This was from Molinari
@MolinariPG
GM Jim Rutherford says Tristan Jarry's recall does "not necessarily" mean Fleury and/or Murray will be unavailable when playoffs start.
4:14 PM - 10 Apr 2016
Who knows at this point, if we get Malkin, Rust and Maata back soon, and play like we did at the end of the season, we might be alright with Zatkoff until MAF and or Murray is back
We are the only team in the top ten in man games lost to injury to make the playoffs
Jarry hasnt been good recently in WBS, so lets hope that he's only up to have enough goalies for practice early in the week

MAF was concussed over a week ago? He continued to finish the game in which he was injured. What's the concussion protocol in Hockey?
Murray looked fine when he left, but they are being proactive and careful. He might require more than a few days, thus explaining the Jarry's call.
I'm guessing MAF starts, but how many goalies do the Penguins usually dress?

Teams usually keep 2 tenders around for game time and on the active roster. The Pens kept three pretty much from mid February on.
On an side note Datysuk is leaving the NHL at the end of the playoffs to go home(Russia). Very sad, one of the best players you could watch the past 10-12 years.

I think a lot of these Euro guys might play with a level of guilt at leaving their countries behind to come play in the NHL and feel a level of obligation to go back and play in front of their homeland's fans while they still have productive years left, especially Russians. I've never had a negative thought about Datsyuk. Class guy and amazingly skilled player with a top notch work ethic, one of the best in the history of the game. God speed to him.

I think he might also like to live in Russia. Some people and places have a lot of problems there (just like here) but maybe he misses it and family/friends. Quite easy to imagine.
Datsuk is great player and class act.

Looks like it'll be Pens-Rangers. Isles were up 2-0 in 1st period, now down 4-2 with 10 min. left.

Matt Murray, Marc-Andre Fleury, Olli Maata, Bryan Rust and Evgeni Malkin probably like this schedule just fine; as do I.

If they would've played this Fri (like any normal fucking league) I would've made it to Pittsburgh for the game. God what an ass backwards league

Whatever gives us the maximum rest for our goalies and stars, I'm in favor of. I get the arguments against, and normally I'd be with you, but for the first round, at least, I'd say this helps more than it hurts.

I like to think that since they aren't phased by being down 3 in the second period against the rangers, a few days off won't mentally change their attitude.
I hope.

Some encouraging photos of Flower skating and having pucks shot at him in practice today.

Yep, Fluery and Maatta both practiced today. That's obviously not a guarantee they'll play on Wednesday, but definitely comforting.

Yea I'm not sure we'll know much of anything today or tomorrow. I'm sure Wed morning we'll get a clear picture of who isn't playing. If I had to make a prediction, Malkin is back for Game 4

Been watching the Caps/Flyers contest. Goal tenders have really stood out. Two teams that hate one another and it shows on the ice.
Going to flip over Panthers.

Nice to see SJ get the Kings out of there. Hopefully the Blues can finish the job against Chicago.
I can't believe the Caps are letting Philly back into the series. I know Neuvirth gets all the credit for last night but looking at a few Caps boards the sentiment is that they aren't crashing the net and that all these shots they're putting on goal are just weak perimeter shots. I didn't see the game myself. If the Caps manage to blow this series it will be insane. I think I might actually feel bad for them this time.
I'm telling you guys, if you haven't yet........check out this Panthers/Isles series. There is some great hockey being played and IMO it's gotta be one of the top 2 series of the first round.

Those boards are out of their minds, but I understand the frustration ... We've seen this script before.
There were at least 4-6 grade A bonafide scoring chances for the Caps, at least two or three of them in the third period would have been goals in any other playoff series.
I'm telling you, no other team could pull off snatching defeat from the jaws of victory like last night other than the Caps. Nobody.
It was the hockey equivalent of that 2002 Houston-Pittsburgh game where we outgained them 426 yards to 47 and lost the game by 18 points.
The somehow is the somehow

Cannot believe the Panthers gave up that tying goal in the last minute with all those opportunities with the open net. Not sure they recover from that. Sat back to much in the last 10 minutes. Can't do that with a 1 goal lead.

I'm pulling for you and the Panthers, Cap. Nice to hear that you've been beneficiaries of the Cats efforts to grow the game, especially in a tough place like FL. doesn't hurt that I hate the Isles ...
Shit - as I'm typing that up the Isles won it. Sorry, man.

Yeah that sucks. Panthers were the better team much of the series but just couldn't get it past Griess. They had a nice surge there in double OT but couldn't close. Hopefully it'll be a learning experience for the young guys on the team. They'll be back. There's a kid on that team, Rocco Grimaldi, who hadn't played after game 2 and I felt like the team really could've used his motor the last two games when they were starting to look tired. That kid can fly.
I was hoping the Pens would find the Panthers in the playoffs somehow so I could get to a couple Pens playoffs games. Maybe next year.

And the Isles had the majority of chances in OT, just figured it was a matter of time.
I love Jagr (and Jussi) and I like what Fla is doing with their young guys. But the Panthers and Luongo never scared me. You know the type of athlete where you see him play and he's pretty good/solid and you are like "this guy is on the cusp of stardom". The guy who you felt always leaves you wanting more? Well that was Luongo's career...unbelievably consistent, flashes of pretty damn good but I never felt he was capable of stealing any series.
That Dallas/Minny game was insane yesterday...

I thought Luongo was pretty good overall. One thing about the Panthers that would've made it tough for opponents is that nobody would really have a speed edge on them. They can match wheels with anybody. But the youngsters on that team are clearly new to the beast of playoff hockey. Jagr sounded like a broken man after the game. Tavares built on his reputation this series. He was awesome.
I wonder if the Panthers might be a destination for Fleury if Murray pans out.

Fla probably thought Markstrom would develop and take over for Luongo. But yea I could see MAF playing for them. Will MAF accept a trade to that team? He's got a limited no trade clause. For some reason I think Fluery is tied to the Pens for the entirety of his career even if Murray is the real deal...the whole organizational overcommittment thing....

He might not have agreed before, but the Panthers aren't the same organization they've been in the past. Tallon has really built something that should maintain. He could step into a mentor role for the younger guys as I feel like Jagr has gotta be done very soon. The Panthers have goaltender prospects in the pipeline but they aren't ready yet.
I shouldn't get ahead of myself on Fleury. I do love the guy and I feel it's too early for us to say it's time to send him away. I want to see more of Murray before i'm ready to go there.
