Super Bowl [Apathetic] Game Watching Thread
Re: Super Bowl [Apathetic] Game Watching Thread
Kupp deserved MVP. The Rams had NOTHING else in the second half. He was doubled so much and still found ways to make plays in traffic. That guy is impressive. Well deserved. Wish we had football players with that kind of love and dedication to the game.
Also credit to Stafford. He's not on a Brady, Ben, or Manning level...or even Brees. But, he's still a very good QB who came through in the end.

I am not sure that is a facemask. He did not grab the facemask. Big difference. Probably OPI though…but Ramsey already had the tee shirt hold.
Im thankful that Eteopians will be able to keep the sun off their heads with those Cincinnati SB winning hats.

it would have been 4th and goal from like the 8. I think you might be thinking about the 7th down incompletion. I’m talking about the 3rd down where the defender reached out in front and knocked the ball away, but called for holding because his other hand was in contact with the receiver.jeemie wrote: ↑Mon Feb 14, 2022 3:10 amHe had his jersey, and the Rams still had third and goal even without that.LakecrestSteeler wrote: ↑Mon Feb 14, 2022 3:02 amThe one on 55? That was legit…Peon defending a superstar in the big moment time. Kupp will get that every time.
The killer penalty was the roughing call after the Rams were flagged for holding.
You make three straight plays on defense, and it counts for nothing because a bad call means the offense gets 4 more chances.
Overall, i don’t think the bengals have right to complain, just saying that i expect them to be worked up about that sequence at the end.
I always enjoy his commentary. Never understood why people don't like him when there's plenty of bad color guys out there.El Kabong wrote: ↑Mon Feb 14, 2022 3:13 amI agree. I like Collinsworth. Howard Griffith had to resort to chop-blocking him during the 1997 AFC Championship Game. An incredulous Kirkland asked Griffith, “Why do you have to use cheap tactics like chop-blocking?” Griffith replied “Why do you have to be a 300-pound linebacker?”

I agree. In fact he and Romo were two players I rooted against vehemently, but I enjoy their commentary.Steelperch wrote: ↑Mon Feb 14, 2022 3:11 amCollinsworth was tremendous tonight. As to the Stafford/Kupp comment as opposed to Ben/Santonio, think about it. The Steelers had all their offensive weapons on the field for that drive - Ben, Santonio, Hines, Parker, Heath. Stafford basically just had Kupp on that drive.

He must thank the Rams every day for getting him out of Detroit. Has to feel like heaven compared to where he was.franco32 wrote: ↑Mon Feb 14, 2022 3:20 amKupp deserved MVP. The Higgins OPI was so egregious that I don't think the Bengals fans can complain at all. I saw Ramsey's head getting twisted in real time and said WTF?

BTW, I think Wilson (#55) for the Bengals played his ass off in this game. He seemed to be making tackles all over the field. I know they flagged him on that ticky tack call towards the end of the game, but man I think he played great.

Look at a coach like Sean McVay who sees issues and addresses them. He knew Goff sucked but instead of letting his career rot with that crap at QB, he and the Rams went bold and made things happen. It's so anti-Steeler where we stick with our guys no matter what. We can never admit we made a personnel mistake....
Wilson was awesome. It's so weird to see an ILB playing with decisiveness, toughness, and speed. The Bengals only had to spend a 3rd rounder on him...not a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd....JackLambert58 wrote: ↑Mon Feb 14, 2022 3:27 amBTW, I think Wilson (#55) for the Bengals played his ass off in this game. Which is why we'll have the pleasure of watching Bush suck all year next season. That is the argument for Kupp, and it is a good one. However, Donald and the D really stiffened up after the Bengals took the lead and Rams offense continued to flounder. Bengals looked poised to put the Rams away and then Aaron Donald just flat out dominated. The Rams defense did way more and was way more impressive in getting this W.franco32 wrote: ↑Mon Feb 14, 2022 3:20 amKupp deserved MVP. The Rams had NOTHING else in the second half. Ramsey was falling and was way out of position when the contact happened.
The thing about Detroit, and what I worry may happen to the Tomlin-infected Steelers, is that the culture is one of futility and losing.
It's amazing to watch that team do everything they can to lose games, and it seems to be a magic spell and some metaphysical controller that decides they will have major fuckups at the worst time imaginable, over and over.
And it also seems there is nothing that can be done about it. The friggin team is haunted for some reason. Stafford must have gone through an exorcism imo.

I’m sorry
Both Kupp and Donald deserved MVP honors
Should have made it co-winners

Ramsey is savy enough to move his head with that scrape of the face mask. I am not sure if it was a grasp of the mask or friction on the mask that made it move. But Ramsey gets away with murder. Holding, pulling shirts and jerseys, he also started the holding on the top of the shoulder pads too.
Yup. Nice game.JackLambert58 wrote: ↑Mon Feb 14, 2022 3:27 amBTW, I think Wilson (#55) for the Bengals played his ass off in this game. He seemed to be making tackles all over the field. I know they flagged him on that ticky tack call towards the end of the game, but man I think he played great.
Tho watching Steelers ILB play the last few years,
the bar is low for an above average game by an ILB

I think he shot thru holes and made TFL a few times this game.
Read, react, shoot the gap, make the tackle.

Thing is, he was arguably outplayed by Chase.
Donald had no equal - he deserved it.

You really need to watch a replay. i cant believe anyone has seen the replay and didnt see blatant full facemask. i mean i get it, i dont like ramsey either. hell i dont like the rams buying a superbowl but that was a missed facemask that led to 7pts! fuck the bengals glad their fans have to swallow another superbowl loss the schadenfreud is great! burrow was cocky af glad he got sacked to lose the game and im glad that they can say the refs hurt them by extending ram's chances but theres a blown call that went in their favor that gave them 7. it's perfect.El Kabong wrote: ↑Mon Feb 14, 2022 4:19 amYou really need to watch a replay. Ramsey would’ve had an INT had he not been thrown by the face mask.El Kabong wrote: ↑Mon Feb 14, 2022 4:19 amYou really need to watch a replay. Not to make everything about the Steelers, but this game by the Rams reminds me of a lot of Steelers wins the last couple of years: team cannot run at all; they gut it out and do just enough to win. Bengals implode on their stupid penalties; Rams defense gets a ton of sacks.
Cincinnati better get some linemen for Burrow. Otherwise he’ll be out of the league by age 30.

Only Bungle fan I feel for: Bill Hemmer.
I have a feeling they are going to discover that it’s tougher to improve your roster in the offseason when you don’t have the first overall pick every year.Who Dee Knee wrote: ↑Mon Feb 14, 2022 7:25 amNot to make everything about the Steelers, but this game by the Rams reminds me of a lot of Steelers wins the last couple of years: team cannot run at all; they gut it out and do just enough to win. That said, they definitely have a 2-3 year window here.
