I thought we were going to be robbed by the rule that the ball is down as soon as the QB dives forwarded.

Is that a new rule? Thought that only applied when the QB slides. Don't think the dive forward rule applies when the QB is a runner.

I believe it is a rule. There might be a stipulation for goal line or behind the LOS, but if you are a QB and dive in the open field, the ball is down where you start the dive and where the ball is. You get zero slide if the field is slippery. That is my understanding. Always wondered how it worked on the goaline or QB sneaks.

I guess you have to be deemed giving yourself up which would not include a goal line play.
