1. We can point this out all day long. Jackson didn't initiate any interaction with a fan. He can rightfully claim self-defense and not against derogatory words.
2. DK's dopey ass walked on over to the fan and put himself into this situation willingly.

The NFL doesn't care about like punishments even when the situations are the same or similar. They don't even call stuff on the field consistently. They can rightfully point to very clear cut distinctions between what Jackson did and what Metcalf did.

Myles Garrett lied his ass off about getting called that word to justify swinging a helmet at a Steeler.

Take the homer glasses off for a moment and realize that the same is actually possible with Metcalf.

And even if the bozo fan *did*I use that word, and I struggle to buy that story because this fan was surrounded by fans of both teams who almost certainly would have supported Metcalf's version of events by this point, Metcalf is the one who put himself in the position for it to happen by approaching said fan.

Beyond that, no nasty word justifies Metcalf swinging on the dude. Top it all off, it was just dumb given what he stood to lose from doing so. Metcalf has to control himself in that situation or, better yet, just don't approach said fan to begin with. Nothing good was going to come out of it.

I didn't lose any respect for Metcalf here, for the record. If I have any respect for a pro athlete I don't actually know, it's for what they can do on the field and my opinion of him is unchanged in that regard. As a football player and I can only speak to him as a football player, he's fairly selfless.

But the guy has *alwas* been a hothead on the field and that clearly extended to semi-off the field here. Given what he has to lose here and given the reality that the fan almost certainly instigated this stupidity, I don't inherently begrudge him if he exaggerates. "He’s been receiving threats via voicemail and electronic messages, and he’s in fear for his personal safety and his family’s," Head said.

Last season, Head said Metcalf, then with the Seattle Seahawks, reported Kennedy for misconduct from the stands. It was investigated by both teams.

"Again, there was no misconduct found by Mr. Kennedy last year either," Head said.

In terms of next steps, Kennedy’s attorneys say they’re exploring their options.
