Why are the TEs the Steelers manage to find always made of tissue paper?

Jaylen Samuels stems to the outside before bursting up the middle and beating Jon Bostic for the catch.
McKever has a step on Keion Adams down the right seam. But Adams works hard and rips the ball out as McKever tries to bring it to his hip. Incomplete.
Decent jam by Adeniyi on Scotland-Williamson. Incomplete.
Samuels and Thomas run downfield along the right sideline. Maybe the throw was bad, or an incorrect route run, but Thomas with a pretty easy INT.
Thomas with a nice jam and then reaches his hand across to break up the in-cut throw for Samuels.
Toussaint has a step on Bostic downfield but the pass seemed a little far in front. Incomplete.
McKever swims over Adams, running vertically. Nice hands catch to finish the rep.
CSW runs through Adeniyi’s jam. Clean catch.
Samuels rips through Thomas. Beats him vertical but the pass is overthrown.
Bad exchange between Maurkice Pouncey and Mason Rudolph. Rudolph falls on it.
Rudolph heaves deep down the left sideline for Damoun Patterson. One of the top plays of camp, Burns – and I still don’t know how he did it – head barely turned trying to stay with Patterson, throwing up his right hand, cradling the ball into his chest as he’s in the air, and secures it to the ground. Insane play.
Playaction. Sutton blitz. Samuels sees him and picks it up initially but opens up his inside shoulder and Sutton gets through.
Bullet over the middle from Rudolph to Washington on a 10 yard dig. Washington reaches over his head to pluck the football.
Rudolph complete to JuJu on an out route left side. Samuels picks up a blitzing Vince Williams.
Bostic, the most vocal man on the field
Keion Adams whoops Scotland-Williamson off the edge. Rudolph throws it away.
Steelers defense now has 17 INTs in camp. Buzzing around the football like crazy this year. Let’s hope it translates.

Sounds like Rudolph is working more with the 1s. Might see more of him Thursday although I get that Landry and Dobbs are essentially auditioning for the same role.
I think bostic gets better in this system. Big vacuum left by shaz but I like the bostic/ edmunds split the difference approach so far

Only problem with combining Bostic and Edmunds to replace one Shazier is any good QB/OC can trap one of them on the field with no huddle at will, exposing Bostic against the pass or Edmunds against the run.

That’s a problem with all packages. The other team doesn’t have to put out their worst personnel against it.
That’s why I think both will be 3 down players. They might play edmunds less early simply due to experience. But they’ll have to play him.
I think the real change will be with that Vince Williams role. Maybe he’s only on the field when they see heavier sets.

Unrelated, but Browns coach Hue Jackson just punished his rookie WR by making him publicly play longer for the Cleveland Browns. Remarkable awareness of his situation.

More
James Washington goes up over Joe Haden on a jump ball in the back corner. TD. Earlier did the same to Brian Allen. And then Marcus Tucker makes a nice grab for a score. #Steelers #dkps
Every day Washington has 1-2 of these. If this is his MO ...then just maybe some of the red zone issues will get better.

At least when nothing else is there, you can give the guy a shot. Imagine if we actually put the fade back into the playbook!
Honestly, the best jump ball guy Ben has had is probably.....wait for it......AB.

James Washington is legit. He’s gonna ball out this year.

The goddamn Frenchman is going to make this team again.

Realistically, he's maybe about 3rd right now, with Conner being a lock and Ridley looking good last game, in addition to being a vet himself, with Bell not even in camp. Samuels, in the real world, has more upside.
But Fitz is a cockroach.
This might be the year DHB goes, though. WR is looking reasonably deep, and they're not going to keep him just to deactivate him on Sundays.

I think normally might only dress 4, anyway. But DHB gets a hat for ST.
It would be really good if Patterson can take that gunner job. Then DHB leaves you an extra hat somewhere else.
