For once in this playoff run the Pens responded to the physicality early in the game. I think Malkin has had enough. Started with the Jackets, then the caps, and now the sens. The hit on rust appeared borderline to me, but it's clear opponwnnrts have the intent to hurt and punish. If the pens are going to be manhandled, they better at least score in PP.

We'll see how many calls they get in Ottowa and how much time the pens will be spending in the box if they bring the same physicality. They need to continue to hit hard and hold their checks.

Pens PP needs to score, but hats off to sully and this teams' resolve. Never count them out. I'm hoping the playoff pressure and the pens not folding injury after injury will eventually get into ottowa's heads, but either way, this series is going to seven.

Pens in 5.

They have it figured out. Anderson isn't stealing 3 games.

Yep...first thing that popped into my head as it happened...broken collarbone/separated shoulder. Especially the way he was carrying his arm going off. Not good!

Speaking of NBCSN...is anyone else sick of the continuous circle jerk by the booth mooks over Karlson? I mean, I know he's an outstanding player, but these guys act like he's the "second coming" or something! "And you should see him walk on water!"

I thought both hits on Rust and Schultz were clean. Agreed on the broken collarbone prognosis.

And NBC does that with EVERY STAR, including Sid. Gets annoying. I'd love to hear about some other fucking players too. I always watch CBC/Canadian broadcast when given the choice. They're a bit pro Senators but it's better than the shitshow NBC puts on anyday

Yeah, I understand that they promote the stars...and rightfully so. That normally doesn't bother me, I get that there are two teams in every show. It just seems they are going over the top with the Karlson love. Maybe it's just me.

For whatever its worth, Schultz is day-to-day and is traveling with the team to Ottawa. Ditto for Rust and Hornqvist

Sullivan: Schultz, Hornqvist day to day with upper body injuries. Rust same, also being evaluated. All on plane that leaves for Ottawa at 2

So no concussion for Rusty, which is great news.

My guess is that he plays.

Any news on Horny or Schultz?

Any bets on whether this series goes 5, 6, or 7 games?

Predictions?

Both are traveling with the team to Ottawa, which (hopefully) indicates that neither injury is too serious. Given the way the NHL reports on injuries, we should know more around 7:55 PM tomorrow.

This is good news. Most likely means they got minor medical maintenance this morning and the medical staff cleared them afterwards for some work. Doesn't mean they are a go tomorrow but it doesn't look like this is season ending or something that is going to linger.
Then again Letang looked like he was going to be ready for the playoffs.

Sully won't. But if Rusty is out, he should put Sprong in. Talent trumps experience when it comes to scoring lines. I believe Sprong would be a good Top 9 winger right now.

So is Schultz. Lets hope we get at least one of them back tonight.

What about Hornqvist? Any updates on him?

Got on the plane.

Horn, Rust, Schultz out, day to day; Daley, Streit gametime decisions.

Horny must be dead to miss 2 straight playoff games

My guess Streit draws in. I don't think Daley is really close

I'd be surprised as shit if they split in ottowa with all these injuries. I don't know how they are going to manage without Horny, Schultz, Letang, and Daley out.

Will be something to watch. . .

Ummm, maybe exactly like they did last game when they mostly controlled play with those exact same guys out?

There's going to be a big push from Ottawa, on home ice, with their season at risk-- and and near psycho push in game 4, should they lose game 3. Going to be very tough to sweep them.

It was one game at home. We'll see how they do in Ottowa. The sens will adapt, and hopefully so will the pens.

A lot of bedwetting going on about a team that has won six playoff series in a row all of which were against better teams than Ottawa.

Yup. All that wing flapping increases your heart rate, therefore increasing the pressure in the brain.

Rim shot.

I'll be here all week.
