Man, I ended up picking Iaone, too. Dude is a popular guy. Or do we just all want to hear the boos and sell the team chants when they pick a guard in R1?

I thought that when I did a run. Simpson was there but I would not pull that trigger. I ended up trading down, picking up a 2027 2nd and drafted K. McDonald

The ratio of cheers to boos if they draft Simpson in the first would amount to a de facto IQ test for Steeler nation.

I heard they updated it so you can actual tender your RFA and ERFA. I was getting pissed off when one of my RFA turned down my offer.

I like it but you gotta go OG earlier if not resigning Sem.

Yeah, It get tricky. You are either drafting Iaone at 21 or moving up in the 2nd for Emmanuel Pregnon or Chase Bisontis. sometimes I have picked Durker in the 2nd but he was not there this time.

Although Semu can hold the position for a little bit for Rutledge who would be starting mid season at the latest.

Thinking OG is a first round position is a roster building trap, and one the Steelers have fallen into more than once. There might be a truly first round worthy pure OG once every 5 years. You could honestly, with apologies to our team's beloved heritage at the position, say the same for OC and just make it all IOL. Those positions on the line are what coaching is for. It's possible we might have some of that now. Now, thinking it'd take a first round pick to replace Seumalo? Sheesh. Just move Jones inside and draft a tackle the top 50. There are some interesting prospects there.

Rutledge seems fine at this point. I might change opinion after the combine, but they’ll be as many guys getting bumped up as bumped down.
1) BPA
2) Probably CB the way things loom like they will break
3) IOL/LB/S
Further: BPA BPA BPA

Ioane was BPA in my draft so it wasnt a need fill.

DeCastro and Pouncey would disagree with your assessment of 1st round OL importance.

His tape is great and he would solve a lot of problems and would be sweet leading Warren.

2008 IOL might have been the worst in team history, and i have as many rings as pouncey and decastro, but certainly quality iol has worked well for the chiefs recently.

2020 Ben or 2026 Rodgers or Mason or Howard behind that 2008 OL would be a disaster.

Gotta remember 2008 was a inside straight because of the two miracle SB plays as well as the Brady injury.

I think if you don't sign Seumalo, Broderick gets first look at LG. And it would shock me if they didn't sign a vet OL who could be at least a spot starter/placeholder for a rookie. Also, you could probably line up several rookie RTs, move Fautanu to LG. They should have some options so they don't necessarily have to go G in top 2 rounds.

i would re-sign either/both, but Pierre is turning 30 and ASJ has never been good. So still need to draft a starting capable CB, just with those guys we could hope he doesn’t need to start as a rookie.

But more i was looking at the board and i expect 1st round grade CBs will be on the board at our 2nd rounder. Along with 4th round grade WRs.

I think if you don't sign Seumalo, Broderick gets first look at LG.

Broderick is a sunk cost, like an experimental drug that failed in clinical trials for a pharma company or a girlfriend who makes your free time more like another job.

Best to move on.

The issue with moving Fautanu is still LT. The is draft is fairly deep at IOL so I would take a OG no later than the 3rd and sign a vet to start until they are up to speed. CB, WR and OG are the needs of the draft. WR could be handled in Fa but that would be a large amount of money tied up in WR. There are better possibilities at WR in FA then either OG or CB.

B. Jones would be a waste at OG as he is not big enough and does not have any sand in his pants to stop a bull rush. He either makes it at LT or they move on with Cook and still need depth.

The problem with the argument of Pierre being 30 is that Dylan Cook is at least 28 and can Heyward is 40. Just saying every position group needs to get some younger worth, minimum.

I think it's a great draft but you have to be a bit choosier and dig a little deeper. Other than QB, there are dudes.
