4-6 since their Super Bowl win/appearance in one more season than Tomlin's 3-5 since SB appearance (5-6 since last SB win)

Payton missed the playoffs THREE STRAIGHT YEARS before 3 humiliating exits.K_C_ wrote: ↑Wed Jan 08, 2020 7:27 pmPlayoff appearances the last two seasons vs. no playoffs the last two seasons.bradshaw2ben wrote: ↑Wed Jan 08, 2020 6:38 pm4-6 since their Super Bowl win/appearance in one more season than Tomlin's 3-5 since SB appearance (5-6 since last SB win)
You would HATE Payton if he were the Steelers coach and had the same results he's had.
3 straight years without playoffs
lost on ridiculous WHAT WERE YOU THINKING coverage walk off TD
lost on a horrendous call it never should have come down to
lost to an inferior opponent and only even kept it close with trick plays and the wildcat

Well, 1 humiliating exit. They got FUCKED OVER MASSIVELY the previous year.bradshaw2ben wrote: ↑Wed Jan 08, 2020 7:37 pmPayton missed the playoffs THREE STRAIGHT YEARS before 3 humiliating exits.K_C_ wrote: ↑Wed Jan 08, 2020 7:27 pmPlayoff appearances the last two seasons vs. no playoffs the last two seasons.bradshaw2ben wrote: ↑Wed Jan 08, 2020 6:38 pm

So basically you're saying the Saints are on an upswing and the Steelers are headed in a different direction.
I'd agree.

Two humiliating losses... two years ago and this year.K_C_ wrote: ↑Wed Jan 08, 2020 7:40 pmWell, 1 humiliating exit. They got FUCKED OVER MASSIVELY the previous year.bradshaw2ben wrote: ↑Wed Jan 08, 2020 7:37 pmPayton missed the playoffs THREE STRAIGHT YEARS before 3 humiliating exits.

I'd agree.
And The Saints were on less of an upswing three years ago than the Steelers are now. Steelers have a top 3 defense and are returning a 38 year old QB. Saints three seasons ago were returning a 38-year old QB and the 31st defense.

Brees and Payton won't have to contend with a possible Super Bowl champion and MVP in their division next season. The Steelers will. The Browns have a bunch of talent and likely won't make a Freddie Kitchens hire again. Cincy will still be rebuilding but will have have a certified franchise QB for the first time since Carson Palmer. I would SERIOUSLY advise the Steelers to make noise next year.....if (and that's a big IF) Ben can come back healthy.bradshaw2ben wrote: ↑Wed Jan 08, 2020 7:43 pmTwo humiliating losses... two years ago and this year.K_C_ wrote: ↑Wed Jan 08, 2020 7:40 pmWell, 1 humiliating exit. ..and when it comes to humiliating losses in the postseason, NOBODY beats Dumblin. His losses at home to all time great Blake Bortles (who almost broke the fucking scoreboard IN HEINZ FIELD) and Tim Tebow in Mile High are a train wreck nobody will likely ever match.

Amazed people still can defend Tomlin
He’s a dope
Everyone knows it, sees it....yet Steeler ownership continues to be a franchise of stability....
That’s great....

I'm only saying: IF Tomlin's a dope, then Payton is too. And Sean Mcdermott, Sean Mcvay, & Doug Pederson all made horrendous decisions this season, tarnishing their golden boy statuses.
My hot take: Almost all NFL coaches are risk-averse dumbasses who lose their minds when the going gets tough.

Payton lost this year to a very, very good Vikings team in a close one and losing Lattimore right before that bomb to Thielen was the final nail in the coffin.bradshaw2ben wrote: ↑Wed Jan 08, 2020 9:14 pmI'm only saying: IF Tomlin's a dope, then Payton is too. That isn't a humiliating defeat. The Vikings are damn good. Especially that defense.
I won't be shocked if the Vikings beat Garoppolo and the Niners too.

Payton lost a playoff game to a 7-9 team with a franchise quarterback on his team. You would KILL Tomlin for that, and you know it.K_C_ wrote: ↑Wed Jan 08, 2020 11:55 pmPayton lost this year to a very, very good Vikings team in a close one and losing Lattimore right before that bomb to Thielen was the final nail in the coffin.bradshaw2ben wrote: ↑Wed Jan 08, 2020 9:14 pmI'm only saying: IF Tomlin's a dope, then Payton is too. Payton lost a playoff game to a Case Keenum-led team with a franchise quarterback on his team. You would kill Tomlin for that, and you know it.
Payton just lost a playoff game to a Kirk Cousins-led team with a franchise quarterback on his team. You would kill Tomlin for that, and you know it.
But I want to focus on one point. Are you saying that it's possible for a team with a franchise qb to lose to a team with a lesser qb because the rest of the team might be really good? Is that your position?

People giving Payton a pass for his failures while destroying Tomlin for his when their careers are so similar is exactly the point of the discussion.bradshaw2ben wrote: ↑Wed Jan 08, 2020 7:37 pmPayton missed the playoffs THREE STRAIGHT YEARS before 3 humiliating exits.K_C_ wrote: ↑Wed Jan 08, 2020 7:27 pmPlayoff appearances the last two seasons vs. no playoffs the last two seasons.bradshaw2ben wrote: ↑Wed Jan 08, 2020 6:38 pm

Kirk Cousins is a seriously talented player. He’s underachieved to this point but he’s talented as hell and the Vikings are loaded with talent on both sides of the ball.El Kabong wrote: ↑Thu Jan 09, 2020 1:01 amPayton lost a playoff game to a 7-9 team with a franchise quarterback on his team. ....and Keenum was EXCELLENT that entire year, not just when he played the saints. He was damn near Nick Foles Super Bowl year good. Want to know why Keenum was real good? HE WAS ON A LOADED VIKINGS TEAM, JUST LIKE COUSINS.
Neither game was some sort of massive upset (and wasn’t that the miracle game where the Vikings won on the last play of the game on the throw to Diggs?)
Dumblin lost to Tim Tebow who was quickly out of the league and he lost to Blake Bortles whose NFL career is hanging by a cunt hair.
Get real.
