuck? I mean seriously. 8-8 and 9-7 seasons are awesome aren’t they? I’m sure New England would kill to have all those consecutive non losing season… oh wait a min, they did have losing seasons after winning all those super bowls. Wanna guess how they are doing now after firing a 6x SB coach? I swear to God NHALS is the absolute dumbest thing ever. Shall we discuss his playoff record or nah?Texas Black & Gold wrote: ↑Thu Dec 11, 2025 4:52 amSteelers closing in on an NFL record 22nd consecutive season finishing .500 or better - NBC Sports https://share.google/uRjaPBi7OAX7aKPSo

Anyone who is trying to sell this garbage to the unwashed masses.Who gives a fuck?
It really is amazing how we've defined deviancy down to keep people happy...or "happy". This football team is shit, they luck into wins, they destroy the careers of young players, they lie corruptly, they live in a fantasy world and so on.
"I'm institutionalized, man," he joked. "I gotta have it. I just love the challenges week in and week out that this job provides: the growth in it, the collective growth, the individual growth."

I wonder if he also gives a fuck that during that timeframe the Cowboys made the playoffs 18 times, had a record of 20-13, went to 5 SBs and won 2. Playoff records matter…. Unless you’re a fan boy and enjoy .500 regular season records. Tomlin is 8-11 in the playoffs and only won playoff games in 4 of 19 seasons.Texas Black & Gold wrote: ↑Thu Dec 11, 2025 10:05 amApparently the author Michael David SmithWorks At A Bank wrote: ↑Thu Dec 11, 2025 5:42 amWho gives a fuck?Texas Black & Gold wrote: ↑Thu Dec 11, 2025 4:52 amSteelers closing in on an NFL record 22nd consecutive season finishing .500 or better - NBC Sports https://share.google/uRjaPBi7OAX7aKPSo
