1) He sounds like he is further along and doing better than Ben did when this happened to him
2) Playing this week likely comes down to whether he has a bone bruise (I've heard no such confirmation) and the severity. Seems like the typical DEEP bone bruise (not just Ben) is out 1 wk. No idea if that's just pain or because of injury risk.

Lots of bubble screens to make up for the drop off in talent at RB. AB gets lots of touches. Moore could be significant. See some pistol broke out too. Bryant being a Wallace like stretch threat will be like old times.

Hopefully the OL rises to the occasion and really stones the pass rush. That will be key to whether we see a lot more 4-wide or PIT max protects with Miller and Spaeth/Adams. Not sure what the other backs can bring in blitz pick-up. We could see 3-wide with Miller lined-up in the backfield in Bell's role in obvious passing situations (with Spaeth/Adams at TE).

not a bad idea, but Miller is too damn slow to be a check down threat

I like Archer in that role as a pass catcher/threat -- but he is fucking horrible as a blocker

He's there mainly because the others can't get it done in blitz pick-up. He won't rip-off the big check downs Bell does, but 4-5 yards gets the job done. And don't forget about Spaeth at TE in that set - he's made plays in the passing game before.

All about giving Ben and the receivers time to do their work.

I think the bolded is precisely what we'll see, but without Spaeth and definitely without Adams in the game.

I still think Bell plays, but I could see them lightening his workload as a precaution. I'd think Harris would be the candidate for most of the carries out of base formations with Archer getting more work when they're in shotgun.

I would like to see Josh Harris in that role too --

He's a big guy -- he should be able to block?

Can he catch?

He has nice speed - we saw that in the Bungles game...

I just wish he didn't need on-the-job-training in an AFC North playoff game to answer all these questions...

Honestly don't think we NEED Le'Veon Saturday but things get more and more encouraging by the day that he'll be ready should we win and move on.

Encouraging!!!

Something tells me this kid's not going to miss this game.

Did he play in any REALLY big bowl games at Michigan State? They never contended for the national championship. This kid wants to win, and opposed to the bedwetters (you know who you are) thinking that he should be advised not to play as he'll regret it later....I think Le'Veon doesn't want to look back on his career and regret NOT playing in this game.

Was always going to be Saturday except if we had somehow tied Cincy and then would have had to play them in the WC round.

Couldn't be helped. We are on a short week but Cincy would have been on a short week two successive weeks had it been the other way around.

Odd thing is that if Baltimore hadn't lost to Houston, they would have been #5 seed at Indy, probably on Saturday, and we would have played Cinci for 3rd time in 5 weeks, probably on Sunday.

Dale Lolley and Jason LaCanfora are both saying they doubt Bell will play?

I expect at least 150 yards from scrimmage and 3 TDs from Bell on Saturday.

exactly -- those guys are perfect contrary indicators

My hope is that Bell CAN play, but is held out (but active) and see if we can succeed w/o him. If we need a spark, bring him in.

On another note, I liked that Heath and Antonio have been in Bell's ear keeping him calm.

Bell seems like the kind of guy that will push it trying to get back...if he is going to be back by game time, he has to make sure he doesn't try too hard right at the beginning.

I am really encouraged by all the signs of the veteran leadership IC has reminded us many times is so important.

And it doesn't have to be the demonstrative kind like Joey Porter used to provide...just good old fashioned common sense and good examples.

Speaking of Peezy....kind of funny to see him get in between Tomlin & Reggie Nelson on Sunday night.....the Peacemaker.

I don't think Bell dresses unless he's starting.

Ok, I'm not sure if it was mentioned anywhere else but,

That mother fucker Reggie Nelson that hit Bell, did anyone think it was a low blow? I know the announcers kept commenting along with players etc about that's how you have to hit in todays NFL. I think that's bullshit. He fucking lunged right at his knee. Had plenty of time to adjust his target a little higher etc.

Anyone else think it was a low blow like I did?

Secondly, the reason that fucker went low..........because on the first or second play from scrimmage in the game, Bell lowers his shoulder and drops the BOOOM on that fuck Nelson. Laid him right out. That's why he went low. Not sure if it was payback or that fuck just didn't want any part of getting ran the fuck over again.

absolutely a cheap shot
absolutely a legal hit in today's nfl

but he absolutely was looking to hit Bells knee -- and probably intended the exact harm that he did in fact cause
he did the same exact thing to Gronk

Seriously, if Nelson were a Steeler we would have loved it.

It was a text book tackle. I would bet every defensive coach in the NFL instructs DBs to go low...especially 1 on 1 with a 220 LBS RB.
