There's a reason why a lot of people predicted a loss against the jets, and it didn't have anything to do with predicting 4 turnovers

But the reason the Steelers did lose had a hell of a lot to do with 4 turn overs.

How many points did the Jets get off those turnovers?

Serious question.

All I'm saying is, Tomlin loses to the shittiest teams in the league and it happens regularly.

That's not my biased opinion. It's a fact. The question is why?

Is it because we just happen to get unlucky against the shittiest teams in the league?

They planned poorly like they always do against terrible teams and wanted to play small ball and it but them in the ass like it almost always does.

Was YOU that chose to reference as a killer turnover, the one that had the LEAST impact on the game, the one that the Steelers survived relatively intact.

I can't help it that you're chasing your own tail on this one, Pierogi, trying to mitigate your own idiocy by attributing words and thoughts to people that were never stated. Not working though.

But it didn't have the LEAST impact on the game. It had an equal impact to all of the other turnovers with the exception of the fumble that led to points.

We'll do it real slow.....
a. First turnover.....Jets recoved around Steeler 20, quickly converted it to 7 points
b. Second turnover.....Steelers at Jets 10, in position to score at least 3, possibly 7....got none
c. Third turnover....Jets recover at Steelers 28 with 1:51 to half, leading 17-0. After Jets miss a FG, Steelers take over at own 35 with 51 seconds to half...kick a FG to make it 17-3.
d. Fourth turnover.....trailing 17-3, Steelers have 1st & 10 at Jets 40, throw an interception

WHICH of these had the least impact?

I said that turnover was a killer. It was. I never said it had the biggest impact. You attribute words and thoughts to me, then complain that I'm doing it to you.

Given the final score? Too many.

This is a fact. A terrible, condemning fact. BUT, in THIS game, I have no doubt the Steelers win if they don't turn the ball over four times. Ben did not have his best day, either and the o line was unable to run block even though Jets often rushed only four. Total team failure Sunday.

And you know their entire offensive game plan based on the eight offensive plays they ran on their first drive before falling behind by multiple scores?

Astounding.

Including the expected value of Steeler points lost?

Also the fact that they deferred the kick-off. Is the plan was to attack and get up early, wouldn't you want the ball first if given the chance? They were absolutely easing into that game.

No. Those are hypothetical and thus strictly verboten.

It all boils down to this

Big Ben has 6 wins this year

And Mike Tomlin has 4 losses

Again with this.

Bunch of bullshit.

Deferring is a better strategy because it is a great way of trying to generate that extra possession for the offense.

Nothing better than having the ball last in the first half and first in the second half.

And the way they were in "probing" mode, there is big chance the same result would have happened whether the Steelers got the ball first or second.

You are bitching about deferring the kickoff with the hindsight of knowing how things proceeded.

Exactly. You know the Jets are going to chew clock when they have the ball based on the sheer fact they run it as often as anybody in the league. That puts possessions at a premium. Unfortunately, the Steelers didn't possess the ball all that well when they possessed the ball.

As for the probing thing, every offensive coordinator in the NFL comes into games with a script of plays designed to give them insight into what the defense is doing and how they'll react to certain things (formations, motions, personnel packages, etc.) and move the ball down the field. Whether Haley's scripts prioritize the former more than the latter is certainly debatable.

I know Pierogi.

I don't have a problem with checking out what the defense will do- that's why scripting came about.

I do feel like they are way too conservative when they are "probing", however, and are too conservative with teams they feel are offensively challenged.

Or it could be, again, that teams that have active fronts and are dropping a lot of guys into coverage give us fits, and we have to find a better way to beat that other than what we've tried.

Because with this bunch, playing small ball and expecting perfect execution is NOT the way to go. I don't know how many more fails the team has to have before the coaches get that.

Its almost as if they need to go back to a more conservative style...........thinking that these bottom feeders, .............minus dynamic weapons for the most part.................will also play a more conservative style of football.

Hence...........the 1-8 record vs. the bottom feeders.

Its a "plodding" style of football............

"plodding" is a cousin of "probing"

I don't think its that black and white.........
I said on several occasions over the last 4-5 6 weeks.......
That Ben has not really had that WTF throw / INT..........as in years past he has had one or two a game sometimes.......
and that 2 of his three picks were tips..........now 4 of 5 were tips.

The high and late INT over the middle...........was a true WTF pick.
He also just unleashed and let a ball fly on one long third down play...in which he was back peddaling and he just let it fly high and deep around the fifty to see if his guy could run under it. He actually had alot more time on that play.

Sunday was certainly a combination of poor prepraration, game planning, execution and player mishaps............

Don't forget the scrambling WTF throw along the sideline in the red zone.

The one that didn't get picked off? You are gonna throw shit at Ben for an incompletion? One where he was trying to get it in the end zone after the coaching staff was picking their fucking asses and let the field goal unit run on the field on a THIRD DOWN? Jesus Christ almighty when did you start the Anti Ben Roethlisberger Fan Club? Let me guess, after Milledgeville? Reno?

An incompletion that hit both of the defender's hands and that was intended for a guy who was out of bounds? Yeah. I'm going to go ahead and call that a bad decision on Ben's part.

Ok, well don't be too hard on him. After all, he's the reason you aren't walking around with your One for the Thumb t-shirt on anymore. You ever criticize Tomlin under this same lens? Or is he infallible because of the Ray Bans and corner office reserved for head coaches?

Not the throw. Tomlin, generally, for his failures as a coach. Are you ever critical?

Sure. I have no reason to do it here, though. Everybody's got the criticism department handled. I try to talk about football and figure out why failures occurred instead of just chalking every failure up to bad coaching, calling the coach names and making fun of other posters.

HELL NO, he isn't.

The guy simply parrots everything IC says.

I wouldn't be surprised if it were IC.
