He was consistently able to get past the LOS and was 1st hit 2-3 past the LOS. A good portion of the time it was 5yds past. JC wasn't great tonight but he was solid. The fact that they played around with Green as C all season was a detriment not only to Ben but to the whole offense as a whole.drmalba wrote: ↑Tue Jan 04, 2022 5:29 amFucking physical. I’d say that was JCs best run blocking game of his career. He hasn’t played a lot of games.

It's this innovation called "zone defense". It's not the scheme/playcall, it's the shitty coverage players.

The first one to DJ went right through his hands.. so fast that it looked like an overthrow. The later 2nd down throw to DJ was an overthrow... probably no laces slip.

Claypool fell to the ground. I know it's hard to believe because he never goes to the ground... but it's true. Best guess? Ben was already throwing to Claypool and he saw 11 fall down as he was releasing the ball... threw it away.Professor Half Wit wrote: ↑Tue Jan 04, 2022 3:37 amIDK WTF happened on that total out to lunch throw in the last trip to the RZ. He is barely a starter caliber QB. I feel like they need to trade him for a fifth and start over at QB position. But after years of futility, I bet they end up going into the season with him playing on a "prove it" deal.

So what is it about these Steelers and the Jekyll and Hyde play throughout the season? What was the difference from a week ago?
1 Was it playing at home and the shear emotion of Ben's last home game?
2 Was it the new center?
3 Was it the new OL coach?
4 Was it play calling?
5 Was it the OL blocking better?
6 Was it Najee deciding to run forward instead of left or right?
7 Was it the defense that decided to stop the run?
8 Was it Watt and Co. wanting to sack Mayfield?
9 Was it because it was MNF?
10 Was it Tomlin and coaches?
11 Was it the Browns?
12 Is it all of the above?
Why can't they play balanced games more often? Next week is going to be a blood bath. I hope they can play a balanced game and extend this winning streak to 2 and finally get a road victory since Halloween which happened to be these very same Browns.

The offensive line blocked marginally better, and Najee had a big night, but the offense was not leaps and bounds better last night.
For much of the game it was the same piece of shit offense it had been the previous 15 games.
One TD and four FGs…those FGs mostly coming on short fields.
If the Browns hadn’t sucked worse on offense so that the Steelers could actually be ahead, it would have been just as unwatchable a game as many others have been.
The offense was only a slightly less smelly piece of shit last night.

Oh and this “more balanced offense” struggled all night to move the ball against a Browns’ defense that was depleted at several key positions.
Take off the rose colored glasses. It was great to get a win in Ben’s last home game, but it was NOT a massive improvement on offense.
It was pretty much more of the same.

You could see in Ben’s face and demeanor that he knew he misfired on that pass.
And he did.
Ben is the greatest QB this team has ever had and I will always be grateful for him getting us two more Lombardis and treating us to dynamic play no other QB could have given us.
But he definitely is diminished in ability…has been ever since the surgery (plus he can’t move around anymore).
Both can be true.
I blame Tomlin and the brain trust for not recognizing that and surrounding him a a truly shitty cast of characters for his send off season…I guess somehow hoping that Ben could perform miracles one last time.
Ben deserved better for his swan song than what the braintrust provided him.
Denver complemented a diminished Peyton Manning with a kick ass defense, a very good OL and some key players on O so he could go out a champion.
The Steelers gave Ben three rookies and the worst offensive lineman from the previous year, and no good skill players. The defense had a shot to be championship-caliber, but once it took some key injuries there was no depth.
Team failure from top to bottom ruined what should have been a much nicer send off.

Anyone who watched the game last night and thinks that’s a competent, Super Bowl run-worthy offense doesn’t watch much football. Wonderful send off to Ben but we are now in rebuild mode. And we better start modernizing or 8-8-1 will continue to be “the standard”.
