I watched EVERY off-ball LB in this draft down to about 450 on the rankings. I watched a few others below that who happened to catch my eye. I saw very few who could cover and play the run effectively.
This player led his team in tackles for 4 seasons-- in the best conference. He set the school record for INTs and, more importantly, he plays the run so much better than many more highly rated LBs-- incredibly, actually, considering he's a little light by LB standards. He rarely gives ground on a tackle, he stands up blockers with good hand usage and leverage... and yet he's clearly a coverage specialist.
We're thrilled he's still available here-- had him targeted from the beginning of the draft as a player we coveted.
