The million dollar question is whether Ben has too much control over the offense, or if Haley is just too dumb to overcome.

Ben has more control over this offense than any QB in the league, maybe even more than Pey-Pey had. Most here consider Haley to be a dolt. The failures don't have to be mutually exclusive, but something needs to change.

And Ben was damn good tonight. He got little help from the coaches or his players. He really had nothing to do with losing tonight.

Let me review all of the heart-wrenching AFCCG losses we've endured and get back to you.

I REALLY hated losing to SD at home.

hell no..worse where the home loses in afc champ games..cowhers specialty

Yeah, losing at home hurt worse because I expected to win.

This frustrates me all the more.

I would have been upset, but not crushed, if we had come with a sound game plan but still lost but New England outplayed us. That happens, and you say kudos.

But we didn't even try. We weren't even a speed bump.

Did our coaches do ANYTHING this week to prepare?

How many times do they have to do the same things over and over and have them fail against the Pats...only to drag them out again and hope for something different?

This makes this the worst loss of all the many AFCCGs.

Because we didn't even try.

I never in 1000 yrs would I have thought this would be their gameplan. I'm literally stunned.

Unfortunately it's not shocking at all.

I knew where Tomlin's head was today when he dressed Tousaint over Ayers.

While that didn't impact the game per se, it does put his poor decision making on display.

The offensive & defensive game plans are both chalked full of poor decisions.

It must be deflating, as a player, to be handcuffed and re-live a raping every time you play them.

We overachieved. Our defense is way too young and our passing options took a big hit with the alien suspension and Green concussion issue.

Focus on the positives. Ben has 3-4 good years left. We are in great position to get another 1 or 2. Heyward is coming back to pair with Tuitt and Hargrave. Shazier and Dupree seem to be solid starters. We have a couple secondary guys who are worth keeping around. Our line isn't going anywhere and our receivers have another year to mature.

It sucks, but honestly this is better than what I had hoped coming into the season.

I disagree. This year was winnable. They may have lost today, but the coaching and gameplan was a total fail. I'm a Tomlin fan, but this loss is 100% on his shoulders. Just pathetic. So disappointed.

I am singing off
I can't believe I thought they would play differently this time
I should know better by now
That was one of the worst prep/plan/coaching jobs I have ever seen from this team

They really just played, from the start in foxboro against the pats, just happy t be here and hold on.
That was the most gutless game plan pre and in game I have seen

Tomlin and Butler had 5.5 days to sit back in zone all day against Brady, realizing it has never, ever worked but still never adjusted. Even at halftime Tomlin said well continue doing what were doing. It makew no sense.

agreed. PIT was a Super Bowl favorite at the beginning of the year. They were picked to win the AFC North--and they barely did. This was not some rebuilding year. There were many who picked them to win the SB

This more than anything is what the problem is with our coaching staff on O and D.

You know what's worse?

Bell had to get hurt before we saw even this level of offensive attack that we saw.

I am almost 99% certain it would have been the same game plan as Kansas City had Bell not gotten injured.

Watching the Penguins and Steelers - it's refreshing to see the Pens win because of a combination of philosophy and talent. Coach Sullivan puts players in a position to succeed.

The contrast to this Steelers coaching staff - night and day. They don't have a clue with what to do with the talent on the team.

Oh.

It mattered.

A lot.

TD passes were dropped by Coates and Hamilton.

Early.

Changed the game completely.

Issues for tonight IMHO

Shitty defensive game plan - played into Pats strengths. Not to mention leaving receivers uncovered.

Offensive execution (dropped passes, etc.)

O-Line was manhandled at times.

Frankly, the Steelers lacked a true #2 threat. AB was doubled. NOBODY else really stepped up.
Bell was neutralized and injured. Rest of the "skill" players were inadequate at best.

The blunder was dressing Tousaint.

We could have all-worlders at every position, and Haley would have still fucked this game away.

New England proves year after year you don't need world beaters...you just need guys that are coached real well to do the job they are supposed to do in the game plan.

Tomlin signs off on this bullshit.

Unless he spends all week flipping a coin to see who gets the last hat.
