Steelers Linemen ‘Pissed’ With Bell: ‘Here’s A Guy Who Doesn’t Give A Damn’
Not that it happens often here, but I can't recall a Steelers team ever this vocal and pissed at a player doing the contract dance.
Let's hope he gets the message quickly, this drama needs to end and we will need Bell to compete.

More Ramon Foster on Bell: “He’s making 7 times what I make twice as much as Al (Villanueva) is making and we’re the guys who do it for him.”
3:54 PM - Sep 5, 2018
“At this point, man, honestly, it’s just a little selfish,” said center Maurkice Pouncey, an offensive captain along with quarterback Ben Roethlisberger this season. “I’m kinda (ticked) off right now. “It (stinks) that he’s not here.”
“Football is one of the most ultimate team sports,” Foster continued. “‘Pounce’ gave him a ‘we welcome you back’ the other day and still no show. For the guys that block for him up front, that’s kinda disheartening a little bit.
“This day and age, with everybody as selfish as they want to be, the ultimate team sport has turned into a little bit of an individual race.”
“At this point, go ahead and miss 10,” Pouncey said. “At this point, it’s cool, Conner’s ready, he’s been here busting his butt.

The worst part about it is the deceit and shadiness on Bell's part.
He let the team believe all along he would be showing up this week, just like last year, and then pulled the rug out from under everyone.
Fuck that. I've been a Bell supporter on here and defended him plenty in the past, but there's no defending this. He led everyone on, he's hurting the team, and this little hide-and-seek, will he or won't he show up and when, is completely childish.
I hope Conner runs for 150 at Cleveland.

And it can only get worse. I just hope there isn't a faction in the locker room trying to take his side. Not that I care if he has supporters, more power to him, but I don't like thinking of him dividing the team.
And once he does come back, how friendly of a reception should he get from the team? I mean, with the O Line already speaking out against him, if others applaud his coming back, doesn't it slap the O Line in the face?
Gonna be interesting, for sure.

It makes you wonder what kind of shape he's actually in, if he never planned to be here now.
Obviously he's not fat couch potato shape, but he could be carrying a few extra pounds and not have his conditioning where it needs to be. Very real possibility he shows up and isn't ready to see the field for 2 weeks (not to mention 3-4 more to play himself into game shape).
I hope PIT gets the exemption and sits his ass for two weeks costing him $1.6M. The guy is gone after this year - need to send a message and make an example of him.

Agreed. I'm all in favor of the Steelers doing whatever they can at this point to hurt the guy financially.

Nah, you're giving the guy credit for having a brain, like it was a premeditated maneuver.
He's digging more and more of a hole each day, and his barely 4 yards a carry with blazing speed will hopefull fetch him a deal in Buffalo or Oakland. Another year of wear and tear, or another injury, or him missing games is only gonna slow him down even more.
I would wonder if he thinks he can make it through another full season?

I had #2 overall this past Sunday and took Elliott over Bell without a 2nd thought. With the pass heavy offense we may be looking at, a flyer on Ben as a QB2 (I have him and Watson in a PPR) seemed like solid strategy as well.

I'd put my money on Bell making it through another full season over Conner making it through a full season.

20 games and 600 touches? I wonder if anyone could make it through that?
Haven't really considered that angle, and it wouldn't make him such a bad guy would it? They're going to run me into the ground, maybe I want to sit the first 4 games.
In Bell's defense, Tomlin has proven to be too stupid to understand keeping his RB fresh for the playoff run.

Screw Lev Bell.
What happens if the Steelers have a 4th and 1 vs N.E.
Bell gets the ball,is he more concerned about that 1 yard or not getting injured?
This O-Line is going to be out to prove a point!
This could really tighten this team

Love Pouncey saying this
Maurkice Pouncey also issued this reminder: "A star is born every year in the NFL. Did anyone know Kareem Hunt would be an All-Pro before last season? If James Conner didn't have cancer, he'd have been a first round pick. Just watch him." #Steelers

Maybe my favorite of all the sound bites of the day. Top two at least.
I also loved Foster saying Bell's spitting on 6.5 times what I make and twice what Al makes, and we're the ones opening up those holes, or words to that effect.

A source told ESPN that the Steelers have no plans to rescind Bell's tender, and league sources say a trade would be difficult to execute because of Bell's position and teams' unwillingness to inherit a franchise-tagged player.
http://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/2458 ... term-value
Whether we all like it or not Bell and his agent are in complete control of this situation. Nothing can be done until they do something.

Steelers gain almost 1 Million in cap space every week Bell doesn’t sign.

$852K and change. So does that buy the superbowl? Does that help set the precedence for the appropriate respectful way to go about contract negotiations? Between Mack and Bell this shit has gotten out of hand. I won't be surprised to see these type tactics in the future from the younger 'elite' players looking for their payday. Very concerning if your an owner.

When Ben, Bell and Brown are all on the field together, the Steelers are 41-19 over the past 4 seasons.
When ANY ONE OF THEM is missing, the Steelers are 15-12.
Bob Ryan is a motherfucking Pats homer, fuck him.
Did that jerkoff tell everyone the Steelers are 11-4 the last 3 seasons without Bell?

I mean they should have used the other tag that would have allowed us to match another team offer? They tried to do right by Bell only to be held hostage by bell

I'm not sure it would have mattered....who was going to pay Bell that kind of money AND give up two #1 picks?
I don't know if it would be tampering, but it seems to me all that would accomplish is competitors whispering unreal numbers to prevent a deal....."well, I'd give you $50M guaranteed....but two #1's is just too steep".

The league should threaten to retire him indefinitely for violation of the terms of the collective bargaining agreement; then the players association should lean heavily on him!
Contract is a contract.
Collective bargaining agreement is a group contract by which you establish individual contracts.
This is simply anarchy.
Show me a union that is out of control and I will show you a terrible management team. Show me a union that has no teeth and I will show you terrible union leadership.
I think the NFL has a nice balance and I think the ownership should lay down the law of the contract and/or collective bargaining agreement!

Giving up 2 first rounders for a running back who is now coming down from the mountain with knee injuries who has been suspended seems absolutely ludicrous, let’s be honest.
