FA starting what needed and expected
I think Omar will get out to a fast start in FA. I think they will target one position and go for it. I just not sure it be even though WR is the big need. I think we might see a safety or Guard or Nickel CB

It's the Steelers: they will start by signing back their own players if they want them. Pierre would be a big signing, Seumalo will depend on if the new staff wants him, and Gainwell will depend on if Kenny wants to return.
In addition, there are some contracts to clear up: JPJ likely gets a big deal, Herbig is a big question mark, Asante Samuel Jr's a FA
Then there are the players on bad contracts who could go:
Patrick Queen, Jalen Ramsey are two obvious ones, but Freiermuth and TJ Watt are not completely out of the question.
Then there's that man, Aaron Rodgers and whatever stringing along he does.

I expect a tier II wr, cb and a guard. A yawner if you will.
Don’t hold your breathe for a big splash signing. That was last years Fraudlin last stand.

How many WR does a West Coast offense like McCarthy typically keep on the roster? I would think a minimum of six?
Get best WR you can, either early in free agency or now with trade, plus another lower tier option in free agency. I’m assuming the only WRs back will be DK and maybe Roman Wilson, unless I’m forgetting someone (I assume Austin is gone). So it’s a two-pick need in the draft as well, with either the first or second pick almost being guaranteed to be a WR.

Not to be overly harsh, but I wouldn’t bet the farm DK is on the roster week 1. He’s not a great fit with a McCarthy offense. I’d like to see them completely turn over the WR room to guys they actually want running routes.Who Dee Knee wrote: ↑Sun Mar 08, 2026 9:31 amHow many WR does a West Coast offense like McCarthy typically keep on the roster? I think they make a play for Doubs.
I think that may be tied to resigning grandpa Rodgers.
I would like to see them replace Queen with a much younger possibly cheaper candidate.
Queen/Harrison are both bottom tier at this point in their careers.
This is assuming the plan is to run the same style 34 defense.
As B2B mentioned they will likely start with their own pending F/A group.
Do they resign Seumalo? Gawd, I hope not. Will they look at F/A for a gap stop and/or draft a left guard?
Cook is likely top of the list. If not a replacement for Jones who may not return at least a solid backup.
Gainwell is a close second depending on the F/A market for him and how much money he wants.
Perhaps some ‘Extensions’ are done for JPJ and Herbig maybe even Frazier and McCollum.
Do they resign Corliss Waitman? Or do they look to sign a younger someone else?
Will they extend or cut Kuntz and sign Adomitis a younger cheaper option?
A lot of questions going into the 26 season.

I’ve been pining for Jauan Jennings and Leo Chenal
Jaquan Brisker is another want but his concussion/injury history has me pumping the brakes
Zion Johnson feels too expensive but OL will need assets thrown at it
My yearly free agent wants rarely match up with cheap A$$ Rooney so I’m going try to keep my emotions in check when they simply do their usual hole patching as was the case with their big out of the gate signing ASJ.
Good grief
I want a new owner so damn bad

Cole Holcomb, 2 years $5Mm

Not surprising really, but it sounds like James Pierre is a goner. Big props to him and hopefully he gets a big payday (and a nice comp pick value for the formula going into 2027 in the event we don't sign the same amount or more of qualifying FAs as we'll lose, which appears less likely this offseason compared to last year).
*roots for losses*
Samuel on a one year contract?
Alec Pierce just got 4 years, 116 million. FA WR might be pricier than I thought it'd be.
Kenny Walker to the Chefs.

Nothing left to do but smile, smile, smile...
I would resign James Pierre and NOT extend JPJ
Absolutely no reason to spend $30+MM for a corner that cant play the ball and is consistently one of the worst when it comes to collecting penalties.
You have one more season of Porter on the field. he'll be playing for a contract, so Im sure he'll do well
Meantime, draft at least 2 corners

For those worried, scratch Malik Willis off the list.

Bye Bye Gainwell.
Bucs…2 years $14m.

A functional pair of starting WRs should lessen the impact of that loss, though I liked Gainwell.

Pretty nice deal, for both sides.
While I've been a big fan of Warren for a long time, I think Gainwell was a little better. But I guess that's the economics - that other guy (such a bust can't even remember his name) is going to have to earn his draft status now.
Kaleb Johnson. I’m gonna blame the Cool Shades doghouse…so fingers crossed..Kodiak wrote: ↑Mon Mar 09, 2026 5:23 pmPretty nice deal, for both sides.

Doesn't the Gainwell signing net us a compensatory pick?
I don’t think it’s as simple as that.Steelafan77 wrote: ↑Mon Mar 09, 2026 5:49 pmDoesn't the Gainwell signing net us a compensatory pick?
