Ravens would have another timeout, but for Flacco. Undisciplined, unfocused. Team reflects the coach.

That score didn't reflect that game at all. Pats flat out dominated.

fivethirtyeight has our playoff chances at 89% now

if that makes anyone feel any better

(and based on their accuracy in regards to the election, how couldn't it?)

It was truly bizarre. If you look at the game Ravens had 3 decent drives. One ended in a blocked field goal. They were handed a life-line by some Ricardo Colclough redux shit.

To be fair they were one of the few sites that gave Orange Julius a shot.

And to be even fairer, the polls weren't all that far off w/regard to the popular vote. Pretty close in fact. It was the state distribution that got'em.

should be pointed out that Flacco was like 14/15 at one point though (it may have continued even further from there)

credit to him or Pats' D?

At least 60% of those throws were dump offs. It is easy to complete passes underneath when a team is rushing 3 and dropping everyone into coverage allowing TEs and Rbs to be wide open just beyond LOS and especially considering many of those comps came when down 2 scores and with Pats quite happy to allow anything to be caught in front of them.

Far more telling on Ravens last drive for the FG was the epic amount of time Flacco took just to get his team set up at the LOS. They wasted so much time it was flat out ridiculous.

You want the key to the game? Easy Patriots watch taped and eliminated what made Ravens offense look so good last week. For some odd reason I never grasped Dolphins gave Pita a free release all game long and barely covered the guy. Pats clogged the middle and forced Flacco to look elsewhere. It is why Ravens couldn't sustain drives. Take away Flacco's security blanket and that offense becomes a erratic up and down (mostly down) circus.

id say yes..but if u had a great leaper who cleared the center its an excellent surprise play to use I think. if it was common they might have to employ a special guy to defend it..

It's been used at least 2 other times in the NFL this year-- I want to say as many as 4-5 other times.

It was always open. The one thing this loss DOES do for us is...win the next two and we can treat Week 17 as a bye week (provided the #2 seed is off the table).

Hoping against hope that the Eagles have one spark of life left and can pull off an upset next week...then we just have to win two of the last three and we're in.

Game's on the road though, so I doubt it.

I was encouraged by what I saw last night from both teams in regards to SBI.

That dink and dunk stuff the Ravens were doing puts an emphasis on sound tackling and deep coverage which I think this defense has turned the corner on. Anyone here still want to trade Mosley for Shazier now? Watching Shazier is like watching a Monty Python futbol sketch- "Oh Shady could go- no no Shazier's there. Could this be the one for Shady? Shazier says no. Shazier tackles Taylor for loss and tells the beer man to keep the change. Its almost comical how quick he gets the quickest guys on the ground.

Without Gronk this defense has answers in the secondary for what the Pats can put on the field- just have to get the pass rush there.

That's what Belicheat does better than anyone he demands that his staff study tape and find weakness, trends and patterns that he can exploit. Like Troy running out of bounds on punt coverage, Ravens tendency on FG snap count. Once found he pounds it into his players heads through secure repetition. What no one knows on the outside of the league is how many hours a coaching staff allocates to film, strategy, etc. but we can speculate based on preparedness and execution. The Pats have vulnerability, who's good enough and dedicated enough in the AFC to exploit it in NE? Hard to visualize Tomlin, Reid, Del Rio beating Belicheat in NE. If NE gets to Houston Dak might fold under SB pressure, Seattle wants revenge but they are in decline from where they were, Atl, Det & GB are long shots and exploitable. Doubt NYG makes another 6 seed run. Hate the thought of NE being 1st repeat team of the decade. Next we'd hear is the media promoting an award named after Cheatin Bill.

If Pats do win and Shady is Super Bowl MVP... will be priceless to watch Goodell have to present him with the trophy. They deserve each other!

Denver won last year so the worries you have about the Pats repeating you can put to rest for now.
