As I said on the podcast-- before TJ was injured--I feel like the only trouble PIT can get themselves into this week is if they look at last week and say: "oh boy we have to be able to get the run game going this week because we can't win games just winging it around in December and January", and decide this is the week to try and run the shit out of the ball.
The reality is: they need to put the game in the hands of their vet QB, tell Tomlin and Art Smith to try and keep up, and attack the defense however it is open to attack. Passing attacks more about downfield that horizontal extensions of the run game. This is the Truth going forward.
If you get into a running-the-ball contest with Miami, you stand a great chance of losing. They have a really good run blocking OL and two backs who can bring it. Also, once they get you invested in trying to stop the run, they have burners who can get behind your linebackers and safeties.
If you go horizontal and quick game against them, you bring Minkah (playing mostly nickel and hybrid safety for them) into play and he can ruin. your day.
If you trot out the Arthur Smith/Mike Tomlin familiar gameplan of runs into stacked boxes combined with quick passes to the outside and the underneath, you're playing kind of into the way they want to play.
