Miami offering 4th, 6th, 7th round picks for a 3rd
Patriots offering 4.120 and 4.139
Should be worth a pick in the 90-95 range.

The Raiders are very happy with their draft so far.
- 3 day 1 starters and very likely a strong push for package snaps from another.
- The Raiders see 4 likely C2 players so far
- All 4 are position/scheme versatile and could easily end up as the best at their positions in the league
- 4 players perfectly suited to beat AFC West opponents

3.90 is up for trade
Vikings had a lot of problems to address this offseason, CB/DT/OG/EDGE/S etc.
We’ve now added Dalvin Tomlinson, Patrick Peterson, and David DeCastro in FA/trades, allowing us to go after Rousseau and Cisco as special talents in this class that happened to be BPAs at other positions of need.

I think it was a good trade for both sides. Steelers free enough enough cap to add a nice player or two, and it’s at least 50/50 whether DeCastro is in decline or can regain his form from before 2019-20.Mick wrote: ↑Mon Mar 29, 2021 12:08 amVikings had a lot of problems to address this offseason, CB/DT/OG/EDGE/S etc.

I asked 3 people whose opinion I trust whether I should take the deal and the responses ranged from “definitely” to “oh yeah!”

You know what’s weird, @ol skool... I’m a little surprised the Steelers haven’t done anything with Decastro’s contract AND they added a starter-capable guard without announcing it yet. It made me wonder if they are at least considering moving him. The Patriots would—sell before the decline is confirmed.

After drafting McNeill the Pats are still looking to move into Round 3 once again.

Pabst and the Buffalo Bills kindly send their compatriots the New York Jets and @FC a big bag of dicks. Enjoy!
A 31-year-old guard on a one year deal with his cap hit? Probably another Nelson situation where they would just cut him. Doubt anyone would offer to trade for him at this point, even if they got DeCastro to agree to re-work his contract to let the Steelers take on more dead money and lessen the cap hit for the team taking him on.bradshaw2ben wrote: ↑Mon Mar 29, 2021 12:17 amYou know what’s weird, @ol skool... Hello. Chicago is interested in trading 2 6th rounders for a 4th rounder. Anyone interested?

Sorry I meant Rodney Hudson
Gabe Jackson has two years left on his current deal, DeCastro is just signed through 2021, same as Nelson was.tbsteel wrote: ↑Mon Mar 29, 2021 1:17 pmSame situation as Gabe Jackson, which was model for our trade termsbradshaw2ben wrote: ↑Mon Mar 29, 2021 12:17 am

That's a pretty huge difference in value in trading for two years of Gabe Jackson vs. one year of DeCastro. Jackson's cap hit is about a third less of DeCastro's and more workable as well. Maybe we'd get a conditional sixth or seventh for DeCastro, but that would be best case IMO and much more likely we'd just release him if they needed the cap relief.

Rodney Hudson. was the comp I was looking for. Also, you can keep Decastro for another year at that price... franchise tender is right around what he's making. And it's going to Tampa Bay, which is clearly in win-now mode.tbsteel wrote: ↑Mon Mar 29, 2021 1:56 pmGabe Jackson has two years left on his current deal, DeCastro is just signed through 2021, same as Nelson was.tbsteel wrote: ↑Mon Mar 29, 2021 1:17 pmSame situation as Gabe Jackson, which was model for our trade termsbradshaw2ben wrote: ↑Mon Mar 29, 2021 12:17 am

You're trading him for a year of Super Bowl contender v alue, plus either franchise rights or a certain high comp pick. It makes sense for a team like Tampa Bay who doesn't have time to get a rookie up to speed.bradshaw2ben wrote: ↑Mon Mar 29, 2021 2:06 pmRodney Hudson. was the comp I was looking for. Rodney Hudson is a bit older than DeCastro and it’s not obvious that two years left on contract for someone in their 30s is a huge advantage over one year. Among other things, i expect with one year left it shouldn’t be an issue working out a a voidable extension with DeCastro to get rid of his cap hit for this year; that ‘s a tougher negotiation with someone who has multiple years left.tbsteel wrote: ↑Mon Mar 29, 2021 1:56 pmGabe Jackson has two years left on his current deal, DeCastro is just signed through 2021, same as Nelson was.tbsteel wrote: ↑Mon Mar 29, 2021 1:17 pmSame situation as Gabe Jackson, which was model for our trade termsbradshaw2ben wrote: ↑Mon Mar 29, 2021 12:17 am

Anyway, Vikings had 10 picks and don’t expect more than maybe five draftees to make the 53. DeCastro is due for about 1M less than Hudson this year, which is also nice for cap purposes. And mostly it comes down to how you view the players; DeCastro’s been probowl and/or allpro the last six seasons. Vikings #1 need going into the draft may have been OG, and it’s hard to rely on rookie big men on either side of the line. Could always go with the Steeler Way of “sign a scrub, and hope a late round draft pick turns out to be a steal or usually just muddle through the season with awful play at that position”, but that’s not the Viking plan.
