Pour one out for all the middle age and up to boomer white guys who hate Trump who have to pretend to like whatever genre of music Bad Bunny makes to save face.

Yep. You can't grow up liking good music then suddenly pivot to Reggaeton in a different language just to virtue signal. No one is fooled.

In a dramatic twist that has rocked the music industry and Puerto Rican politics alike, Puerto Rican superstar Bad Bunny is now entangled in a political storm involving Venezuela's Nicolás Maduro regime. The controversy stems from allegations that Rimas Entertainment, the label behind Bad Bunny's meteoric rise, received a staggering $2 million from the Venezuelan government to boost its operations.
The claims were made by Nina Valedón Santiago, a former secretary of Puerto Rico's Popular Democratic Party (PDP), who has called for an FBI investigation into these alleged transactions. Valedón's accusations suggest that such foreign investments might compromise Puerto Rico's political integrity and democracy by channeling funds through influencers and artists

Gotta love Tomlin taking Gonzalez off the draft board after what he deemed a poor visit.
Tomlin apparently went so far as to tell Minkah that Gonzalez lacked the "competitive edge" to be a Steeler.
Sure looked competitive to me breaking up all those passes in a game called the SUPER BOWL.
Good call, Mike.

Maye was so flustered most of the night he could not throw. They had oppertunities but he was off on too many passes.

Didn't care for the music either, but I'm 51. I'm sure the younger generation liked it along with the over 600 million Spanish speaking people that this was directed towards.
I watched like 1 minute of it and had enough, but I will say that most of the female dancers were very sexy so there was that.
I find most female dancers to be very sexy…with the exception of Ozempic ads!Stlcrtn1974 wrote: ↑Mon Feb 09, 2026 2:00 pmDidn't care for the music either, but I'm 51. I'm sure the younger generation liked it along with the over 600 million Spanish speaking people that this was directed towards.

i thought brandi carlile did a great job
and bad bunny was OK
all the SB shows try a little too hard anymore to be the "greatest" and end up being a bit too much

We got a live one over here.!
I suppose you may be honest here Gonzo, but I suspect you don't really think Bad Bunny's "music" was even "ok." It's actually perfectly OK to say that it isn't made for you and it didn't work for you.
Rihanna didn't do that much, but thought her half time show was pretty good. Just did her songs and had the right swagger.
The last truly great half-time show was maybe Prince's show. The best I can remember was U2's but probably doesn't hit the same way unless you were alive for 9/11.
I think they ought to get rid of future half time shows.
Gonzalez almost single-handedly kept the Patriots in the game for three quarters.bradshaw2ben wrote: ↑Mon Feb 09, 2026 4:19 amWill Campbell is in fact that bad. This is not political, it's musical.
I don't agree with Billie Jo Armstrong on anything, but Green Day performed well at the intro.
If they wanted a talented Puerto Rican who could have put on a show, they should have hired Lin Manuel Miranda.
And I don't agree with his politics either.

your suspicions would be wrong
the music was OK -- i didnt hate it but as I said I dont like the over-indulgent productions
green day was good as was brandi carlile
they may have been good IMO because they were simple music - and not overdone shows

I did not care about Bad Bunny because it was not targeted at me. My kids likes it. I made some good wings and I enjoyed the game.

Varbel handshake was a sign of a poor looser
Err, Mike Vrabel is 50, on his second team now and until this miracle run in a badly depleted AFC had a lower playoff win percentage than our current coach. Let's not throw out the re-tread coach with the bathwater. (And so we're clear - yes, I'd rather have Vrabel than McCarthy)TimmayLake wrote: ↑Mon Feb 09, 2026 3:25 amToo bad coward Rooney wouldn’t hire an innovative young coach instead of a double retread 60 year old.
Also, a lot of these so-called stud prospects didn't land cush jobs either.Flores is back with the Vikes. For all the frenetic dry-rubbing here and in the media Scheelhause nor Shula got a legit HC offer from any of the available teams. It sure seems like a lot of the jizz lobbing over the younger guys this cycle might have been misplaced and they needed more seasoning. In fact, I'm surprised the board narrative hasn't shifted to how Tomlin fucked us by leaving a year earlier than planned so some of these younger assistants would be ready to poach. (I'm sure we'll get to it eventually.)
Maybe the Rooney's panicked a little, for sure it's a conservative choice, maybe they should have at least talked to Kubiak, but I can see getting a decent HC in and building a new (and bigger) staff to get to work on retooling this roster and prepping for an important draft is a good thing instead of praying you have more money than Las Vegas and risk being behind the 8-ball in the off-season.

Outside the Neocons who aren't even really "conservative", I don't know of anyone on the right side of the political spectrum who would shed a tear over Puerto Rico no longer being our burden.Dan Smith--BYU wrote: ↑Mon Feb 09, 2026 9:54 pm"The only political statement i caught was using the PR flag for indepentance"

The entire performance being in Spanish and his selection in the first place were political. Not much else to say on it. I don't care about Bad Bunny whatsoever. If I have any ire to direct, it's at Goodell and his minions who thought this was a good choice.
But yea that music is terrible to my white ears.
Maybe. But there's performative, and then there's profit. And the NFL is all-in on international expansion, because frankly they're ruining the game for fans that made the league what it is today.
I keep hearing people repeat this, but I don't even view it as a good business decision. I'm aware people are saying Bad Bunny is the largest musical act in the world right now. It seems like Hispanic music "stars" have broader appeal in that culture.
Is Bad Bunny really popular in Europe? That's the second largest global audience and where they seem interested to bringing the game in the future first and foremost. A quick Google search shows that he is least popular there to not at all popular in the places that have hosted games (UK and Germany). He seems popular in Spain.
The international audience is a fraction of the American audience, and I'm going to wager if we looked at demos there's not much overlap in football and Bad Bunny fans. Now, the half time show is more about (at least in my view) the people who wouldn't watch the game if it wasn't an event. The wives, girlfriends, and you know the gays in general I suppose. T/hey haven't cared about having a half time show aimed at fat middle aged white guys for a while even if they are the bedrock of NFL fandom along with black men.
Are young white and black kids really listening to Bad Bunny/Latin music or whatever this is? I couldn't even say, but I'm skeptical. They may have very different tastes in music than I do, I don't think this is it.
Are Bad Bunny fans really tuning into this game just to see him perform for ~20-25 minutes? I'd personally just turn the game on when he was supposed to be on and turn it off after myself if I wasn't interested in football but cared about that.
I believe the idiots who run the NFL sold themselves on this being a good business decision even if it DID create a lot of divisiveness and in a more toxic way than normal half time shows have. But that doesn't make it true.
And I'd say the same for most of the NFL's "business" decisions. The NFL succeeds despite Goodell's foolishness. Not because of it. I know the owners disagree with me and like to credit him for the ever growing pot of TV and now streaming money, but it has little to do with anything Goodell has personally done.

I'm confused. Apparently the lyrics are about Puerto Rico leaving the US but also about stopping ICE to keep people in the US.
Make up your mind already.
In the end, this was Roger Goodell's epic fail at reading the zeitgeist and trying to be a cool dad.
If the NFL really wanted to get eyeballs from Europe, they'd book Dua Lipa or Rita Ora or someone like that.
Or even Steve Aoki.

Why do you care who a stranger thanks? It’s their moment, not yours. And what a pleasure it was to hear from players and coaches who weren't thanking Jesus left and right... In fact, I didn't hear a single mention.
