Tie Domi thinks it was dirty....which is kinda like having Jeffrey Dahmer tell you you're fucked up.

Caps and their troll coach are fucking pussies. Go head hunting to deal with playoff desperation.
It's fine, I hope someone two hands their composite stick to Ovie's fucked up face.

The best kind of retribution is beating them Wednesday night.

I wouldn't be surprised if he's done for the season. I'm not saying this to be the first to say it, but the doctors and management under no circumstances will rush him back.

Paul Coffey's take
Brutal 2-hander to the back of the neck and head... really, Coffey? Gimme a fuckin break.
I thought it was a cheap shot by Ovi

Sheary out too. Crosby, Sheary, Murray, Letang, and Hagelin is playing like he's still injured.
That is brutal.

And if anyone of you doesn't think Trotz sent an order to hammer Sid if he was going hard to the net (which is what he does) then you are ignorant.

I thought it was going to be Tortorella to order his guys to do that.
Should have realized Trotz would do it too once his team was bitch-slapped after Game 2.
Let's make this playoff run epic, Pens!
Team actually played its most consistent game of the playoffs with all those guys on the shelf.

Yup- ending it the series as soon as possible is the best thing for this team. Maybe that buys Sid a couple extra days to get healthy, maybe he's back for the Wash series or maybe he's done for his career. Just never know
Not that it's critical, but Matt Murray finally skated on his own yesterday. Good sign that he can at least hopefully backup next series?
WTF was Murray's injury anyway?Donnie Brasco wrote:fractalsteel wrote:The best kind of retribution is beating them Wednesday night.

But of course the best retribution would be to win. But you cannot deny it sends a signal that you can rough up our players and we won't retaliate. They'll keep doing it until they win. The whole tone and complexion of the game changed after the crosby hit. Will they take another cheap shot penalty to change the momentum of a game?
I'm new at watching hockey, but I remember the old days when something like this wouldn't go unnoticed and would be responded to. I realize the pens aren't built for that kind of dynamic. . . but it's increasingly clear teams are walking the line of physicality, and sometimes crossing it.

Typical playoff secrecy- no one knows what MM's injury was. Likely a groin or knee issue
As for what you see in today's game, it's much much different than what you'd see even10- 15 years ago. NHL and NFL both have seen transformations in their games where this kinda stuff gets you suspended.
If you leave the bench for a fight, you get an automatic 10 games. Google Scott Stevens biggest hits or Darius Kasperitis biggest hits. That kind of open ice hitting today would get some big time suspensions.
But I don't necessarily agree that the Pens need to send any type of message except the scoreboard. Cbus tried to goon it up, San Jose last year tried it. Rangers tried it in the first round last year. Last year the Caps tried it for like the first 2 games and wised up. The only team who DIDN"T do that stuff (TB) took the Pens to the brink twice

Curious. I wonder how people felt about Burfict going after BR's knees. Everybody was cheering the Shazier hit on Bernard that took him out of the game. We all loved decastro targeting and pancaking Burfict as retaliation. Yeah, I know football is not hockey, but in many respects it's more dangerous.
Ok. Maybe I'm still living in 1975. It's not like I want a savage brutal game. But at least some threats were made, I hope. Keep Ovie looking over his shoulder instead of the puck.
